Ended the night going 1-2

We had the Capitals to beat the Islanders but it was the Isles coming away with the 4-3 win in OT. The injured Bruins managed to beat the Red Wings 5-2.

Our win came when the Blues covered the spread and snapped their losing streak and beat the Avalanche 3-0. With the shutout, Blues goalie Marty Brodeur now has 125 career shutouts.

The Devils got their first win under their new coach when they beat the Penguins 3-1, Bobby Ryan scored a hat trick for the Sens in their 5-2 win over the Sabres, the Stars snapped the Rangers winning streak with their 3-2 victory and after being down 3-0 the Blackhawks stormed back to beat the Preds 5-4 in a shootout.

For today we have 4 games on in what is the 2nd last day of 2014

BetNHL.ca December Contest:

Our December contest is coming to a close, and a look at the leaderboard has it nice and tight.

We’re going to have a tiebreaker – but just how many people in the tiebreaker we are unsure as of yet. Didrik M. and Jacob J. have the top two scores at 22-8. However there are 4 people behind them at 21-8who with wins can tie it up. Also Patrik H. is at 17-8 and with 5 picks left, could also be in there.

The tiebreaker will take place on January 6th. 10 games that night, and people will have to make the picks for who wins. Person who gets the most right wins the tiebreaker and so on – and if it’s a tie then we’ll do it again on the 8th!

BetNHL.ca Daily Trivia:

Answers from yesterday: Derek Sanderson was in the GQ list in 2011 as one of the 25 coolest athletes. They said they based their list on “who played the game like it was an expression of who they were…guys we never got tired of watching”, and said they picked Sanderson partly due to his ladies man reputation. And really, considering he said his pre-match meal was a “steak and a blonde” – the dude really deserved to be on that list. Also the NHL player that was a 4th gen, first Tennessee player and Hobey Baker award winner was Blake Geoffrion. He would end up retiring sadly after a really bad injury when his head hit Jean-Phillippe Cote’s skate, and he suffered a depressed skull fracture.

Todays Questions:

During his NHL career, Ilya Kovalchuk would wear the #17 in honour of what: Soviet superstar Valeri Karlamov, The Russian Revolution of 1917, the founding of the NHL in 1917 or soviet sniper Alexander Yakushev?

When was the first female player inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame? 1998, 2002, 2006, 2010.

Ok here are the tips

Blues vs Predators Betting Tips

Well now that the Blues are back in the win column after their convincing 3-0 payback to the Avs, you have to think that this will be a momentum boost for them.

They are taking on a Preds team who fell apart last night after being up 3-0.

First we are going to go with the Blues to Win for 2.20. We are also going to go with Over 5 for 1.77. Place both of these bets at Bovada for Americans and http://www.Bet365.com for everyone else.

Kings vs Oilers Betting Tips

Both teams are struggling at the moment but one is more than the other.

The Oilers are in yet another long losing streak having lost 9 in a row. The Kings have looked ok at best going 4-4-2 in their last 10.

Kings have been junk on the road so their 1.47 odds for a win are not worth the risk. The Oilers are the Oilers.

The Oilers can score sometimes but always face the risk of getting pounded. The Kings want to turn things around and end the year on a positive note.

I think the best bet to make on this game is Over 5 for 1.71 at Bovada for Americans and http://www.Bet365.com for everyone else.

Trivia:
Kovalchuk wears #17 as a tribute to Valeri Kharlamov. For those who never heard of Kharlamov, I recommend watching this awesome movie: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nDrTlPK–fU though it’s Russian so you will have to find subtitles.

If I recall correctly, they created a female section of HHOF in 2010. Pretty late but then again female hockey is not developed enough, there are perhaps 2 professional teams – Canada and USA, a bunch of semi-pro teams and a bunch of random amateur teams where nearly any girl with slight interest in hockey could make the roster.

Jacob Jaramillo

Hey guys, im pumped to be tied for 1st place. Im going to Cuba on the 5th of January for a week so hopefully it doesnt go past the January 6th tiebraker. Either way from what I understand there is wifi at the lobby so ill be able to connect to make Jan 8th picks if need be, but with little time for reasearch…

Hope everyone is having a great holidays season, and enjoying both the NHL and World Juniors actions. Surprised not to see any tips on any of those games. Canada’s puckline payouts have been nice recently.

GO LEAFS GO!

BetNHL.ca

Yeah we just weren’t up for the juniors this year. There has been nice odds but with struggling a bit on the NHL we wanted tull focus on that.

And thanks for letting us know – if there’s an additional tiebreaker we’ll wait until after you return for that.
