The Oilers vs Ducks series got underway last night, and it was the crazy one might expect. The Ducks have been a high variance team all season, and the Oilers aren’t exactly the stediest of ships. We saw Oilers go up 2-0, blow it to go down 3-2, then turn it around to get the all important Game 1 victory.

A second shocker for the Penguins as they got shut out by the Flyers. Those Flyers defensive metrics are legit and that is going to be a concern as the game heads across state.

Canes got the tight double OT win over the Sens, and Dallas managed to bounce back against the Wild.

Let’s look at tonights games:

Canadiens vs Lightning Game 2 Betting Tips

Scott: The Hab looked great in game 1 Slafkovsky scoring the hat trick and the kept the Lightning to 19 shots, which is hard to do against a offensive team like the Lightning.

The Lightning can’t afford to go down 2-0 in the series before it moves to Montreal where their fans are maniacs and will give them a big boost. Have to go including overtime after game 1.

Lightning win in Regulation

Graeme: The Habs got the win against Tampa and I felt fully deserved it. It’s always tough to say after one game, and it’s so easy to change opinion after one game. But I went with Tampa based on the long-term data, and so will stick with that for now.

Bruins vs Sabres Game 2 Betting Tips:

Scott: The Sabres scored 4 goals in the 3rd period and came back to win game one 4-3.

This looks like it’s going to be a good series. The Buffalo fans have waited 15 long years for a playoff game and they were a loud help to the team. I want to take the Sabres here but the Bruins looked decent so I’ll take them.

Graeme: I said that I smelled an upset in this series. Game 1 was certainly close, with a massive 3rd period. That can give the Sabres confidence as well as momentum to carry onto this game.

Those two factors are enough for me to go Sabres in Regulation.

Mammoth vs Golden Knights Game 2 Betting Tips:

Scott: The Knights scored 3 times in the 3rd and won 4-2.

It’s hard to see the Knights losing this game especially with them still at home. They allowed more shots than they had so that has to be something they address but I still like their chances.

Knights win in regulation

Graeme: Feels like we are getting some nice odds on the Knights. I mentioned they were coming into the playoffs at the right time based on advanced metrics, and happy to roll with that. Knights in Regulation.

Kings vs Avalanche Game 2 Betting Tips:

Scott: Game 1 was closer than I thought it would be. The Avalanche are still at home so they should win game 2.

Not really much else to say. I picked the Avs to win the series and thought they’d do it in 5 games. I still like that play. Unfortunately Avs in regulation odds are too low for me, so no bet.

Graeme: Truthfully I was ready to come in here ready to go with Avs -1.5. However looking at the advanced metrics – not really loving that. One of those things in Game 1 where things went their way a bit – two high danger goals, things could have easily went the other way.

Despite that, I’m going to go with Avs -1.5 tonight. I think they will have shaken off some cobwebs after that one.

Big v

Came back to re check the tips now that most of the games are done (except Avs / Kings). Zig Zag theory was in full effect tonight! Not only NHL but NBA. I blindly backed Utah after seeing the results of the first 2 games. Just another thing to consider in the post season ! 😂

Eric Børgesen

Finally playoff season!!!!
That means puck line season!!!
Sabres W ML, Reg, -1🥳🥳
Knights ML, Reg, -1 🥳🥳

Avs and Tampa should win but too close and upsets could happen here – No bets!

Kimball

Habs are too young and fast for a veteran Bolts lineup. Tampa will try to get greasy but it won’t come out well for them if we have decent reffs ? Habs 2 way 1 unit .

Jores

5-1 Bolts tonight with goals from Guentzel (2), Kucherov, Point and Hagel
