Well it was a big effort by the Flyers yesterday against the Carolina Hurricanes, but they couldn’t hold onto their lead and go back to Philly after a tough OT loss.
The Knights got off to a solid start with a 3-1 victory over the Anaheim Ducks.
We’ve got just the one game today, as the Wild and Avs square off.
The last game was an absolutely insane one, with the Avs running out 9-6 winners.
Avs vs Wild Game 2 Betting Tips:
Scott: Game 1 was insane. There was 15 goals to open up the series and this was the 10th playoff game in history with at least 15 goals and just the second time this has happened since 1994.
The Avs blew a 3 goal lead but managed to hang in and pick up the win. With these teams scoring 5 goals per period I expect kind of the same thing here. They had no issues scoring in the last game so I’m going with that.
Over 6.5
Graeme: Despite that crazy ass game, the offensive advanced metrics weren’t off the charts.
Makes you wonder for this game. Obviously the over is the one everyone is going to be shooting towards. And a game like that really knocks you for six – it’s hard to look at this one rationally if that makes sense.
I’m going to go with a player prop instead. I think overall I could see the Avs keeping the goalscoring going and I’m going to go with Sam Malinski at least 1 point at 2.80 odds. I see Avs goals and think he contributes enough to make this a play.

Most teams show a rollercoaster pattern in goal/point results game after game, so I’m expecting fewer goals as each team realizes what happens when it’s a track meet; Colorado wins, probably puckline. Minnesota will be working on more defense and shutting down top Avs forwards. That probably means fewer Avs names on the points sheet, but I’m still expecting the Avs offense to dominate control. This game has “series pattern” all over it, and both teams know it. Colorado will want this over in no more than 5 games, and losing at home is not on their menu.
Minnesota is still missing Eriksson Ek and Brodin, which were mentioned as serious deficiencies in Game 1.
I have a parlay from yesterday with the Over 5.0 and I’ll ride with that. I can’t see 15 goals again (only one powerplay goal in Game 1!), but at least 6? Both teams play fast. Breakouts frequent. More chess today instead of the Kentucky Derby, but mostly Derby still. This game will help guide bets for further games in this series.
Necas: Over 0.5 Assists, at X1.95 looks good.
Worth the risk? > Makar anytime goal: X4.20
Colorado moneyline: X1.50
