Only 2 games yesterday.

Crosby became the 9th player in NHL history to reach 1,700 career points when the Penguins beat the Blues 6-3.

The Bruins scored first but the Sens responded with 7 unanswered goals and won the game 7-2.

6 hours and 39 minutes.  Thats how long the Jays game was last night.  The Jays lost but what a battle that was.

For tonight we have 16 games so every team is in action.

Penguins vs Flyers

Battle of Pennsylvania games are usually fun and a good one to watch.

The Pens played yesterday against the Blues.

The Flyers have basically alternated wins and losses up to this point.

I’m more comfortable avoiding this game.

Flames vs Leafs

The Flames won their last game snapping their losing streak at 8 games.

The Leaf won their last game snapping their streak at 3 games.

I haven’t liked how either team has looked up to this point so it’s almost impossible to try and predict a winner.

Knights vs Hurricanes

On paper this looks like it should be a great game.  They just played each other about a week ago.

The Knights are 5-1-3 so far and 2-1-2 on the road.  The Canes are 6-2-0 and have gone 2-0 at home.

Both teams are dealing with some injuries to key players.  The Knights are without Stone, Hill and Hanifin.  The Canes are missing Miller, Kochetkov, Gostisbehere and others.

Jackets vs Sabres

Jackets are 4-4-0, the Sabres are 4-4-1.  On the road the Jackets have gone 3-1-0 and in Buffalo the Sabres are 4-2-0.

These two teams are tied for 16th in GPG and are both allowing over 3.00 per game.  They are just to similar for me.

Ducks vs Panthers

The Ducks have some big wins beating the Lightning and the Hurricanes and it seems like they have taking a big step in the rebuild.

The Panthers are near the bottom of the league in GPG averaging 2.50 and have a GAPG of 2.8.

Islanders vs Bruins

There isnt anything I like from this game so it’s an easy pass.

Lightning vs Predators

The Lightning seem to be turning things around as they have won their last 2 games but are 3-4-2 this season. They are 1-1-2 on the road.

As usual, the Preds are at about .500 this season going 4-4-2.  In Nashville they have gone 3-2-1

Jets vs Wild

The Jets lost their last game but already have a 5 game win streak this season.

The Wild havent had the results that they expected.  They are on a 3 game losing skid and have had 3 games go to extra time already.

On the road the Jets have gone 3-0 and at home the Wild are 1-2-1

Jets win incl OT/SO

Wings vs Blues

The Blues played yesterday against the Penguins.

These teams just played on Saturday.  Im passing here.

Capitals vs Stars

The Caps are in 4th in the Metro going 6-3-0, the Stars are in 4th in the Central going 5-3-1.

Thompson and Oettinger have been playing great for their respective teams which makes this an even trickier game to predict.

Senators vs Blackhawks

With the way the Hawks have been playing they are a tough match going 4-1-1 in the last 6.

The Sens are are 4-4-1 in last 10 and have won their last 2 games.  They played last night and scored 7 times.

Devils vs Avalanche

Devils are on a strong streak right now winning 8 games in a row.

The Avalanche are heading in the opposite direction losing their last 4 games straight.

They just played each other on Sunday so I’m passing.

Mammoth vs Oilers

The Mammoth have been playing amazing.  They are 8-2-0 this season, 1st in the Central and on a 7 game win streak.

The Oilers havent gotten off to a great start.  They are on a 2 game losing skid and are 4-4-2 this season.

With the way the Mammoth are playing and with them also being the underdogs I think its worth a play.  Again the odds are helping make my decision here.

Mammoth win incl OT/SO

Rangers vs Canucks

The Rangers are on a 3 game losing skid losing to the Sharks, Wild and Flames.

The Canucks are 5-5-0 this season so a perfect .500 on the season.

I would lean towards the Canucks here but they have a bunch of injuries they are dealing with that has me off of them.

Canadiens vs Kraken

The Canadiens have had a good start to the season going 7-3-0.  The Kraken have won their last 2 games beating the Oilers and the Jets.

The Habs are 4-2-0 on the road so far and the Kraken are a perfect 3-0 in Seattle.

Both have been playing well and also have good results based on their home and away records which makes this a little tricky to predict.

Kings vs Sharks

The Kings beat the Hawks in their last game. Before that they had 4 games go to extra time.  Of the 10 games they have played this season 6 have gone past regulation.

The Sharks have 2 wins this season and both came in overtime in the last week.

With both teams needing so much extra time I can’t tell who’s going to win here.

I have little time to look at the NHL today, but with first impressions being some close matchups, I may look at some “Tie in Regulation” bets. Wary of betting with so many teams still looking out of tune.

Matt Aubrey

I find Tuesdays/Thursdays overwhelming and too many games and too much data to go through, I usually give up while analyzing or get distracted by work/kids:life and then just come here for some insight… LOL

Graeme

Agreed the NHL scheduling is just nuts. I always prefer a six-pack of games I find that number is perfect. Not just from a betting perspective but from a viewing perspective too – means people can catch a good few games, pick and choose who they watch etc.
