1-1 last night with the tips.

Our win came when we had the Canadiens to beat the Wings and they did 2-1 in OT.  This was a scoreless game after the first 2 periods, and then they traded goals in the 3rd.

The other tip was the Capitals to beat the Leafs but the Leafs snapped their 3 game losing streak when they won 4-2.  We had thought a lot about this game going Over 5.5 but we backed away with Holtby getting the start.  Nice to see Matthews scoring again after being held without a goal for so long.  Matthews will get all of the attention but Marner is just an amazing player.  To be so young and to do the things that he does is incredible.

6 games today and the start times give us a day full of hockey.

Lightning vs Bruins  Betting Tips:

The Lightning are looking to get back on track after taking a loss on Friday to the Jackets 5-3.  The Bruins are on a 3 game losing skid.

Both teams are without their captains as Stamkos and Chara are out with injuries.  But as we saw last year, the Lightning are capable of winning without Stamkos.

Getting decent odds for a Lightning win and I like their chances so I’m taking them to win this game.

Lightning win

Jets, Coyotes, Canes and Flyers.

I am taking the over 5 for the Bruins @2.00 and will decide the rest after seeing how it goes. I am thinking about the Flyers, maybe the over for that one too. I also like your 1st period prediction for the Rangers.

Where do you find the stats for the 1st period system by the way? I am looking for something like a goal differntial for each period, or records, but could not find anything.

BetNHL.ca

It’s all our own system data that we scrape. Not sure if there are any online resources where you can filter 1st period I had a quick look but didn’t see anything.

Norbert Buzási

There was something on NHL.com, I believe, but I can not find it anymore. (Have not checked it in a while.)

Can not find anything. :/

BetNHL.ca

The high value prices can make it worth the work to do it yourself. And a lot of nice data to play with. Worth spending the time to do it.

Norbert Buzási

Scrolled through the games as there are only a few this season. The Rangers won 10 of the 22 first periods so far (5 of 12 at home) outscoring them 21:16 (10:6 at home), the Sens lost 8 of 21 (3 of 8 on the road) and are outscored 11:17 (3:6 on the road). Yes, I might get track of it somewhere myself, altough I usually looking for a moneyline and over bets.

Johnny Hockey

Stolarz will make his NHL debut on Sunday vs. Calgary. – Could be going OVER

Norbert Buzási

The Flyers looked good against the Rangers, so I was going to make the bet on them winning against the Flames, but I am not sure what to expect from the debutant. Anyone know anything about him?

Arto Reinikainen

Stolarz is a huge goalie at 6’6″. Positional goalie who uses his size to cover the net. Basically the modern type goaltender. Last year posted 91.6 save pct in the AHL, and started off well this year with the Phantoms going 92.7%. I wouldn’t be that worried. I’ve been waiting when they give him a chance and was surprised to see them rolling with Mason in B2B games earlier on.

Norbert Buzási

Thank you for the information. I see you got them with the handicap, but I am more of a moneyline guy. I am thinking about the ML Flyers or the 5.5o. at around 1.75 & 2.00

magus1349

It’s tricky. The other players of the team know they have a debutant in the net and will try to be a little bit more careful in defense.

SanDiegoBruinsD

agreed. Seen this before when teams rally around the new goalie. One thing we know, he can’t be worse than what they have now. Worst GA in the league.

Eduardo Caldeira

love this comment eheh there should be some likes

Chris

Do you bet them all together or individual ?

Arto Reinikainen

Kind of unlucky last night, but partly also my fault. 4 of 5 the teams i picked to win in regulation won in OT. I knew some of those teams did not have the greatest offensive flow recently, and not taking that into consideration cost me and games dragged on to OTs. But still it’s kind of positive to see them all win. Also i was happy to see the Leafs pull off that regulation win, and the Wild were also able to tie it up late for that OT pick.

Pens were obviously a disappointment (lack of focus at times in a game where you need to be on your toes) and the Sharks just couldn’t tie it up. I was a bit surprised to see Bernier play that well against them, but after hearing the Sharks were 0-7-1 when trailing after 2 periods, and the Ducks were 8-0-0 after leading, it wasn’t that surprising after all.

Tonights picks:

Jets to win @ 2.20 / +120

Why: All the same reasons i picked Leafs to win it last night. They’ll be desperate and fired up, and having that underdog status is always very helpful for these type of games. Jets have been way better at home this year, and generally have had no problems scoring goals. But just because they’ve had offensive struggles lately on the road, that might also carry over, so going with ML to play it safer. Neal is out for the Preds.

What can go wrong: If the game goes to OT everything is possible, especially in the SO. But im banking on the Jets at least not breaking in regulation.

