Hi guys,

Sorry about the delay in tips today. I’m heading off to St. Lucia tomorrow night with the family and getting everything packed and ready for that. Don’t worry – this won’t affect tips(other than todays delay). Scott will be handling the write-ups of the tips when I am gone and we’ll do our best to communicate each day and discuss the tips.

So last night was a push and a loss. We had the Bruins/Red Wings under 5 goals. That ended 2-2 and then went to overtime and finally a shootout. So we get our money back there – all good, and based on the game it was probably the right bet. I do hate that “5” line for the Over/Under though. When it’s 2-2 with 17 minutes left you know you’re either getting a refund or losing and it’s a lot more stressful. Especially if it goes 3-2 because ugh – empty netters can be killers there.

Our loss was with the Blackhawks -1.5. Hawks lost in overtime against the Flames. No regrets there. Blackhawks dominated Calgary, had 50 shots on goal, 7 freaking powerplays and yet couldn’t get the job done. That’s hockey for you.

Just a quick reminder that our free $20 bet at Sports Interaction expires the end of this month. We’re hoping to get it extended but just in case we don’t, be sure to take advantage of it by clicking this link: Sports Interaction (Exclusive: $20 Free Bet for Canadians) or for Americans try out Bovada and everyone else Bet365.com..

We’re working on more free bets in November with other sportsbooks.

Let’s get to the NHL Betting Tips for October 16th, 2014:

Hurricanes vs Rangers Betting Tips:

We like the Over 5.5 here at 2.20 odds.

Both teams are scoring lots of goals and conceding lots of goals this season. All but one out of the 7 games these teams have played overall has went Over 5.5. Rangers are usually good for 2-3 a game scoring, while conceding a fair ton.

The injuries pile up at Carolina, with Sekera and Liles now out. That’ll affect their D which is good for the Rangers goals, but Carolina showed against Buffalo their offense can still score. Granted it’s Buffalo – but the Rangers seem unable to shut up shop at the moment either.

Over 5.5 is 2.20 odds. Bet at Sports Interaction (Exclusive: $20 Free Bet for Canadians) or for Americans try out Bovada and everyone else Bet365.com..

Penguins vs Stars Betting Tips:

Over 5.5 on this one.

Penguins are scoring at will at the moment, but also conceding at will – especially on the penalty kill. That’s going to be tough against a hot Dallas offense – they looked extremely solid against the Blue Jackets.

We’ll back the hot offenses here and go with Over 5.5 goals.

Senators vs Avalanche Betting Tips:

With the line at 5.5 we have to go with the Under here.

Neither team has had 6 goals on a game yet. The Avs line is struggling bad, and after the hammering by Minnesota they’re playing more conservatively on the road.

Ottawa are tight, and even though this is their first game at home we can’t see them pushing up too much. Hoping this will be a quiet game.

Grand Salami: Over 39.5 Goals

For people unaware – the Grand Salami is the overall goal line for the night. So we’re betting that when you add up all the goals from the 7 games today, there will be Over 39.5 goals.

Lot of good possibilities for the goals tonight with quite a few games that should go mental goals wise.

You can bet the Grand Salami at Sports Interaction (Exclusive: $20 Free Bet for Canadians) or for Americans try out Bovada and everyone else Bet365.com.. Might be under props.
