Good to see the Red Wings get a very important win. That’s the sort of thing I want to see from a team in the playoff race and hopefully they can bring more of that momentum going forward.
We turn our attention to a massive slate on Saturday with 15 games.
Red WIngs will look to continue that momentum as they host the Flyers.
While I usually hate a big slate like this, I do get the feeling a lot of these games are going to be a write-off. So much of it goes beyond just the stats and metrics now, and focuses more on form and momentum and just how badly a team actually cares.
Makes it a bit crappy on nights like last night with only two games, but makes it easier on days like today that’s for sure.
Islanders vs Panthers
Big game for the Islanders obviously which would really help their playoff chances. Problem is they come in hard to back I mean they just lost earlier this week to the freaking BLACKHAWKS.
Panthers have been nothing special and a couple of bad road results.
I’ll be straight up – the metrics don’t go for this play at all. This is a pure gut play on me. I’d like to THINK that Blackhawks result has woken them up a bit, and Florida have looked apathetic quite a bit on the road plus the injuries.
I don’t have super confidence in them, but one I’d be kicking myself tomorrow if I didn’t take it. Can’t ignore the gut. Islanders in Regulation. Love the Islanders?

Lightning vs Senators
Boy I hope Ottawa win this one. They have been great in the playoff race. This is a tough one. I’d love to back them here – and I do think there is a little bit of value on them – but not one I can personally back.
Oilers vs Ducks
Erratic with a capital freaking E. No thanks.
Penguins vs Stars
This is a real tough one. The Pens are tough to back right now based on form. Two massive home losses too. Conceding goals like crazy. Now facing another top team.
But man – the Stars just don’t look like they can be bothered right now. And I get it – there’s nothing that really matters for them results wise.
Another one that is more of a gut play. If the Stars find that random motivation, they would be trouble here. Pens goaltending is so freaking concerning as is their defence.
I’m going with it. I think if Crosby is confirmed out they have that weird motivational push that a team gets when a star is out. Another gut play that I am aware could backfire embarassingly with recent results.
Pens incl OT/SO

Hurricanes vs Devils
Pretty meaningless game that could really go either way. With the Devils performing well, and the Canes a bit all over the place lately – really don’t hate a sneaky big ‘dog bet on the Devils. Like the Canes are still getting the job done but making a bit of a meal of it and things not going their way.
By the metrics – it’s an +EV play. It’s a bit too in “gamble” territory for me to advise here but one where I’ll likely throw something on it.
Bruins vs Wild
Bruins not really worth backing at the moment.
Blue Jackets vs Sharks
Sabres vs Kraken
Happy to pass on with the B2B and the Kraken not looking like a team deserving of the playoffs.
Blues vs Leafs
Also an easy pass. Odds are on the money for me.
Avalanche vs Jets
Just played, Avs seem to have their mojo going. Nothing here although it’s interesting how weak the Avs have been at home lately. But even at 3.20 odds I can’t see anything to back Winnipeg.
Predators vs Canadiens
Big game. Too tight for me to call. Metrics do lean the Habs way but then that is negated by being on the road. Although they are solid on the road. So yeah I’d say odds are dead on.
Red Wings vs Flyers
With the Wings having played last night I am happy to pass. Feels like the type of game that could easily go to OT.
Kings vs Mammoth
I would lean the Kings but both recently played and quite tight. Metrics also lean the Kings. Probably not a bad bet in all honesty.
Flames vs Canucks
Who the fuck cares.
Knights vs Capitals
Lotta the data points to the Knights but I don’t have any confidence.
