4 games yesterday and we won the tip.

Had the Leafs to win in regulation against the Penguins and they did but it wasn’t easy.  It took the Leafs scoring 4 unanswered in the 3rd to have a huge comeback win 4-3.

The Canucks beat the Blues 5-4 in OT, the Kraken beat the Hawks 3-1 and the Blues beat the Oilers 3-2.

10 games scheduled for tonight.

Hurricanes vs Rangers

The Canes are 7-4 and have lost 3 of their last 5 games.  One of their wins in this stretch needed a shootout so it wasn’t an easy one.

The Rangers are 6-5-2 and have won their last 3 games in a row.  Two of their wins came in overtime so also wasn’t easy wins.

Canes are 4-3-0 on the road and the Rangers are still winless at Madison Square Garden going 0-4-1.  Both records don’t give much hope.

Flyers vs Canadiens

The Flyers are on a 2 game losing skid and are 6-5-1 on the season.  On the road they have gone 0-2-1.

The Habs are playing great.  They are on a 3 game win streak, in 1st in the Atlantic and have gone 4-1-0 at home.  They are ranked 2nd in GPG.

The Habs have better numbers in CF, SF/60, XGF and HDGF.  But their advantage isn’t enough for me to make it a tip.

Bruins vs Islanders

The Bruins have win 3 in a row and have gotten themselves back to .500 on the season.

The Isles are also on a win streak with theirs being 2 games.  They are 5
6-5-1 this season.

With both teams at basically .500 it makes it easy for me to pass here.

Mammoth vs Sabres

The Mammoth had their 7 game win streak snapped and have lost two games in a row since.  They are 8-4-0 this season and 4-3-0 on the road.

The Sabres have gone 5-4-3 this season and 5-2-1 at home.

I was leaning towards the Mammoth but the numbers arent in their favor enough for me.

Oilers vs Stars

These teams have had similar seasons so far.

The Oilers are 6-4-3 and 2-4-1 on the road.  The Stars are 6-3-3 and have gone 3-2-1at home.

Predators vs Wild

Both teams have bad records so far.  Preds are 3-6-1 in last 10 and the Wild are 2-5-3.  Easy pass here.

Lightning vs Avalanche

The Lightning have turned things around.  They started off the season going 1-4-2 but have sense won their next 5 games.  On the road they have gone 3-1-2.

The Avalanche are 7-1-5 and in 1st place in the Central.

Statistically speaking the Avalanche have a big advantage here.  They are ranked 5th in GPG, 1st in SOG, 4th in both GAPG and SOGA and at home have gone 3-0-2.  They are better in Corsi, Fenwick and Shots for and against.  Its the Lightning and their win streak that has me put off of this game.

Wings vs Knights

The Wings are 9-4-0 this season, 4-1 over last 5, 4-3-0 on the road and in 2nd in the Atlantic.

The Knights are in 2nd in the Pacific, 6-2-3 overall, 2-2-1 in their last 5 and have gone 3-1-1 at home.

For GPG the Knight are 7th and the Wings 14th.  For GAPG the Knights are 9th and the Wings 20th.  The Knights are ranked better in both SOG and SOGA.

The Wings have a slight advantage in CF, the Knights slightly better on SF.  Actually looking across the data and these teams are very close with less than 1 separating these teams.

Panthers vs Ducks

The Panthers haven’t gotten off to the best start and find themselves in 6th place in the Atlantic.  They have gone 6-5-1 and are 1-4-0 on the road.  The missing players is really hurting them.

The Ducks are 7-3-1 and in 2nd place in the Pacific.  They have had a crazy turnaround and I wonder how long they can keep it up. At home they have gone 3-1-0.

Ducks better CF, Panthers better CA, Ducks better SF, Panthers better SA, Ducks GF and Panthers better GA.

No idea with this one.

Jets vs Kings

The played once already with the Jets winning 3-2.

The Jets have gone 9-3-0 and 8-2-0 in last 10.  They bring a 3 game win streak into this game.  They are a perfect 4-0-0 on the road.

The Kings are 5-4-4 and 4-2-4 in last 10. They haven’t won at home yet going 0-3-2.  They have had 7 of their 13 games go to extra time. Never a fan of touching games that involve a team with those numbers.

The Corsi, Fenwick and Shots for and against go back and forth here so I have to pass.

Full game OVER 6.0: Utah/Buffalo

Lots of games and props I’m not touching today, as either the team(s) or the matchup looks murky. I like Utah’s winning run. They had 4 days off then lost to Tampa (who are running hot right now, and didn’t take the lead until middle of the 3rd period), and after losing a last road game to the Oilers, which was on one day’s rest after a back-to-back. Tomorrow they have a back-to-back, and after 2 days off, another back-to-back also on the road. Strategically, Buffalo and Ottawa look like the necessary wins and we’ll see how they do against Toronto and Montreal. Buffalo is playing competitive, lots of games going to overtime.
