Apologies again for no tips yesterday. Was one of those insane days work wise. Hell even today – I usually have these tips done and out by like 9am. It’s 1pm as I start working on them all.
Man – there is a LOT of NHL games at the moment isn’t there?
Means a bunch of back to backs which I hate to back personally but still happy to give my analysis and at least we have more B2B data so I can even incorporate that.
Let’s get onto todays 8. At least tomorrow isn’t too bad for a Saturday.
Blackhawks vs Lightning
Definitely think Tampa take this, but with the odds would have to be -1.5. On the road. Eek.
Annoyingly, the metrics lean towards it. Was awhile since they last played – October, when the Hawks got the W. Tampa seem motivated for the playoffs.

Leafs vs Knights
Eh these two recently played and I’m happy to pass on it as both are pretty erratic at the moment. Looking purely at the merics the odds for the Knights to win seem spot on.
Stars vs Blues
Don’t have the confidence in the Stars to back them at regulation here. By the data its definitely close and I don’t hate the play. I think if they weren’t on the B2B I might go for it.
Avs vs Flyers
It’d have to be Avs -1.5 and the data isn’t there for that. Avs are starting to concern me a bit and going to have to pick spots to back them.
Flames vs Capitals
Bad run for Washington. Still decent favourites here. Metrics do lean that way. No play.
Kraken vs Ducks
Ducks playing well at the moment. Data is a bit of a mess. Over isn’t a bad shout if it was at 6 but at 6.5 its a pass for me. Just can’t trust the Ducks offense to bring the heat.
Canucks vs Devils
Canucks ended their skid and look to build on it. Devils are…kinda playing better? I don’t have the confidence to take Devils in reg, hesitant to back against Canucks ending their skid, and the metrics are all pretty erratic. A very easy pass although I don’t hate a cheeky bet on Vancouver. Like if their offense continues to produce against a poor goalscoring team like the Devils – I could see it.
Sharks vs Rangers
Close to coinflip odds seem about right. I do like the over based on all the advanced metrics but at 1.76 odds on average for over 6.5 it’s a pass.
Man, these Blackhawks man…
I guess we all have to remember they aren’t as bad as 2 years ago. Still, how teams like Canes and Tampa would struggle so much is a mystery to me.
In hindsight what you said on the Leafs vs Knights game was funnily enough, quite spot on:

Yeah it’s why we love to cover every game (when we started the site we’d only do 3 tips and cover only those games many years ago). As we can still throw out thoughts about random games etc and then if someones on the fence it can help 🙂
