A disappointing 0-2 yesterday.

I called it correctly in the Flyers vs Panthers game – that there would be a lot of penalties. Watching the first two periods of that game I forgot what 5 on 5 hockey actually looked like. Unfortunately it didn’t communicate to the usual goals and we missed out on the over.

We had the Jets to beat the Islanders and that was a frustrating one. Jets got physical in that game – which didn’t go well for them. They were given countless penalties, and the Islanders picked up 2 PPGs out of it. Islanders came out motivated and desperate for the W and the Jets response was ugly.

It was a good reminder of how hunger can really affect things. There are a couple of games tonight I’ll be betting purely for value – but can’t recommend in the tips due to this early stage of the season. They are Habs @ 2.20 odds, Flames @ 2.10 odds, Canucks @ 2.65 odds.

Tonight there are 9 games in action. The 3-0 Habs take on the 0-2 Penguins in Pittsburgh. Sharks vs Capitals will be a very interesting one, and it’ll be interesting to see if the Panthers can bounce back as they take on the 0-2 Hurricanes. McDavidWatch will be in full effect with the Oilers visiting the Dallas Stars.

Let’s get to the betting tips:

Stars vs Oilers Betting Tips:

The Stars wiped the floor with the Penguins in their first game but lost to the Avs. The Oilers have played 2, lost 2 and are yet to put the puck in the back of the net. Edmonton media is already in crisis mode.

The Oilers were actually a tricky matchup for the Stars last season. They beat them 4-0 on March 28th, and previously the Stars scraped through 6-5 and 3-2.

I do have my concerns. If the Oilers can get an early goal it can give their confidence a much needed boost. Yak and McDavid together is a solid 2nd line that is going to get better as time goes on. And the Stars are making some major line changes already.

But I do like the Stars to win, and believe they can do it in regulation. I’m taking Stars in regulation – 1.86 odds at http://www.5Dimes.eu for Americans(Need to register to see lines) and and http://www.Bet365.com for everyone else..

Capitals vs Sharks Betting Tips:

Both teams have excellent offences, and they had two great games last season with 9 goals and 11 goal thrillers. Capitals had a great game against the Devils with 8 goals in it, and we’re hoping for more. The key will be them breaking down Martin Jones and if they can do that early on we should be good.

Take Over 5.5 goals at 2.15 odds.

Daily Prop Bet:

Over the course of the season we are going to be providing daily prop bets. While we’re applying all our knowledge – these are generally for added fun and win or lose – we will keep the record separate from our regular record.

For todays prop bet, we are going with Sharks vs Capitals: Period 2 the Highest Scoring Period at 3.40 odds. Both these teams generally start slow and really get going in the 2nd period.

You can bet that at Sports Interaction (Canada), Bovada (USA) and for everyone else 888 Sports
