Sorry about the delay today. 3 of our picks are in regulation bets and the sportsbooks were dragging their asses at getting the lines up.

It was a 1-1 night last night with the NHL Tips.

It really should have been a 2-0 night – especially after that last 5 minutes in the Blackhawks/Jackets game. Bobrovsky stepped up BIG to thwart the Blackhawks during a 6 on 4 power play right at the death. The post helped him out once as well. Crazy that one didn’t go over.

We won with the Islanders in regulation bet. That one was a bit nerve wracking but thankfully the Islanders held on.

And while Wayne Gretzky said “You miss 100% of the shots you don’t take” – we’re glad we didn’t take the shot yesterday with the Predators. Like we said yesterday – EVERYONE seemed to be on the Preds. Within an hour of the line going up they went from underdogs to favourites. We wanted to join them but we just couldn’t justify it. We looked at it from every angle and just couldn’t convince ourselves it was a good bet. Thankfully we were right as the Red Wings got a big win.

We move onto Saturday with the usual big slate of games. We’re making some riskier bets today and hoping for a good pay day.

Blue Jackets vs Stars Betting Tips:

Blue Jackets are coming in on a high after that victory over the Blackhawks but we don’t think it will stay that way for long. The end of that game would have been very draining for them. Stars meanwhile will be coming in fired up after that loss against the Kings.

Stars are without Sharp and possibly Eaves but Hemskey is back. Jackets shouldn’t win as many faceoffs as they did last night and if Stars control the puck better they should be able to take this one. Stars in Regulation.

Leafs vs Blackhawks Betting Tips:

Much like when the Blackhawks lost to the Predators and came bouncing back with a high scoring win on their last back to back, we’re expecting the same tonight. They’ll be motivated here against a Leafs team who love to score just as much as they love to concede.

We’re going to take Over 5.5 Goals in this game. The lines actually going up instead of down – opened at 1.90 and moved up which is a bit concerning but we’re not seeing anything to put us off it.

Blues vs Flames Betting Tips:

When you look at all the pre-season analysis of the season, you could apply everything said about the Canucks to the Calgary Flames. They’ve been extremely disappointing to start the season.

They’ve actually had quite a few closes games and we could see them pikcing up a few wins soon. However we like the Blues to take this game seriously after the losses to the Canucks and Oilers. The Canucks are an enigma this season and the Blues were unlucky against the Oilers. We’re taking them to get a dominant win here. Blues in Regulation.

Wild vs Devils Betting Tips:

That Devils offense continues to stutter and struggle and they’re going up against a Minnesota Wild team who are scoring a fair amount this season, and have won 3 on the trot.

The Wild are no strangers to conceding goals but they manage to employ the simple strategy – score more – and it’s helping them out. We like what Boudreau is doing with the Wild this season and Eric Staal is looking awesome as well. We’re taking Wild in Regulation to heap on the Devils early struggles.

Mathematical/Experimental Betting Systems:

(All below systems are based mainly on mathematics and statistics with very little human input and are deemed experimental. Previous Records: 1st Period System 30-36 (+15.99u), OHL 28-15 (+17.15u)

WHL Betting Tips(3-0, +2.75u): Red Deer Rebels to win at 1.80 odds and Kamloops Blazers to win at 1.77 odds.

Bet the WHL at:

Americans: Bovada.

For the people asking about the 1st period system I’m still harvesting data and guaging results. Once I’m happy with how it’s performing they’ll be up again – probably in a week or two.

S&G, agreed re: last night — awful. Agree with all of today’s tips.

Time to turn things around today, starting with Habs/Bs game.

I really like the Habs in this game. Price is confirmed and Khudobin is in net for Bs with a 4.02. Montreal has the edge on both sides of the ice and with Tuukka out -120 (opened -110) seems like really good value. Also have a small bet on Habs reg +135.

GOTY alert: Preds had a tough one in Hockeytown last night and that flight home must have been pretty quiet. On top of it all, a bunch of players have food poisoning. Laviolette is quoted as saying, “we have roster issues”. After getting home at 2 AM they are going to face a better, fresher Pens team. Rinne has not been confirmed yet and even if he plays he’ll have heavy legs after getting peppered last night. The back-up Mazanec surrendered five goals on 27 shots to Chicago. Even without Sid and other injuries you have to like the value of the Pens ML or even reg here at -105 ML, reg +150, o2.5 total -113.

Jump on this game guys before the line changes too much.

“We were going down pretty hard last night,” Predators forward James Neal said. “I’ve never seen that many guys get sick.”

Said Predators defenseman P.K. Subban: “I’ve never seen anything like that or anything close to it

A couple lessons we learned (hopefully) tonight.

“Bet The Farm” = Very, very, very bad advice.

Bookies are Scrooges – They rarely hand out gifts.

So….. You lost your farm – now what?

Is Hossa back for tonight ?
