There is about 8 games left in the season. There has only been 4 teams eliminated from the playoffs and only 5 have clinched a spot.  It seems like 8 games isn’t that much but there is still plenty left to be decided.

Last night the Flyers beat the Penguins 6-2 thanks to a 4 goal third period.  The Flyers still have a shot at the playoffs as the sit only 6 points out of the wild card spot.  The Penguins have lost 3 in a row but 2 of them were decided in extra time so they gained points.

The Red Wings beat the Wild 3-2 in OT.  The Wild have clinched a spot but they have been struggling lately going 2-7-1 over their last 10 and are now on a 3 game skid.

The Jets beat the Canucks 2-1 but still sit 11 points out of the playoffs and will need a miracle to make them.  But anything can happen.

A 6 game schedule for us tonight.  A couple important games and some lopsided matchups too. Only tip today.  I wish there was more but I’m not going to force one.

Blackhawks vs Lightning Betting Tips:

The Hawks are going to be looking to show some life in this game as they got destroyed 7-0 by the Panthers in their last game.  They need to tighten up as they have allowed 14 goals in there last 4 games

The Lightning are only 3 points behind the final wildcard spot.  They need to finish out the season strong to get themselves into the postseason where their captain and best player Stamkos is expected back.

But with the Hawks embarrassing themselves in Florida on the weekend I expect a much better effort from them in this one before they leave the sunshine state.

Blackhawks win incl OT/SO

What a strange night of hockey last night. The unexpected can happen with Philly winning by 4 not just 2 off the b2b.

Mon Mar/27

Carolina REG
-115
Nashville/New York (Ovr5.5)
-120
Calgary PL -2.5
+195

GLTA!

Johnny Hockey

Good picks! Like them… + Hawks

BensonD

The Hawks are a great pick too. Just wanted to keep it to 3 and I wanted to take the risk on Calgary instead.

Matthew

How about Blues PL?

BensonD

Depends on what Arizona shows up. I like their chance of an upset to be honest. Just not enough for me but still very very possible in the realm of hockey.

Orhan Cypriot Ugurcag

Definitely possible and tempting odds, might be worth a small unit 😉

SanDiegoBruinsD

Blues have to be one of the most confounding teams in the league.

Mike Diioia

Gotta hand it to you buddy you called that flyers pl

Oliver Trigg

Congrats man! I doubted you and I think for the third time I regretted It!

BensonD

I’ve had some pretty good hunches this past week. Thanks buddy.

Oliver Trigg

Smack myself in the face everytime telling myself listen to Benson haha

BensonD

Just not tonight. Lol! Wasn’t my night. Streak had to end at some point. Oh well, back to the drawing board and on to the next.

Smoking Barrel

What do you think about Islanders-Predators going over5,5?

Henry Del Valle Sr.

That’s on my list!

BensonD

Mine too! 🙂

BensonD

I think it’s a good bet.

SanDiegoBruinsD

here’s a parlay for you:
Preds-Isles over 1.5 1st per
Cats-Sabres over 1.5 1st per
odds 2.60

Smoking Barrel

thank you, but I don’t really like parlays, I prefer single bets

Petri Kontiola

2 units on Sabres, Red Wings and Islanders.

Mārtiņš Zālītis

Single bet or combo?

Petri Kontiola

Always play combo in regulation.

Mārtiņš Zālītis

Ok Boss

Jake Smith

In regulation?! Not ml

disqus_AODnr9l2hr

You always plays on the “not favourite” ODDS, it is always just lucky if you win. You don’t think anything, you just pick exactly the opposite.

Orhan Cypriot Ugurcag

Well Islanders are a good pick tonight, but the others, not so sure on, but I wouldn’t say he does no research lol, sometimes he adds the favorites too and one/two underdog to raise the odds.

disqus_AODnr9l2hr

Yes maybe, but tell me why pick Sabers, rid-wings and islanders tonight? What research is there in this tips? Sometimes he win, i just want to know how he think.

