Tampa tied up their series yesterday with the New York Islanders.

It was a hell of a game with the Lightning winning 4-2. Varlamov went off briefly but ended up coming back in. Sorokin while in saved all 6 of the shots presented to him.

Will be interesting seeing if they roll with Sorokin for Game 3.

We turn our attention to Knights vs Canadiens Game 2. Game 1 wasn’t as bad for the Habs as the scoreline made it look; there were a lot of positives to take from Game 1. They looked good in the first period alas a brutal second period cost them.

Here are our thoughts:

Scott: Well if game 1 was any indication of how this series is going to go then the Habs are in trouble.

The crowd was nuts and helped the Knights big time.  This was the Habs first game in the United States since March 7, 2020 and playing in front of a crowd of more than 2500 people.  These things might take some getting used to but they will have to adjust and fast.

With the way game 1 went I do see another Knights win but to get any value it would have to be Knights -1.5.  I’m not comfortable enough in taking that as Montreal will have had some time to adjust their gameplan so I’ll just avoid a tip for this game.

No Bet

Graeme: I actually thought the Habs handled the Vegas crowd well and liked what I saw during the 1st period.

I also noticed some solid adjustments by the Habs. The Knights are tough to play against; they don’t just take shots at random. They’re patient, they work for the best shot. A great example of that was the 2nd goal against the Habs on Monday night.

Our defence still has to step up though. Hopefully Petry can play. Kulak was disappointing I thought.

Advanced metric wise, it was very close xG wise whether it was 5 vs 5 or all, and a 10 differential in favour of the Knights in Corsi/Fenwick.

I think we’ll see a closer game tonight. I would like to bet Canadiens +1.5, unfortunately Knights have scored 4 out of 7 against empty nets in playoffs and the Habs have allowed 2 of 4.

I was hoping to go with a player prop but the ones I looked at on the Knights side were very erratic.

Hate to say it but no bet.
