Whew – was nice to get that win last night on my first night back. Even though pretty much right from the get-go it looked like a game that was going over, I was still sitting there nervous until that 6th goal went in and I was able to breathe a sigh of relief.

With that it’s into the deep end with a whopping 11 games tonight to analyze. Some real interesting ones today. I also feel a big case of deja vu seeing the headlines “Is Lundqvist back”. Pretty sure I read the same bloody thing just a month ago.

First game for the Bruins under the new coach.

Today also sees the return of OHL/WHL/AHL with one tip today in the OHL. With just one game last night I spent some time checking on the systems and making sure while I was away nothing crazy happened. Looks good – so good to get back with them as they’ve been productive for us this year.

I’ll also aim to tally up the stats on the sidebar today for January. Just been absolutely swamped last month – not only with the vacation but having to do a bunch of extra work before it so I could relax!

Bruins vs Sharks Betting Tips:

To be honest I’d be looking at Over 5 regardless of what Cassidy says – however he’s talking up the Bruins upping their pace which can only mean good things for the over.

Both teams are coming into this game off the back of some strong offensive performances and some weak defensive performances. Sharks are very solid at scoring on the road while Bruins concede a fair bit at home.

Sharks have got a good point run going and when they lose it’s usually close. They’re competitive. Bruins we have to expect them to come out swinging after the coaching change and if that fast pace is there then it should be a good battle.

Over 5 Goals incl OT/SO.

Blues vs Leafs Betting Tips:

For this one I immediately turned to Scott and said “What’s the bet?”. He’s been on point about the Leafs for the past couple of months. Even in games when we don’t tip them to win and they do that’s because I argued it down – it’s just one of those things where he seems to really know the team at the moment and we’ve made some good money off that.

He likes Over 5.5 Goals in this one and I like it. The Blues offense has been quite good lately and although they shut out the Sens and Flyers it’d take an incredible effort to shut out the free scoring Leafs. The Blues concede a crapload on the road. I’m happy with this one going over.

  • Norbert Buzási

Can you see the Caps destroying the Red Wings? I’d try a bigger handicap, but I want to hear your opinion as well. Anyone..

    • Matthew

Well I am surely going with Caps in reg and also Caps TT O 3.5, thay havent scored less than 5 goals since 4th January at home and I think it is not going to change today… Handicap is also an interesting possibility.

      • Norbert Buzási

They are killing it at home especially. But the Red Wings don’t seem like a team to blow out. I am thinking about -3 for 5.80. I could go with -1.5, but I want to maximize my profit with them, and I think they are capable of pulling it off, as shown by recent results.

        • Norbert Buzási

I feel like eithet this or the Pens will be a blowout.

          • Benson

Could be both? Pens let me down last time.

          • Norbert Buzási

Yep, can be both, that would be awesome. I think I’ll gamble a bit on it tonight.

They let me down as well.

Crosby is close to 1000, so they will try to make it quite a memory for him. And the Caps are different beasts at the moment…

          • Benson

Maybe a small parlay with both teams? I’ve been profiting off single bets but I’m liking the potential from both teams tonight.

          • Norbert Buzási

I would do them one by one. Maybe a little parlay, but I can’t really see both happening. Not because they can’t put four between them, but it is very unlikely, to catch something like this.

          • Norbert Buzási

I think I am going to go like this:

.5 units on -1.5 for around a double (both the Pens and Caps)

and .5 units on -3 for 5.60 and 5.80 (both the Pens and Cap)

The handicap is very likely on both, so they only cover that, I broke even. Of course, could be close games, but that would be a surprise for me.

    • Graeme (BetNHL.ca)

That was one of the first ones I looked at. It easily has merit. My issues were:

      – In regulation wasn’t enough odds for me. I’d prefer to take the handicap.
      – Wings are a fighting team and I believe the majority of their games are by 1 goal when they lose.
      – Last few games between the two even when the Caps dominate have been just 1 goal wins for the Caps.

Was juuust enough to put me off tipping it. I like your idea of saying “screw it” and going for a big blowout victory though.

      • Norbert Buzási

We’ll see how it goes. The worst that can happen is -2 units.

Yes, as I said, the Wings are normally not a team to blow out, but the Caps are rolling like crazy at home, and they are not slowing down when they have the lead (something that was an issue in the recent years if I am correct). I’ve tried a bigger handicap once this season, the game went to OT…

  • Benson

It seems rather difficult to make a pick tonight, prices are really inflated. I am also trying to gather on what people think the Caps can do tonight. Might just take them at the PL.

  • Henry Del Valle Sr.

Tons of action tonight! I am waiting on confirmed starters in net.

  • what2bet.net

    Looks good guys

I have SJ/BOS Over 5 as well my model says it should be listed as a 6

I have Dal/Ott over 5.5 my model says it should be listed at 6.5

    Good luck 2nite.

    • SanDiegoBruins

      looking good for Sharks-Bs over

      • what2bet.net

yup that’s cashed now just 2 more in the dal/ott game score you puckers

  • Smoking Barrel

What about Islanders-Flyers going over 5,5?

    • Henry Del Valle Sr.

I have no stats or anything to back this up, but my instinct says the Flyers will breakout of their scoring funk. I feel Philly will at least get 3 past Greiss. Islanders give up a lot of goals on the road.

  • slyNHL

    Hi all!
Your thoughts on Anahaim beats Buffalo. Cons?

    • Henry Del Valle Sr.

I have the Ducks as a lean. I just can’t see them continue to lose. I am pretty sure they’ve been successful against Sabres. I like it to go Under 5 as well.

      • Petri Kontiola

        Something is wrong.:)
Me too i’m prety sure about Ducks.
        Also like Kings and Habs.