Orhan Cypriot Ugurcag

I mean, I have a friend that wins a lot that believes giving out all his reasons and picks gives him bad luck, let him do what he wants, you aren’t FORCED to take his picks.

disqus_AODnr9l2hr

No I’m not forced, but it would be interesting to know.

Orhan Cypriot Ugurcag

I mean Florida is 11-3 against Buffalo, so apart from the nice odds, there isn’t much value betting on the sabres here, value is defined not just by the price, but the probability of that team actually winning the game and with the Panthers 10-2 on goal difference in their last 2 games and really motivated right now, the probability of the sabres stopping that seems low. The Wings can grind out games and although carolina are playing MUCH better and on a 3 win streak, this game could be a grindy OT game, betting on regulation in this game, in my opinion, is stupid. Islanders have won 4/5 games in nashvile and at home against the preds.

SanDiegoBruinsD

good analysis

Petri Kontiola

Why?
Only to ask stupid people like you.
I never saw you to give one single pick. Only begging from others.

Bulletproof

You might want to go over his picks the last couple weeks. I’ve been following this site, I can tell you 100 % that this guy gets majority of his 3 picks he chooses. Usually 2 outa 3, I refuse to steal others picks but this Petri Kontiota, has a winning percent of over 60% last couple weeks, probably better, I’m only speaking off the top of my head. You want winning picks ??? Follow his ! Hope I don’t jinks him. But no BS. He’s been on fire last little while and been extremely quiet about it I might add.

Cheers

Bulletproof

With the Hawks not playing up to their
ability and a Tampa team that has once again shown interest in making the playoff, you really trust them with your
$$ ??

That’s a huge gamble, don’t play them because of their name and history. This team is NOT playing like they were a month ago.

Caution needed here big time lol

Orhan Cypriot Ugurcag

Noticed that recently, people betting purely on name and not on stats/injuries too, I knew flyers would win most likely yesterday too with all the pens injuries, players do MAKE a team, the name does not.

Western RattlersD

Correct. Stats+trends+situation+motivation+injuries+home/away+trades+playoff race+fatigue+things we’re never told+intangibles+secrets+chaos+lies+casinos flooding the system with confusing crapola. LOL

Orhan Cypriot Ugurcag

Indeed, you said it better than me haha, although odds can be fair sometimes, the odds on the pens rarely change by much regardless of all of the things you just stated 😉

SanDiegoBruinsD

which is why betting hockey is so fucking frustrating

Jake Smith

Agreed…. I threw out a bullshit bet tonight we’ll see what comes of it
Carolina reg
Calgary ml
St Louis ml
Tampa ml
Florida ml
Combo

SanDiegoBruinsD

off to the right start, Canes up 1-0. The Bolts game could go either way IF the Blackhawks show up… But that’s a big IF.

Jake Smith

Yeah the whole bet was a big IF…. this whole night was a toss up especially with 8 games left in the season nothing is a sure thing

Oliver Trigg

I put a very similar bullshit bet on. Felt funny about panthers though (despite winning majority of games at Sabres)… Sabres just seem to be able to kill teams some nights.

BensonD

Yes, exactly! We can’t be picking by names, especially now when their are a handful of games left and teams are getting nasty for a spot.

Matt M

betting on the best team in the nhl at even money off an embarrassing loss, doesn’t seem like a huge gamble at all

Bulletproof

They could win, my comment was more of a friendly heads up, maybe take a second look at the game . Hawks are not playing good hockey as of late. Take a closer look at their last 5 games. Not just the scores but the whole game periods and shots against. How they have won and how close those wins could have been losses.
One thing I’ve learned in wagering is, why chance your money with a team that you think should win ? Go with the teams that are hot or are playing for something. Absolutely Chico could win but from their play the last 5 or so games and having the number 1 spot locked in Western Conference, I like Tampa more in this one. NOT enough to wager. Enough to stay the hell away.

I’ll go ….. Caro in reg and islzzz ml

Throw either St loo or Calgary on for a parlay

Matt M

what about Tampa bay’s side? Traded away key players, missing 3 of top six forwards and lost their last 3 home games by a total of 15-6. Are you only looking at Chicago? Tampa lost to Arizona 5-3 in their last home game.

