The Rangers picked up another win this time beating the Panthers 3-1. The Habs beat the Canes 3-1, the Bruins were down 3-0 but came back to win it 4-3 in a shootout. The Habs have a 2 point lead over the Bruins with a game in hand.
Lightning beat the Preds 3-2 and moved back into 1st in the Atlantic and the Flyers beat the Stars 2-1 in overtime.
5 games tonight.
Penguins vs Islanders
This game is a big one. The Isles are in 2nd in the Metro and the Pens 3rd. They are separated by only a single point but the Isles have played one extra game.
The Penguins are still dealing with having Crosby out and Malkin day to day. The Isles have been strong at home going 21-12-2 so with that being said I do like them to have the advantage in this game. But with both teams fighting for these crucial 2 points its tough to call a winner
Flames vs Avalanche
Flames are out of the playoffs so they arent a team I’m tipping. Bad road record too going 10-22-3.
The Avalanche are still in 1st place overall and have a 7 point lead over the next closest team the Stars.
The Avs are such heavy favourites that we would need to take them -2.5 so it’s a pass for me.
Canucks vs Knights
Canucks have been eliminated and are in last place overall. They are 17 points behind the Hawks.
The Knights are in 3rd in the Pacific and have to stay ahead of the Kings who are in 9th and 4 points back. A win here would extend their lead and they need all points they can get moving forward. They have lost 3 games in a row so time to get their shit together.
I would think the Knights win here but the 3 game skid and they have only 1 win in their last 7 has me not backing them. They just fired coach Bruce Cassidy and replaced him with John Tortorella. Just too many things going on with them right now.
Leafs vs Ducks
This game has more meaning than in just the standings. The last time they played was when Gudas hit Matthews knee on knee which took Matthews out for the rest of the season. And the lack of teamates sticking up for their captain has been a huge issue for the Leafs.
Gudas is hurt but says he wants to play but will have to be cleared to do so. On paper the Ducks should win this game but with the drama heading into this one after the last game I have no idea who wins.
Blues vs Sharks
The Blues still have a shot at making the playoffs. They are in 13th but only 4 points back of the Predators. They have to win to try and close the gap. They are on a 4 game win streak.
The Sharks are in 12th and are in the same boat as the Blues. They have the same number of points as them but have okayed one fewer game.
With both teams still having a shot this should be a good game. It also makes trying to predict the outcome tough. The odds are a coin toss which doesn’t help at all.
