One offense continued to crush yesterday in the Wild/Avs series, as the Avs ran out 5-2 winners.

The Wild just couldn’t keep up, and it was quality over quantity with Gustavsson just having 22 shots on goal to save.

We’ve got two games today as the Sabres vs Canadiens series kicks off, and Game 2 of the Ducks vs Knights series begins.

Here are our thoughts:

Canadiens vs Sabres Series Betting Tips:

Scott: It took them 7 games but the Habs beat one of the top teams in the Eastern Conference the Lightning.

They got through the first round and didnt have a point per game player. They were led by Suzuki, Caufield, Texier and Bolduc. Got some depth from Anderson, who did much more than just show up on scoresheet, Slafkovsky who had an opening game hat trick and Dach. Hutson and Guhle led from the back end and Dobson returned for game 7 after missing games 1-6. Dobes was solid and posted a 2.03 GAA and a .923 save percentage.

The Sabres have been a surprise team all season. They just beat the Bruins in 6 games in a tough test.

Tuch, Thompson and Krebs all had at least a point per game. Benson, Doan and Quinn provided the team with some scoring depth. On defense, which I think is probably one of the best in the league, they had Byram. Dahlin and Power all close to a point per game. In goal Luukkonen started the first 2 games until he was pulled and Lyon started the rest. He put up good numbers across the 5 games he played, 4 of which he started, with a 1.14 GAA and a .955 save percentage.

With the Habs getting Dobson back and still waiting on Demidov and Evans to find their game they are in a decent spot here. The Sabres have been incredible and I think this is going to be a great series. Both teams have been surprises so I do find it tough to predict. I think with Montreal being the last Canadian team in the playoffs that they have become Canadas team this postseason and fans will travel them to help cheer them on.

Graeme: I was going to say that I can’t pick between the teams, and so I’d just take the underdog. Alas, odds are exactly 1.90 each – a coinflip.

Looking at the metrics for each team – Sabres better metrics in the playoffs by a decent amount. Regular season is a bit tighter overall. Really close actually.

Thinking about it more – I think throughout the season, I’ve always looked at Buffalo as a playoff team. And that was cemented more in that series with the Bruins where I was proper impressed with them.

I’m going to take Sabres win the series.

Knights vs Ducks Game 2 Betting Tips:

Scott: Ducks vs Knights game 2

Game 1 was a close game. The empty net goal makes it look like it was worse than it was. The game was tied 1-1 late in the 3rd.

The Ducks outshot the Knights 34-22 but Hart was solid all night. After game 1, I’m not as confident in the Knights until they give me a reason. I still will back them here as I think that now that they have gotten familiar with each other their experience should help them pick up the home win

I was hoping we’d get an over 6 or even an over 5.5 after that first game – alas the bookies are aware. I do believe in this Ducks offense and think we see a much better effort tonight. Their xG was still solid in that one. Carter Hart did show the Hart of old in that Ducks game and that ise a concern – when that dude runs hot, he can be very hard to beat. So a definite concern but I will roll with Over 6.5 goals incl OT and hope he doesn’t have the momentum going.