Bulletproof

Is Tampa bay not fighting for a playoff spot ?? Did Tampa bay win 2 huge road games to keep their playoff hopes alive ? They lose 1 of those games their out of playoffs. That tells you they will show up tonight and play hard. They have a great home record and have beat Chico last 2 games, not going to write I book. Hockey betting is about trends and ALOT of luck.

Go with your gut, bud.

GL

Western RattlersD

WINS in reg: Calgary and Carolina

Oliver Trigg

Tailing this but with Calgary on puckline -1.5.. not much value in a straight up win there. Definitely agree with the Carolina win too.

disqus_AODnr9l2hr

Guys REALLY think now. 2 teams that will win today?

disqus_AODnr9l2hr

WHAT 2 TEAMS WILL WINN?

Michael

Calgary Flames and Hurricanes.

Arto Reinikainen

Tonight’s edition of “quick thoughts”:

DET @ CAR (pick: Hurricanes)

– I love how the Canes are playing right now. This is what a playoff push should look like. You’re getting the goaltending, guys are working their asses off (go watch Aho’s goal against the Devils, that goal should be in the dictionary next to word determination) and your top scorers have had success. There aren’t many holes in their game right now. BUT this is a dangerous game. The Red Wings have played teams really tight lately. Not allowing many goals and even if they’ve fallen behind they’ve been able to respond. Their goalies have stepped up as well and what seems like a mantra you have to keep repeating every day now, these spoiler teams are always dangerous. Do i think the Wings beat Carolina in regulation tonight? Nah, no way. But there’s no denying they have the ability to hang around and make it a frustrating game for Carolina. Detroit has gone to OT more than any other team in the NHL this season (i think it’s 28 right now, which is crazy) so they know how to make the game annoying. Im passing on this from betting POV, but even if the game goes to OT i think the Canes determination comes through in the end. Tomorrow’s game should be Carolina’s regardless of what happens in this game, so looking forward to that.

FLA @ BUF (pick: Panthers)

– Should be a good game with a lot of chances. Panthers remind me of the Canes when they started their streak. You hit the rock bottom during a playoff push, loosen up a bit and suddenly start playing like you were supposed to in the first place. Florida got nothing to lose and i expect them to go on a pretty good run here, there’s still a glimmer of hope left although i don’t expect them to make the playoffs. Sabres got that good win over Toronto, but they always get up for the Leafs at home and let’s not forget the Leafs had to be a bit tired there playing 3in4 and 4in6. Panthers have done well against the Sabres winning the majority of games in recent history. I think it’s going to be a pretty even game but ultimately i trust the Panthers to capitalize on their chances better.

NSH @ NYI (pick: Predators)

– This is a tricky one. Mostly because the Islanders have been really good against the Preds at home. I might be biased here, because i like the Preds team (especially that back-end compared to the Isles d-core right now is just levels above) but i really like the Preds to come out on top. They’re in a playoff mode so finding the effort shouldn’t be difficult, Rinne is hot and all the pressure is on the Islanders here. They can’t afford to lose this game and that could lead to some individual mistakes that the Preds capitalize on, especially because the Isles have played a lot of hockey lately (this is 3in4, 4in6). Isles have struggled at home recently and during the critical time of a playoff push that seems to be poison. Rinne is not yet confirmed though, so if Saros is in then i’ll have to pass.

CHI @ TBL (pick: Lightning)

– If this was mid-season game i’d go for the Hawks. But like we’ve seen with a number of top teams recently, when you struggle to find motivation and try to force it, it’s not a hole that’s easy to get out of. Blackhawks were down by 2+ goals against both the Avalanche and Canucks, beat the Stars in SO and then got hammered by the Panthers. Their “gearing up for the playoffs” streak is over, they got the 1st place in the Central and have literally nothing to play for right now. For the Bolts it’s desperation time and despite their recent home struggles, they want this game so much more that i expect them to grind it out to the very end. In my mind a team like the Blackhawks (especially the Blackhawks, whenever you lose a SCF to somebody that will always stick in your memory) is exactly what they need. It’s just one of those games that have their dynamic changed because it’s the last quarter of the season.

