Despite only 3 games last night, it was an enjoyable night of hockey.

The Leafs battled well against the Washington Capitals and it was good to see these guys up for the game. They hammered 27 shots against Grubauer and while it was a loss – for the Leafs, that game was a victory and they will have a lot of confidence going into their next game.

In what was expected to be a tight game the Blackhawks pounded the Red Wings in Detroit with a 5-2 victory.

Montreal battled well with the Ducks and Galchenyuk managed to score twice. The game went to a shootout where the Ducks won.

We go from three games last night to twelve tonight with the majority of NHL teams in action. A lot of interesting games – the Rangers visit Pittsburgh hoping to pick up another win. Blackhawks got the big win last night but a tricky trip to Boston is going to make for a good game. Can the Ducks turn their streak into double figures with a win over the Coyotes?

Let’s get to the tips tonight:

Oilers vs Flyers Betting Tips:

Since Giroux came back the Flyers have been on fire. Some big wins in high scoring games. They have their defensive problems but their offense is clicking on all cylinders.

Oilers have tightened up a fair bit at the back lately and got a couple of wins out of it. Talbot has been stellar these last couple of games. These two however usually open each other up and it should be a good battle. I like both teams on the offense here and hopefully the Oilers offense gets it going as well.

Lightning vs Senators Betting Tips:

I’ve actually been impressed with Ottawa lately. I’ve mentioned it before on here but my daughter is a Sens fan so I end up watching all the games with her. Sens seem to be one of those teams playing without pressure at the moment. But I just can’t ignore the Tampa Bay Lightning at the moment. Since things have settled down with their roster and Stamkos etc they’ve been absolutely fantastic and the team chemistry there is huge.

Complacency shouldn’t be an issue. Ottawa beat them 5-1 here 3 weeks ago so I’d expect Lightning to be motivated for this one.

Predators vs Devils Betting Tips:

I absolutely love everything about the Devils right now. They are playing some excellent hockey and playing very well. They’re going up against a Devils team who really struggle to score. Preds should shut the Devils out here or come close. Either way with the way both teams are playing it’s very hard to see the Devils hanging around with the Predators here.

A Few Other Thoughts:

A lot of games today and it led to a lot of interesting discussions this morning between the two of us. A couple of other thoughts on todays games:

Leafs/Wild: Wild are such an odd team at the moment. The coaching change helped but then they started losing again. They look good enough to beat the weaker teams but that’s it. Leafs are a weaker team of course. However I liked a lot of what I saw against the Capitals and think the Leafs have some value today.

Islanders vs Jets: Islanders should win on this one and it was extremely close to becoming an official pick for us. We just weren’t super happy with the odds. Islanders have also faltered a little bit on this road trip. Jets are absolute trash at the moment and can’t seem to perform at home.

Rangers vs Penguins: In what I feel is a 50/50 game(even with home advantage for the Pens), I think the Rangers line has slight value as you can get it at least 2.25.

Experimental Betting Systems:

I’ve loosened things up a bit on the 1st period system and it’s requirements for a pick. I wasn’t happy with the quantity of the picks – over a week without a pick. I’ll be tracking it with a high confidence/medium confidence ratio below. I’d recommend however still flat betting 1 unit and not treating either as anything special at this time.

OHL Betting Tips: Hamilton/Peterborough Over 7 goals. Barrie Colts -1.5.

You can bet the OHL at:

Canadians: Bodog and 888 Sports.
Americans: Bovada.
Everyone Else: 888 Sports.

1st Period System – High Confidence: Philadelphia Flyers 2.65, Tampa Bay Lightning 2.75,

1st Period System – Medium Confidence: Florida Panthers 3.05, New York Rangers 3.40, Anaheim Ducks 2.65.

Everyone Except Americans: Bet 1st periods at 888 Sports.

Americans: Bet 1st Periods at BetOnline. or Bovada.

Nhl

Do you think Ducks will win by 2

Jape Maalindog

Im not really a Ducks fan, may be by a point but sometimes they can blow a team by more than 3. Covers.com consensus are
Flyers
Predators
Sharks
Lightning
Ducks
Islanders

magus1349

I am a Ducks fun, but after what i see in the last 2 games played , i avoid to bet on them.

Jape Maalindog

Chitown Sharp

Love TB tonight. Like the Islanders and the Flyers too, although the value on the Flyers isn’t that great.

MSF Wireless MSF Wireless

Tampa is a great team. But they are facing a team that can really score. But with hamound in net Tampa will have a hard time scoring enough goals to keep up. Sens win tonight.

TBaKer316

Loving lighting tonight along w preds and sharks

BOS ML — while the Bhawks have thrived in back-to-back situations, I think it’s a tricky spot for them here. I have confidence in backup netminder Scott Darling, but I can see a pretty potent Bruins offense putting a ton of pressure on the Bhawks. The visitors will get their goals, too, as Boston can give up their fair share of scoring opportunities. I am the biggest Bhawks fan but I cannot pick them here. BOS 4 CHI 3.

PHIL in REG/ML — either way, I like the Flyers to continue their offensive surge. They are a few points away from the wild card and I see them really taking it to the Oilers. Edm has won twice in a row and I cannot remember the last time they’ve put together a 3-game winning streak. Neuvirth gets the start and he’s been playing very well of late and is 9-2-2 at home. Giroux will score a pair, gimme the Flyers 5 Edm 1.

DUCKS REG/ML — again either way, the Ducks had their little “scare” last night in a shootout victory over MTL. Arizona comes home devastated by a long road trip and traded players. I usually like to bet against teams that are coming off a road trip (see Red Wings last night?), coupled with how well Ducks are playing right now, I have to QUACK QUACK to the bank! Ducks 4 AZ 2.

