The Bruins go from scoring 10 goals to 1 but a win is a win which is their 3rd straight.  Jets won their 2nd straight after beating the Devils 4-3.  Jackets beat the Mammoth 3-2 in OT.

Ovie scored first, it was his 20th which gives him 21 straight seasons to hit that many, but the Preds answered with 3 of their own and beat the Caps 3-2.  The Knights won their 4th in a row beating the Sharks 7-2 snapping the Sharks win streak at 3.

A busy Monday with 9 games.

Hurricanes vs Red Wings

The Canes have been on a tear of late winning their last 4 games in a row.  And the Wings have also been playing well winning their last 3 games.

They last played at the end of December with the Canes winning 5-2.   Both are in 1st in their divisions but the Wings have played 3 more games than the 2nd place team Lightning who are on fire so they need to keep it up.

The Canes have much better Corsi numbers, are better in Shots for and against, GF and XGF.  Just tough to back a road team in regulation against a team who is playing well.

Panthers vs Sabres

Panthers are dealing with a bunch of injuries and their depth is really going to be tested.  Jones joins Tkachuk, Barkov, Nosek, Kulikov on the IR.  They haven’t been great going 4-5-1 in last 10.

The Sabres are playing great winning their last 3 games and are 9-1 in last 10.  They had won 10 in a row before this streak.

Looking at the Panthers 9-9 road record vs the Sabres 14-5-2 home.  Throw in all of the injuries the Panthers have and the Sabres have a shot here.

Kraken vs Rangers

Despite losing their last 2 games, the Kraken are 7-1-2 in last 10.

The Rangers just got the shit kicked out of them by the Bruins and they should all be embarrassed by that effort.  They are on a 3 game skid and are 3-5-2 in last 10.  They are bad at home too going 5-11-4.

Miller called out the team and admitted it was his fault as much as anyone’s saying “It’s just unacceptable. Your leaders shouldn’t let games – and I’m talking about myself – get like that. The crowd should never be chanting, ‘We want 10!'”  I do expect them to have a better effort here and Miller is intense and is going to let his teammates hear it.

Lightning vs Flyers

The Lightning are playing great winning their last 9 games in a row.  The Flyers have lost the last 2 games.

They just played each other on Saturday so there really isn’t anything new to say here.

Canucks vs Canadiens

Can’t really see anything here.

The Canucks have lost 6 in a row and are 2-6-2 in last 10.  The Habs are 6-2-2 in last 10.  4 of their last 10 needed extra time.

Would lean towards Montreal but it would have to be in regulation and I’m not doing that.

Devils vs Wild

The Devils played the Jets yesterday.

The Wild haven’t been playing the best and it seems that they have gotten used to their shiny new player.  They have gone 4-2-4 in last 10.

Not taking the Devils who just played and not a fan of the Wild and their results so it’s a pass here.

Oilers vs Blackhawks

McDavid is on a 18 game point streak which is a career high.  The Oilers though havent been great going 5-4-1 in last 10 and are 11-11-3 on the road.

Bedard had a couple of assists in his 2nd game back.  They are a much better team with Bedsy in the lineup.  It’s hard to read to much into their record in the last 10 when he hasnt been there for most of it but they are 6-3-1.

I want to see the Hawks play some more with Bedard back before I tip them, but it was close here.

Leafs vs Avalanche

Both teams are playing well which makes it tough to pick a winner.

Both teams are in the top 5 in GPG which has me thinking over is a possibility but then I see the Avs are the top ranked team in GAPG and that has me put off.

The Leafs have won 3 in a row and are 7-1-2 in last 10. On the road they have gone an awful 6-10-2.

The Avalanche have won their last 2 games and are 8-2-0 in last 10.  They still haven’t lost in regulation at home going 19-0-2.  They are now without Toews and Landeskog who are both out.

I can’t bet against the Avalanche who are 1 win away from their team record 18th straight home win but not sure I want to take them -1.5 either with the way the Leafs have been playing

Stars vs Kings

Either team is playing that well at the moment.  Played last month and the Stars won 4-1.

The Stars are 3-3-4 in last 10.  Are ranked 3rd in GPG and 30th in SOG which explains them being ranked 1st in shooting percentage.

The Kings are 4-5-1 in last 10 but now have Kopitar on the IR.  Haven’t been great at home going 7-9-5.

Just can’t back the Stars right now and the Kings home play also has me off of them.
