I had the Sharks to win in regulation for our tip and they did 3-2.
The Sabres beat the Lightning 4-2 to move into a tie for 1st in the Atlantic. The Jets beat the Kraken 6-2 and are now 3 points out and the Kings beat the Preds 3-2 in a shootout to get back into the wild card spot.
11 games tonight. After tonight the playoff picture should start to become a little bit clearer.
Jackets vs Wings
Big game between the 10th and 11th place teams. They are toed in points and only 2 points behind the Sens who are in 8th.
Not sure who wins this game but it should be a good one.
Bruins vs Hurricanes
Bruins have lost their last 3 games. They have 95 points in 7th and have a 6 point lead over the 9th place Isles.
The Canes are in 1st in the Metro and by gaining a single point in any of their remaining 5 games will lock up the Metro Division.
With Bruins needing points and the Canes needing only 1 to clinch their division I expect a good game here.
Lightning vs Senators
The Lightning are in 1st in the Atlantic and have won their last 2 games. They are still fighting for top spot in the Atlantic and have a 2 point lead over the Sabres but did just play yesterday.
The Sens are currently in 8th the East but its such a clusterfuck at the bottom of the standings there that it’s hard to tell who will claim the two wild card spots.
The Lightning should win but they just played so I can’t back them with enough confidence. The Sens are 2-3-1 in last 6 which also doesn’t give me any confidence.
Panthers vs Canadiens
Panthers are eliminated after winning the last 2 Stanley Cups. They can now play spoiler and they have the perfect rosternto ruin teams chances.
The Habs have already clinched a place so they have nothing to worry about. They can still catch and pass the teams ahead of them but will need to win a majority of their remaining games.
Flyers vs Devils
The Flyers are firmly in that mess in the East. They are in 3rd in the Metro but only have a 1 point lead over the Isles. They need to win as much as they can to get in and stay there.
The Devils can still make it but they have so much ground to gain and would need the teams in front of them to lose so they are basically out.
The Flyers have the edge in CF, the Devils CA. Flyers SF, Devils SA. It seems that they trade each other where one is better on one side the other has the advantage in the other. Have to pass.
Flames vs Stars
The Flames are all but eliminated at this point. Its hard to back a team that has had such a rough season.
Stars haven’t been great of late going 3-5-2. They are already locked into a playoff spot and are 8 behind the Avalanche and 2 ahead of the Wild.
Would have to take the Stars -1.5 and witj their recent results I feel better just passing.
Avalanche vs Blues
Avalanche should win here but the not sure how much effort they have to give at this point with such a big lead over the Stars.
Kraken vs Wild
Wild should win this game. They are on a 4 game win streak and in 3rd in the Central.
The Kraken played yesterday and are in 13th.
Need to take Wild -1.5 which isn’t that hard to see happening but the last time they played each other it was the Wild winning 3-2 in overtime so I have to pass.
Oilers vs Mammoth
Oilers fighting to stay in 1st in the Pacific.
The Mammoth are in 7th and really can’t move any higher in the standings as the team they are chasing is the Wild who have more points than the Mammoth would have if they were to win out the remaining games this season. They have won their last 3 games.
Should be a good game here which makes it tough to call.
Predators vs Ducks
The Preds played yesterday.
The Ducks, along with the Oilers and the Knights are fighting for the Pacific. These teams are only separated by a single point. They aren’t helping their chances as they have lost 5 in a row allowing the Oilers to pass them.
Knights vs Canucks
Knights are in the middle of the battle to win the Pacific.
The Canucks have long been eliminated.
The Knights need any and all points they can get at this point if they are to win the division and its games like this where if they don’t win it they are shooting themselves in the foot.