ARI @ STL (pick: Blues)

– Blues have won 9 straight meetings. I have a tough time seeing the Blues struggle to get up for this game, as they’ve been in a playoff mode for a while now. Regardless it’s hard to find value. Doesn’t feel like the type of game where the Coyotes surprise, but neither do i think the Blues blow them out. A boring 1 goal win wouldn’t surprise me. USA’s WJC gold medalist Clayton Keller makes his NHL debut for the Coyotes, which adds some entertainment value.

COL @ CGY (pick: Flames)

– One of those games where i feel like the Avs have a chance to surprise and it’s a dangerous letdown spot for the Flames, but then somehow the Avs screw it up again. Pass.

GL !

SanDiegoBruinsD

Arto, Det and Canes could definitely go OT. I think Canes win, but as you said, Red Wings hang in there.

Arto Reinikainen

Yeah, from these two home-and-home games the Canes and Wings have, i see this one as the tougher one to win from Canes POV. Tomorrow though should be a slam dunk Canes win. Detroit 3 games in a row, and if the Canes lose tonight they’ll come out storming tomorrow, if they win it’s easier to do it again against a tired team and knowing how to beat them.

Oliver Trigg

With Hawks having won 81% of their away games and Tampa having been bad home and suffering injuries I’m not so sure about not backing hawks.

Arto Reinikainen

Hawks have a 63% win rate on the road this season.

But yeah it’s one of those games where i feel like i want to take a chance, until Hawks show me they can match the desperation level of these teams in the hunt, im going against them. Have been doing the same with the Wild and Sharks lately (and in hindsight, should’ve last night with the Flyers as well). Definitely could be wrong as it is the Hawks and you never know, but we’ll see how it goes.

Oliver Trigg

Sorry think the 81% stat was from their last 15 games or the likes! 94% for last 12 I think.

Matt M

agreed. No one is talking about Tampa here either. They were desperate for points last week, and lost 3 straight home games by a total of 15-6, including a 5-3 loss to Arizona. Tampa traded away players and are decimated by injuries as well

Bulletproof

4 1 … wish I took Chico lol

Only consolation will be if Caro hits or ilszzz. Sucks being wrong. just didn’t like it.

LeDemonBlond

Panthers ML
GLTA

Orhan Cypriot Ugurcag

Best pick tonight in my opinion.

SanDiegoBruinsD

Cats have a good shot, but I like the over on this game if you can get 5 1/2. I got in early and got ov5½ +110 but I see it’s up to 6. These teams seem very similar to me, decent offense, leaky defense and inconsistent goaltending. Sabres are about .500 at home and they are pesky as hell. Cats coming off that dominating win vs Pens have to be feeling some confidence. I think it’s wide open game with plenty of pucks going in the net. Last goal wins.

Orhan Cypriot Ugurcag

Chicago (ML) – Islanders (ML) – Florida Reg

Western RattlersD

Earlier in the season, I’d go with Chicago. What scares me off the Chicago game is Chicago being smug in a secure playoff spot while Tampa is madly chasing one. Both teams are a normal-looking 6-3-1 (last 10) and in Chicago’s 0-7 loss to Florida, showed that they, like Pittsburgh, will sporadically take an evening off, to stay healthy and energized for the playoffs. The team that wins is the one that wants it.

Caesium

Tonight I am going with Cats ML @ 1.884 and Bolts ML @ 1.869.

GLTA

Steve Dimase

okay got my rent on this wish me luck!! Flames ML, canes PL, nash/ny over 6

Oliver Trigg

Why on earth would you put your rent on Carolina when there was St Louis to bet on?? Bet Flames and Blues all day if it was that serious!

Arto Reinikainen

Holy crap a good reminder how difficult these spoiler teams can be. You could cut the tension with a knife.

Every year it’s the same thing but it always manages to surprise. Good example why the Bolts losing to the Coyotes for example isn’t necessarily because the Bolts suck. Or that the Canes suck right now.
