The Carolina Hurricanes vs Philadelphia Flyers series started yesterday, and it wasn’t a good one for Philly fans.

The Canes rushed out to an early lead, then shut the Flyers out for the rest of the series.

A good start for Carolina.

Today we’ve got a crucial Game 7 in Tampa, and the beginning of the Avs vs Wild series.

Let’s get to it:

Lightning vs Canadiens Game 7 Betting Tips:

Scott: Well it was the worst outcome for the Habs in the last game. They had a chance to wrap it up at home but now it’s a game 7 in Tampa Bay.

I had picked the Canadiens to win the series but I’m not so sure now. The chance they just had is gone. With the series now in Tampa I would lean towards them winning it. But it would have to be in regulation and with 4 of the 6 games in this series needing overtime I can’t take that. Nothing here and hopefully the Canadiens win which was my original tip.

Graeme: That last game was very, very evenly matched throughout. I unfortunately backed the over in that one. An early goal might have opened it up alas that did not happen.

This one for me just comes down to math. I don’t think anyone can argue that, no matter on location, this is a proper 50/50 series. So I might as well back the underdog. I mean you could argue that Tampa have home ice in a critical game which is big – but then does that add extra pressure?

I’m good to take the plus odds. Habs to win incl OT which is about 2.35. No actual feeling for it other than just it feels an +EV play based on what we have learned from the 6 games thus far.

For the record – Tampa are certainly the better team across the board in advanced metrics.

Avalanche vs Wild Series Betting Tips:

Scott: The Avalanche swept the Kings in the 1st round. The first 2 games were close 1 goal games with game 2 needing overtime but the Avalanche won games 3 and 4 by multiple goals.

They got there thanks to some of their many weapons. Landeskog and MacKinnon lead the way and the also got help from Lehkonen, Roy and Kadri. Still waiting for Necas. Nelson and Nichushkin to get going. Makar and Toews held up the defensive end and Wedgewood was strong posting a 1.21 GAA and a .950 save percentage.

The Wild had a tough first round matchup with the Stars and they required a couple overtime games to get here.

Quinn Hughes got his first goals of this postseason in their last game and if he catches fire than they could go a long way with his gameplay. Boldy and Kaprizov had great first rounds and led the team in scoring and Zuccarello amd Eriksson-Ek did their part. They are still waiting on Hartman and Tarasenko to get going. Faber joined Hughes in helping out from the backend and Wallstedt had decent numbers with a 2.05 GAA and a .924 save percentage.

I like the Wild and could see them doing some damage in these playoffs. But they are taking on the Presidents Trophy winning Avalanche. I want the Wild to win and depending on how the first games go I may change my opinion here but I’m taking the Avalanche to win in 6 games.

Graeme: Both Scott and I correctly called this series, predicting the Wild and Avs to go through so that was nice, especially with the Avs taking it in 5 as we backed.

I’ll be honest – I wasn’t super impressed with the Avs in the playoffs. I didn’t feel great about them during the regular season either. There is just something about them I am not sold on this season. Of course that could be something I am saying all the way to them winning the cup.

But I am not even bothering with the advanced metrics this time around. I’m going to go with Wild +1.5 for the series. I think this is a bigger test for the Avs, and the Wild can push them.

Of the 6 previous matches between Lightning-Habs 4 have gone to OT and the stats have been close. This smells of OT also with non of Them wanting to trail so it Will be nervy.
Reg bet on A DRAW.

Colorado-Wild. I hope the Wild Will make it through. Love to see Kaprizov Go far in these playoffs. Think they have a sting to Them that Can carry Them all the Way this year and a depth which they havent had the previous years!
Wild to Shake up things in game one!
Wild in reg, -1 also.
And O 5,5 goals.
