The New York Rangers home misery continued last night, as they got thumped by the Minnesota Wild 3-1.
The Kraken lost to the Flyers 5-2. Habs continued a successful start with a 4-2 win over the Sabres. The Jets continued to thump misery on the Flames.
The Canes/Knights game was a bit of a let-down, with it going under and the Canes electric offense having the night off. It was a quite weak showing by them.
And of course – THE TORONTO BLUE JAYS ARE IN THE WORLD SERIES. Incredible.
Let’s look at Tuesdays slate:
Senators vs Oilers:
Neither team really one I am interested in backing right now. Stats are quite erratic.I’d maybe give Oilers the edge due to xG metrics but not seeing enough of a play here at the odds.
Leafs vs Devils:
Definitely an intriguing one with some nice performances from the Devils.
CF% and FF% the same, GF% just in Devils favour but Leafs xGF% better. Basically a decent example of where some more data will be helpful. Nothing I am seeing.
Capitals vs Kraken:
Capitals going up against the Kraken who just played last night and got thumped. I’d like to be on the Capitals here, but the odds mean I’d just about have to take the handicap. If they had a better GF/60 I think I would, but the Kraken have solid xGA/60 and GA/60 which is enough to put me off, despite the B2B.
Islanders vs Sharks:
Islanders are another hefty favourite here. They have strung a couple of wins together and have had some high scoring games. Sharks come in struggling somewhat.
The Islanders defensive metrics put me off a bet on them, but the Sharks being shutout and just one goal against the Canes puts me off the over 6.5.
Penguins vs Canucks:
Pens with a slight edge in CF% & FF% & SF%. Scoring slightly less but conceding less, better xGF% stats.
I kinda lean the Penguins here, and this is one of those where I’ve been looking for that final thing to put me over but I can’t. So slight value on the Pens I’d say but just not enough for me to fully back.
Bruins vs Panthers:
Eh I mean even thought it’s the Bruins, with their current performances I have no interest in taking the Panthers on the road here until their offense joins them on the road trip.
Predators vs Ducks:
Both teams quite inconsistent at the moment in terms of performances. By the metrics, the Ducks aren’t a bad bet but the odds seem dead on.
Stars vs Blue Jackets:
Stars come in on the back of a couple of losses. Jackets mixed to open the season. Jackets have some really interesting advanced metric stats with how high their CF/60 is at the moment, but how much higher CA/60 is.
Anyway yeah there is nothing here I am seeing.
Blues vs Kings:
Slight lean on the Blues for sure but the bookies seem to have a good number on them. Not a fan at the odds.
Mammoth vs Avs:
Mammoth strung three wins together, albeit over the Bruins, Sharks and Flames. These two did just play on the 9th which is a bit of a tight turnaround. Avs got the tight win there at home.
By the metrics, Avs marginally better in CF & FF, scoring more and conceding a lot less, better xG stats by a decent amount.
But the Mammoth have the confidence at home this year which helps. A play here would be a bit of a risk at the odds.
So unfortunately, no plays. It is what it is. It’s a long season!
Odds are terrible and seems bookies are on alot of it. I kind of like the Over5.5 for EDM/OTT game …. Ullmarks/OTT GA numbers suck and Skinner, well… he’s Skinner. I dont know? LOL i just like getting one in somtimes
I’m glad I’m not the only one. I hate not having tips but the odds were a big turnoff today, and I’ve felt that a couple of times over the last few days. They really do seem on point at the moment.
100%. Really is better not to tip or bet just to do it. Im 1/4 unit on that game tonight and wont lose sleep. Bookies will come around eventually when no one is betting hockey…. Maybe?? Lol
No bets today. I don”t see angles worth playing. Some of these teams need time to wake up to the fact the season has started.
