Lot of dominant results yesterday, with the Stars, Habs, Blackhawks and Mammoth all getting solid wins.

Sharks/Kings went to OT with Sharks squeaking it out as the Kings home record continues to suck.

It’s Thursday January 8th, and we’ve got a very busy day ahead.

Let’s dive right in:

Hurricanes vs Ducks:

Canes starting to show something with a couple of wins. Pretty heavily favoured against hte Ducks here. Based on the odds, it would have to be Canes -1.5. With how erratic the Canes D/Goaltending is I can’t back it. The over is a possibility but you have to rely on that Ducks offense. Hard to really count on them especially if the Canes are pulling a Stella and getting their groove back.

Rangers vs Sabres:

Nice to see Buffalo bounce back. They are on the road here where they have been for the mass majority of the last month. Slight favourites here – eh, I see it for sure but things are a bit too close for comfort for me with the odds the way they are.

Bruins vs Flames:

This seems a bit more of a 50/50 game than the bookies have it – but I don’t have the balls to bet on the Flames here, even if there might be a little bit of value.

Canadiens vs Panthers:

These two recently played so that’s a bit off-putting. Both are also a bit tough to figure out as well. I’m not really sold on the Habs at the moment to be honest. Think they have been ab it fortunate with their schedule.

By the metrics – it’s quite close. I actually think despite not having a lot of faith in them, if they weren’t on a B2B I’d take the Habs.

Penguins vs Devils:

Devils coming off that massive Islanders loss. Wonder how they will react to that. Honestly the metrics for this ojne are all over the place. I couldn’t tell you anything here other than that might be the slap in the face the Devils need. A crucial game for them.

Flyers vs Leafs:

Both teams coming in off the back of some solid results. The data goes all the way to the Flyers I’d say.

But can we bet against a hot Leafs? Matthews is rolling and that can be dangerous. Woll was solid against the Panthers.

I thiiiiiiiiink there is enough to take Philly here, especially with their solid home record and Leafs really poor road record. But I don’t feel great about it. Just one of those where enough of the datapoints sway me.

Flyers win incl OT/SO if Vladar in net

Red Wings vs Canucks:

Not seeing enough in the data to back a Wings win here with the offensive metrics – especially not in regulation, which is what it would have to be.

Jets vs Oilers:

Data is a bit too erratic to back here plus they recently played. Do expect Oilers to win again though.

Predators vs Islanders:

I can’t touch this game. I have had multiple years of swearing off the Preds, and of course, Fuck The Islanders. By the data – slightest lean on the Preds.

Avalanche vs Senators:

Avs come in on the back of two road losses in Florida. Looking to right the ship against a Sens team on a B2B. Of course, it would have to be a handcap play. Metrics don’t support it. It’s close but the odds are about bang on. Empty net metrics – which could be a factor – Avs are great at scoring against them, but Sens have a pretty decent record with an empty net. If they were a mess there, I might just take Avs -1.5 as I think it’d push it into value territory.

Knights vs Blue Jackets:

Knights favourites here based more on rep than anything else I would say.

It’s a tricky one because CF% and FF% they are better, but Jackets have them pipped in quite a few other categories and SCG is 50/50 split.

It’s a little bit too roll the dice for me, especially with these two having played recently and Knights rolling out winners there, but wouldn’t be surprised if Jackets win.

Kraken vs Wild:

Oooh this is an interesting one. Kraken on a roll at the moment while the Wild have hit a few bumps in the road. Despite that, Kraken are decent dogs at home.

Kraken appear to be in the playoff hunt. They’re looking in a good spot and this is an important game for them. Their defensive metrics are absolutely brutal though so I can’t back them here – they are too reliant on goltending, and Wild have the offensive metrics to make it hurt.