Montreal ML — Yes. I did it. I picked the Habs. Scrivens will be in net to face his former team and take on his pal Johnathan Quick. I liked the way the Habs played tough vs Anaheim last night. They showed me some grit. No travel involved in this one as the stadiums are like 40 minutes apart. LA has been averaging like 2 goals a game for a bit now, which is their style. Phil Danault tips in the game-winner with under a minute left and the Habs come away with a 2-1 win.

Other winners: San Jose, Tampa. Good luck all!

I’m feeling you on a mtl victory here but not enough to fire a bet. They played a hell of a game lastnight they deserved the W. Love the fact they caught back at the Anaheim agression. Just not sure how physically beat they are today. L.A is another physical team. Good luck man I already respect your input highly.

SanDiegoBruinsD

HDV – why not go CBH-Bs over? Either team could win tonight, but I like a lot of goals being scored. Neither team is a defensive juggernaut.

I Flyers too, but not enough value to bet it.

Yotes are putting in a rookie with no NHL experience to speak of. He’s going to get lit up and, like you said, the team has no confidence right now and is playing out the string against a surging Ducks team. PL all the way.

Montreal? yikes

Henry Del Valle Sr.

Yes you are correct that BH/Bs will most likely go over. Call me crazy or call me lion, but I just have that feeling Habs can steal one here. Kings don’t often score a ton of goals, so I give MTL a freaky chance here. Kind of like the ugly guy in the crowd that picks up the hot girl at the bar. It’s possible, ya know?

Canucklehead

How do you think I found my wife!

Henry Del Valle Sr.

Well that was an easy one for the B’s. And the Over as well. Went just how I thought. Flyers really crapped in their pants. Talbot played a hell of a game and Philly hit numerous posts. Just one of those games I guess.

Luan Duong

any thoughts on the sharks? betnhl

BetNHL.ca

Don’t like the odds with OT/SO. Could take them in regulation but The Canucks always concern us. Not a walkover game by any means and we felt there was a lot more value elsewhere today.

Luan Duong

i like nashville, but my site its at -240 ml . thats insane.

Hello my fellow gamblers. Last night was a great night. 5 for 5 bets hit. Today I’m betting 5 units on Anaheim in regulation and 5 units on Minnesota in regulation. The rest I don’t like.

Good luck all let’s make this paper.

MSF Wireless MSF Wireless

Boom another nail biter with Minnesota but the W feels good. Also the Anaheim bet looking good sitting at a 3 goal lead. Hope you guys are fairing well.

MSF Wireless MSF Wireless

Another perfect 10 unit night :)))

SanDiegoBruinsD

SDB is in the house. I’m out of town but taking a few minutes to throw in my thoughts.

NYR-Pens is a tough call. I think the NYR got both a talent and moral boost with addition of Staal so I like them to win, but not with a great deal of confidence.

CBH-Bruins Over – this will not be a tight scoring game. Both teams are capable of scoring 3-4 goals and you can bet the Bs are bringing a high compete level vs the defending Cup champs. Rask isn’t exactly Vezina form this year so he can be leaky as well as they defense. Hawks likewise.

Flyers should beat the hapless Oilers but not enough value to put in a bet. The Oilers are pesky so this could be closer than it should be. Both goalies are playing well but with a 5 it’s risky to go under. Staying away.

Sabres ML – this is a total goalie play. Hiller has been dreadful and Buffalo always brings it.

Wild PL – they are playing really well and have been scoring bunches of goals. This could easily be a blow out despite the fact that Sparks has played well.

Ducks PL – I predict the kid is going to get lit up for 4+ goals and Yotes will be chasing all night. Anderson and Ducks D will keep Yotes to 2.

Habs-Kings Over 5 – I expect a push but at -120 that’s enough value for a small bet on the over.

Isles ML – at -130 this is just enough value to pull the trigger

Devils – Preds – I don’t think the odds makers are gving the Devils their due, I don’t expect them to win but I do expect it to be close. Could be an OT game, but I don’t bet those.

Avs-Cats – I kind of like the Avs in this game because of the long road trip for Cats, but not with confidence.

Sharks-Canucks – no value

Big Salami Over

good luck boys

Canucklehead

Good catch on the rookie in net for the Yotes. I saw you mention rookie in another comment and jumped on the over. It was tight, but the Ducks did their job. Cheers!

SanDiegoBruinsD

7-3-2 tonight

lion

Tonight picks

Blackhawks win %100
Flames win %100

Henry Del Valle Sr.

I’m with ya on Montreal. I think they’re gonna do it tonight!

lion

I must change my way. I do sticks to some teams. That is really effecting much. I will share 2 types of tips. My sticks and others.
Lets see what is gonna happen.

For giggles:

Rangers in regulation
Flyers in regulation
Sabres in regulation
Bruins-Hawks OT
Wild in regulation
Senators-Lightning OT
Jets in regulation
Predators in regulation
Panthers in regulation
Ducks in regulation
Canucks-Sharks OT
Kings in regulation

For realzies:

Rangers ML
Flyers ML
Bruins-Hawks OT
Wild ML
Jets ML
Preds ML
Kings ML

I spent a lot of time thinking about tonights picks and im not really sure what to expect. Lately these bigger rounds have been a disaster, probably not thinking about each game enough, unlike when there’s 7 games or less. But there’s some favorites, some ballsy picks and some OT’s.

So many games so not going to go into details. I hope it’s going to be a good night, and if not at least i feel like there’s A LOT to take notes from, for future picks. A very good variation of games.

Good luck !