Lightning to win @ 2.21 / +121

Why: Bruins are struggling offensively right now. They have been fairly defensive-minded team so far this year, so it’s really not that surprising to see them hitting this drought. Chara still out. Bolts have lost 2 of the last 4 games, so im expecting them to want this game and finish the week off on a positive note. Im assuming Vasilevskiy is in net, and he’s been great lately, meanwhile Rask is a bit shaky and he’s been terrible against the Bolts (86.4 save pct since 14-15, wow). Bottom line is, when you can’t score playing against the Bolts is pretty damn tough as they are one of the best teams in finding ways to score. Surprised to see them have such good value tonight and that makes me want to play it safe and go with ML.

What can go wrong: If the Bruins solve Vasilevskiy and score first, or just find the scoring touch in general, then it will be a whole different game. But there’s really not a lot that would suggest that happens.

Senators in regulation @ 4.10 / +310

Why: Insane odds for a team that’s won 3 in a row. I understand Rangers are a tough team to beat, but if we look at their home form it’s not good at the moment. They’ve lost 3 straight at home and if i look back at the 2 last home games (Panthers, Penguins) they’ve been anything but lethal. Senators play great defensively, they could make it extremely tough on the Rangers tonight and they seem to be able to win 1 goal games right now.

What can go wrong: Quite a lot as it is just “roll the dice” type of bet. Condon, who im assuming in net, has been good this year, but he’s still just a backup who doesn’t see the ice that much. If he can’t make some key saves they will lose (conceded 5 goals on 30 shots last year in his only appearance vs Rangers). Also it’s not like the Rangers offense have been bad lately, on the road they’ve been able to score, so it’s not out of the question that they get it going offensively at home too.

Flyers handicap (-1.5) @ 3.22 / +222

Why: Desperate team. Philly’s offense is coming and they usually score a lot of goals in these type of games. Recent example of an identical game was when the Jets visited Flyers. Jets had won 3 games in a row IIRC, and the Flyers had lost 4 of their last 5 games. Flyers won 5-2. Bottom line is, i expect the Flyers to get something going tonight. Giroux and Voracek have to step up. Stolarz has been good in the AHL, so im not that worried that he’s in for his 1st NHL game.

What can go wrong: Flyers still can’t get the floodgates open before it’s too late for this bet.

Other games: I like the Oilers to win, but at the same time i don’t think it’ll be as easy as the odds suggest, so passing on that. Also can’t decide between the Panthers and Hurricanes.

Good luck !

AlansonD

Good news. Anderson is in net for Ottawa and Raanta for NY. Raanta is 5-0-0. It’s like yesterday can’t believe the 6-0-0.

Caesium

Anderson was huge again! Nice job!

Caesium

Where do you get this odds? They are usually higher than majoraty.

Arto Reinikainen

I have my bankroll divided between 5 different bookers, that compliment eachother very well and there’s always a top odd to be had from one of them. Betbrain.com is an excellent tool to follow the odds.

Johnny Hockey

You’re machine!

SanDiegoBruinsD

Crazy night…6 of 9 games decided by OT or SO.

sh0t0kan

them damn Caps

Eduardo Caldeira

BetNHL are u posting more for today? anyways I agree on the tampa pick with juicy odds

the flames look like another decente pick also but not sure if it could be a high or low scoring game. johnson has been on fire

BetNHL.ca

Just the 1. Other games we couldn’t agree on or there were big factors to scare us off such as the canes goalie situation. We were close with flames with Johnson starting but 5th game on road trip can be hard for a team performing strongly in one specific area.

Eduardo Caldeira

yes but not to refer philly has been struggling also it all will come up if the flames can be effective how they have been. Elliot is better but its obvious that the whole team is on Chad Johnson. Buffalo might be kicking themselves for that lost 😛

I did follow also 2 of your WHL picks… finnished 1-1 good thing I got away from the other 2 otherwise it would have been a 1-3.. not that I dont like the picks but those over 7.5 for me are too high, even if stats do say there is that value

SanDiegoBruinsD

Preds – simply the better team, at least on paper. GPG 3rd v 16th, GA 11th v 25th, Gdiff 6th v 23rd. Saros nearly stoned the Pens last time out when his team was 50% AHL players.

Canes – this team likes being at home and if Reimer is in net for Cats I like the Canes chances.

Norbert Buzási

Nice, once again. I got them for 2.88. Alogside with the Flyers ML, after I had a push with the Bruins 5o.

AlansonD

It’s easy to win, isn’t it?

Norbert Buzási

It seems like it is easy for you 🙂 For me, not so much.

AlansonD

Oh I thought so because you were pointing on your nice predictions last night. 😛

Norbert Buzási

I am winning some, losing some. 😀

Norbert Buzási

Rask is in shutout mode unfortunatelly.
