Pretty nice story yesterday of Rick Nash leaving the Leafs vs Rangers game during the 2nd period to be with his wife, who was giving birth to their child.

Even nicer that the rest of the Rangers team apparently left to be with her as well. That’s the only conclusion I can come up with for that beating the Rangers took. What an incredible second period though.

Seriously – what a hilarious game last night and it never fails to amuse me when a team struggle at home then light it up on the road. Hopefully Reimer is okay though and can make a push for more playing time.

Alright so it’s October 13th, 2014 and we’ve got 4 games on today. We kick off with Avs vs Bruins at 1pm EST, then immediately following that is the Ducks on the road in Buffalo. Panthers then host the Senators, while at the same time the Habs attempt to go 4-0-0 with a game against Tampa Bay.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of our Canadian friends. Hope you have a good day of beer, hockey and turkey.

Bruins vs Avalanche Betting Tips:

The Avs have had a horror start to the season. Not only have they lost twice but they’ve just looked atrocious while doing so. You have to wonder if Iggy will be trying to psych the team up tonight for his first game at the TD since leaving Boston.

Bruins had a good first night but were dominated by the Capitals and also lost to the Red Wings. Kejci might be able to play for them.

Either way, we like the Bruins to bounce back while the Avs continue to struggle. We’re getting pretty darn good odds on Boston in regulation. Bruins are 1.57 to win but 1.95 in regulation which is a massive price and close to a coinflip.

Ducks vs Sabres Betting Tips:

Ducks continue the road trip, as they open the season with 4 games on the road. They hammered 4 past the Penguins but lost 6-4 in the opener, then beat the Wings 3-2.

Sabres meanwhile lost 3-1 in their opener then 6-2 on the road in Chicago. They are playing at home today.

We like the Ducks to win – but after debating it, we’re going to go with Over 5.5 goals instead. We’re getting 2.10 odds on this and in these matchups, the Ducks have the capability to go over the 5.5 by themselves. Ducks are an electric team on offense but leaking goals, and Buffalo – well, they are leaking goals as well.

Canadiens vs Lightning Betting Tips:

At 2.15 odds, we have to take the Habs here.

In their first two games, Tampa have looked underwhelming. Very, very underwhelming. They have that look about them at times where they think just being on the ice is enough – that 3rd period against Ottawa was a good example of that. Even 2-1 down there was no urgency about them – and even at 2-2, it was the same.

Habs meanwhile are riding the wave right now. To come back against Philly like that gives a team just ridiculous confidence. We just have to ride the hot team at the moment when they’re getting 2.15 odds. With it being the last game of their road trip before returning to Montreal with a 2 day break ahead – you have to hope they’ll push just that little bit further.
