We have 15 freaking games today.
15!
Next time the Olympics rolls around, it won’t surprise me if they start having double headers like in baseball. This is getting insane.
Thankfully going in on a winning note with Scott getting the Jackets call correct yesterday. One I know he was wary of due to how the Flyers can be.
Alright – let’s give it a go.
Canadiens vs Avalanche
Avs too inconsistent for me to back as I have said for the last little while now. By the data, I could see this going over though. Problem is, it is tight. I think it’s a 0EV play at the odds and it being 6.5 when all is said and done, but it’s close. If you were considering the over today I’d say back it.
Lightning vs Jets
Data doesn’t back up Tampa in reg and a bit iffy with their form.
Hurricanes vs Mammoth
Data is very close for both teams. If the xGA matched the GA I’d go under but the Mammoths does not. Goaltending been a big factor for both.
Sabres vs Kings
Sabres on a nice run now return home after a very successful road trip. Going up against an iffy Kings team. 1.80 seems about right here – by the metrics I’d give the kings the edge honestly but the Sabres offense is hot right now and if that continues they can take this. The risk is that can all go to tits when the fundamentals don’t back it up which is the case here.
Rangers vs Islanders
Just played.
Bruins vs Flyers
I really hoped there was enough to back the Bruins here in regulation but there’s not. Not even close. Philly better CF%, FF%, much better xGF%. But I ain’t backing Philly on the road in a back to back with their erratic goaltending.
Penguins vs Blackhawks
Pens on a tear. I truthfully hate backing the Pens. They have led to so many frustrating losses in certain confident spots going back years. I’m writing that because this is one of those spots. Better CF% and FF%, on a roll, returning home feeling good, great GF%, xGF% blah blah blah. Checks all the boxes. Couple of big misses in Rust and St. Ivany but running the individual player metrics it should hopefully not be as big a factor. Even looking into 5vs5 (due to both teams PP & PK records) it’s a play.

Devils vs Predators
Nothing here.
Red Wings vs Capitals
Hmm. This one is actually quite close to a Wings play. I’m just a bit concerned about their OT streak they had recently, and you look at who they are beating in regulation and it’s not as clear cut. But the metrics to go their way and you have to hope they can keep the motivation going.
I’m definitely a bit worried about how the Capitals will be. Wilson is firing them up calling it the biggest game of the year etc. But I still think there is enough.

Wild vs Flames
Two unbackable teams. The data maybe leans the Wild but with their goaltending at the moment….
Blues vs Panthers
By the data a slight lean on the Panthers but nowhere near enough to take them in regulation on the road.
Oilers vs Sharks
Data is too all over the place. With the GA/60s I wouldnt back the over.
Kraken vs Leafs
Nothing really jumping out at me here. The over is a possibility if the Leafrs offense can bring the heat but they have been erratic so a bit hard to trust and I just don’t have the time to map out individual games right now and compare defensive metrics of their opponents.
Canucks vs Ducks
Nothing here like Ducks you’d think would win but meh. I don’t like the odds.
Knights vs Stars
Nothing here but hopefully Stars take that Blues double and get a little run going.