    • Graeme (BetNHL.ca)

Really feels like a coinflip of a game and bookies feel the same so no bet for us. If anything in that game I like the Over.

      • Henry Del Valle Sr.

I will bet you a six-pack of Revolution, which is a terrific Chicago Micro Brewery (any kind, IPA, wheat ale, Pilsner, etc) for a sixer of LaBatt’s Blue. Sabres/Ducks Under and you take the over. LOL

        • Graeme (BetNHL.ca)

          IPA sounds good 🙂

          • Henry Del Valle Sr.

            LOL! Damn Sabres!

    • Henry Del Valle Sr.

Sabres have gotten some professional money. A great majority of the bets are on Anaheim, so with that said, I have to go the other way and take Buffalo. Yes, I am flip-flopping like a fish.

  • Henry Del Valle Sr.

I like both of Graeme’s plays.
    SJ/BOS Over
    Tor/STL Over

  • NHL Daily Tips

Great last night with my picks and a exciting match!

    Tonights picks

    Sharks TT over 2.5
    Caps in reg
    Caps TT over 2.5
    Sabres/Ducks under 5.5
    STL/Leafs over 5.5

    Thoughts?

    GLTA!

    • Henry Del Valle Sr.

Yes to everything. I only have the Sabres/Ducks Under as a lean. Maybe a .5U play?

      • NHL Daily Tips

Agree, I usually play the 5U and not the 5.5U..

      • Steve Dimase

Hey how are you, just asking if you had 3 picks you like to win who are they win or lose will not hold it against you at all just looking for some idea’s thanks.

        • Henry Del Valle Sr.

I am great. How are you?
          Blue Jackets in Reg
          SJ/Bos Over
          Stl/Tor Over

          • Steve Dimase

good buddy have not had a chance to look into the games so busy, so will be kind of picking blind! but I trust your advice thanks again gl all love the comments on the board very helpful!

  • LeDemonBlond

    Rangers in reg
    Canadiens in reg
    Kings ml

  • Matthew

Why does nobody want to play Pens or Jackets, is it coz the odds are too low or coz you see ir as a risky pick?

    • Graeme (BetNHL.ca)

In regard to Pens I wasn’t convinced they’d put it away in regulation and the odds weren’t there for OT/SO. Avs offense ticking last two games. But I can’t count on them either because it’s the Avs – otherwise I would’ve went with the Over.

I liked Jackets in regulation myself.

    • Benson

I’m taking the Jackets in regulation tonight as one of my bets.

    • Henry Del Valle Sr.

I have Jackets in Reg. The cannon will be firing A LOT tonight!

  • BlueLineBets

Great win for the Hawks last night! That’s going to be a fun playoff series. Tonight I like the UNDER in the Kings/FLA game.

Florida is they type of team that generally plays to their competition and they almost never blow a team out (8 of their last 10 have been 1 goal games). The Kings are a physical team that forces opponents to play their style (slow/low scoring). Neither of these teams have prolific offenses. The Kings average 2.03 G/g on the road and the Panthers average 2.4 G/g at home. Both teams have pretty good defenses that have been playing well lately (both allowing less than 2.4 G/g over the last three weeks). Peter Budaj (projected) has been one of the best goalies in the league this year and James Reimer (confirmed) has played well in his starts lately (1.9 GAA in last 3 starts).

    • Henry Del Valle Sr.

I think the same way but those last two 5-0 blowouts that the Kings suffered really scare me off this play.

      • BlueLineBets

Understandable. Still those two losses came against the Caps and Bolts who have a very different playing style than the Panthers. 8 of the last 10 between these teams have had 5 goals or less, 6 of those 8 have had a total under 5.

        • Henry Del Valle Sr.

For sure…That Tampa blowout was a shocker to me. Panthers grind it out as do the Kings. Reimer has been very good of late. Panthers coming off their bye. Will they be rusty? They’ve gotten some much-needed players back from IR. Can Budaj maintain it? He’s never played this much before and maybe it’s starting to catch up. Kings have to definitely play better defense in front of him.

          • BlueLineBets

All good questions. That’s why you don’t risk the mortgage! Guess we’ll see! GL!

  • luke

Boston – San Jose ov 4,5
    Toronto – STL ov 4,5

    good pick ?

    • Benson

Good picks, probably not worth how much you would have to shell out.

    • NHL Daily Tips

Too low odds for the picks in my opinion

  • Benson

Not happy with the prices today but those are my picks.

    WAS Capitals -1.5 (odds: +130)
WAS Capitals in reg (odds: -160)
CLB Jackets in reg (odds: -130)
    DAL/OTT ovr5.5 (odds: -120)
    SJ/BOS ovr5.0 (odds: -145)

Looks like a solid to me anyway. What do you guys/gals think?

    • NHL Daily Tips

Really like your picks tonight, can’t disagree with any of them!

  • Martin

Any thoughts or gut feelings on players to score?

Personally I’m thinking about Stastny to score, in what I see as a game with lots of goals. He scored twice the last time the two teams met, and I see the Leafs defence having a hard time controlling him once again.

  • Rumen

A small play on Red Wings ML. I have a hunch 🙂

  • Jrichy88

i like montreal -1.5 (odds 2.65 ) at sports interaction. i know they lost a few in a row but should come out strong against a bottom feeder like phx. any thoughts ?

  • Rumen

I just took Bruins ML. Good luck everyone!

  • Rumen

LOL Bruins on a roll in the 1st period.

    • SanDiegoBruins

      Sharks gaining on them.

      • Rumen

Nah. $$$ in the bag 🙂

  • SanDiegoBruins

Looks like CBJ didn’t give the Nucks too much respect.

  • Henry Del Valle Sr.

What a weird night in the Hockey Association.
