After having their win streak stopped at 11 games, the Lightning got back in the win column beating the Stars 4-1. The Sens scored the first 2 goals of the game but the Wings came back to force OT where they won it 4-3. The Oilers scored 3 times in the 1st and came away with the 5-0 win against the Blues.
The Flames traded Rasmus Andersson to the Knights for picks, a prospect and a player. The Knights making a move shows that they are ready to make a run.
It’s Martin Luther King day so the games start early which gives us a day full of hockey.
Sabres vs Hurricanes
Sabres are 4-1-1 in last 6 and are in 5th in the Atlantic but not far back of the division leaders.
Canes have won last 2 games and have outscored the opposition 13-2. They are in 1st in the Metro. This team is tough as the game against the Panthers reminded us, they can show up big time.
Canes have better numbers in Corsi, Fenwick, SF/60 and SA/60 but the GF/60 and GA/60 are real close and this would have to be a regulation play so that has me off.
Capitals vs Avalanche
The Caps have lost their last 2 games. They are in position to make a run at a playoff spot but will need to get back on track.
The Avalanche took their first loss in regulation at home in their last outing so I’m curious to see how they respond. To be past the halfway point of the season before they lost in regulation is insane.
I want to see how they play after taking that loss.
Penguins vs Kraken
Both teams are in 3rd in their divisions.
Pens are 6-2-2 in last 10 games. The Kraken on a 3 game skid.
The Pens have the advantage in most all categories except when we get to GF and GA /60 and it’s not much of an advantage at all.
Sharks vs Panthers
The Sharks are 7-3-0 in last 10. They haven’t been great on the road going 11-11-0.
The Panthers are 5-4-1 last 10 and are 14-9-3 at home.
Just mixed results in the metrics which had me off here.
Wild vs Leafs
Wild are still in a bit of a funk. They are 4-3-3 in last 10. 4 of their last 8 games needed extra time.
The Leafs are 7-1-2 in last 10 and 5 of their last 8 games needed extra time.
With both teams needing so much overtime it’s tough to try and predict an outcome
Flyers vs Knights
Flyers really struggling right now. They have lost 6 in a row and all but one of those losses was by multiple goals.
The Knights are going the other way as they have won 7 straight and are in 1st place in the Pacific.
On the road the Flyers are 10-9-3 and at home the Knights are 12-6-6.
The Knights have the edge in the main categories and when we get to GF/60 and GA/60 and both expected goal numbers they have a nice advantage

Jets vs Blackhawks
Jets have their win streak snapped at 4 games in their last game. I just haven’t seen anything from them to make me want to take them.
Same goes for the Hawks. So I have to pass.
Devils vs Flames
The Devils need to get their shit together. We are past the halfway point of the season and they are in 7th in the Metro.
The Flames are in the same boat. This late in the season and they are in 7th in the Pacific. They just traded Andersson so I assume they are going to continue to make moves to start a rebuild.
Either team has been a safe bet this season so I’m passing.
Islanders vs Canucks
Nothing here. Canucks on a 10 game losing skid.
Rangers vs Ducks
The Rangers won their last game but before that they had lost 5 in a row. General Manager Chris Drury sent a message to their fans that they are starting a retooling. Not sure I can tip them until we see what moves they are about to make.
The Ducks have won their last 3 games but before that they were on a 9 game skid. Better numbers in Corsi, Fenwick, SF/60, SA/60, and both XG numbers.
