We hope everyone had a great Christmas or whatever it is that you celebrate.

The World Juniors got underway yesterday.  I hope your team had a good start.  There is 4 games taking place today.

For today in the NHL there is 10 games scheduled. We could only agree on 2 tips. With the break we were concerned it would throw some teams off.  There were some games where it seemed like an easy tip but then with the extra rest would it throw them off?  Either way here are the tips

Capitals vs Islanders Betting Tips:

Both teams picked up a win in their last game before the break.

The Capitals always have a chance at putting up goals.   They have won 7 of their last 9 games.

The Islanders seemed to have found their offense heading into the break scoring 9 goals in the last 2 games.

With the extra time off I think it will help these teams and I expect this to be a high scoring game so we are going withOver 5 incl OT/SO.   The odds are just below the 1.70 we try to stay with but it’s so close that we decided to go with it.

Bruins vs Blue Jackets Betting Tips:

This should be a great game.  The Bruins seem to be able to handle the Jackets this year which few teams can say.  This is the 3rd and final game between these teams with the Bruins winning the first 2.

The Jackets come into this game on a 12 game win streak.  You would think that the momentum would carry them to a win but Boston comes alive when playing Columbus.

Tough game to call a winner for but I like there to be goals.

Over 5 incl OT/SO is the pick for this game.

  • Smoking Barrel

What about Predators going Over5? Seems a good choice

    • Wild win

      • SanDiegoBruins

Suppan out, Wild one of the best goal diff in the league and playing with confidence.

  • bigAl

    Red Wings
    Rangers win in regulation
    Blackhawks – Jets Over 5 + OT/SO

  • Johnny Hockey

    First thoughts (to discuss):

    > Rangers
    > Hawks & OVER 5.0
    > Isles/Caps OVER 5.0
    > CBJ/Bruins OVER 5.0
    > Preds/Wild OVER 5.0

    • Mojo

I really like Hawks to bounce back from that awful showing against Colorado. And I also really like your CBJ BOS Over

Other picks I like tonight a lot are Stars, Flames and possibly Sharks.

      What you think?

    • Mojo

And with Letang, Daley out and Fleury in net. Over 5.5 in Pens/Devils feels like a very smart play as well

  • SanDiegoBruins

S&G, I like the picks but the odds are already -150 and -135 respectively for these games. Do you see value anywhere else on today’s slate?

    • Mojo

      SDBruins I like these picks.

      Pens/Devils Over 5.5
      Bruins/Jackets Over 5

      What do you think?

      • Mojo

        No thoughts San Diego?

      • SanDiegoBruins

Pens/Devils Over 5.5 – odds are pretty good +110 on my site. Both goalies have high GAA. In meetings this season, totals are 5 and 7. Pens have highest GPG but Devils are near last. I like Pens puckline or in reg better than over 5.5

Bruins/Jackets Over 5 – probably but the odds aren’t great.

Hawks – I don’t bet on BH any more, they often lose games they should win. I mean, the Avs beat them? Jets are 8-5 vs division which isn’t something to ignore.

Stars – Stars are a terrible road team 4-13 and have been alternating Ws and Ls, they are due for a L. Yotes are terrible too, but they can pull out a W against a weak team. This could be close. I like the under

Flames – I like the Flames in reg and maybe puckline. Flames can put up 3+ goals and Avs have really struggled to score.

Sharks – I think they are the better team but a well rested Ducks team at home can be formidable. Close game, maybe an OT

        • Mojo

Its a Stars team though that is healthier and has been playing better as of late. Plus they know they have to string wins together and games like this are must wins.

You don’t fear the Pens will be flat on the road like they have been so often in blowout losses this year?

          I agree with Flames

Chicago has burned me many times too, I just think coming off one of those horrible losses they will make sure they don’t repeat that kind of performance and will hammer the Jets

          • SanDiegoBruins

I don’t know the Stars line-up that well beyond the superstars, but they are showing quite a few injuries. In the past 12 games or so they haven’t had b2b wins. Do they have the cojones to beat a bad team? We’ll see, but the Yotes are in a similar situation.

For a great team the Pens road record of 7-9 is pathetic. They could certainly come out flat, but their record is 8-4 vs division so I like them here.

You could be right re: BH. They are 9-2 revenging a home loss versus opponent and 8-4 revenging a loss versus opponent. Goaltenders are going to make a difference in this one: Hellebuyck is 2-0-0 with a 0.50 GAA, .981 SV% and one shutout in two starts vs. the Blackhawks this season. Crawford is 7-1-3 with a 1.89 GAA and .940 SV% this season at home.

hawks burn me too all last year on DK

          • sh0t0kan

they did it again those darn Hawk do what they do best BURN!!1

    • Stats Guru

Sorry to be blunt SDB but… You should consider your need for greed. Take the wins if you like two options and build your bankroll. If both win you get a 140.74 return on two 100 investments. Get one win and the maximum loss is 33.33 if the -135 crashes. Better yet, bet the ONE you like the most. Example, my NHL 2016-17 investments, are a mix of ML, ATS and Totals = 100 invested each game. One bet per night and max four bets per week. I don’t like the first few NHL weeks so I jumped in on 29/10/16. My record is 18-7 (+869.19) Being greedy and changing ML to ATS makes the totals 11-14 (+84.88). Happy Festivus Everyone!

      • Pucking Hockey

here he goes again with the greed statement. No successful hockey capper makes money backing those odds over a long period of time. It lasts for a few months, but you will, if you have not already, get burned

Words from a wiseman “cant we cant we all just gettalong”

  • magus1349

Bruins ( 12 wins in a row is to much for NHL), Avalanche ( time to interrupt 8 loses serie at home ), Predators and Ducks.

    • SanDiegoBruins

As a Bs fan, I have no confidence that they’ll win against the NHL’s hottest team in their own building. The Pens got blown out by CBJ and they are a lot more talented than the Bs, with the exception of Rask, who has been up and down. It could be close, but CBJ’s offense it really clicking right now and I wouldn’t be surprised if this became one sided really quickly. I’d go for CBJ 1st per and CBJ in reg.

  • bigAl

The Stars and Sharks games have great odds, at least at bet365, but very risky.
Both are going to be close wins, probably in OT.

    • Mojo

Sharks game might be close but they are the better team and I’d ride with them to pull it out. The Stars game shouldn’t be close.

  • slyNHL

Hello everybody! Gratz with all holidays.
    My thoughts on today:
    Isles – Caps – Over5
    Jackets Bruins – X2

    Preds Wild – Wild ML
    Hawks Jets – Hawks reg
    Arizona Stars – Stars ML
    Colo Calgary – Avs ML
    Ducks Sharks – Over5

    • bigAl

        What does X2 mean?

          • slyNHL

Draw or Away in reg* ))
