Atlantic Division Winner Betting Tips

So who is going to win the newly realigned Eastern Conference during the 2013 – 2014 NHL Season. Over at Bovada they have released some cool betting props based on that. Below we will go over each of the divisions and what team is the best bet plus who has a shot but may not be considered a lock.

These predictions are based on a few things. New players, past success and having an 82 game schedule will all go into our predictions

Atlantic Division

The Atlantic Division is going to be an exciting division to watch this year. Not only do they feature all of the eastern conference Canadian teams it also has last years Stanley Cup finalist and powerhouse Boston Bruins but also the Detroit Red Wings who joined the East during the realignment.

Here are the odds for each Atlantic Division team to win the division this year available at Bovada :

  1. Boston Bruins 3.20
  2. Detroit Red Wings 4.50
  3. Montreal Canadiens 5.50
  4. Toronto Maple Leafs 5.50
  5. Ottawa Senators 7.50
  6. Tampa Bay Lightning 8.50
  7. Buffalo Sabres 31.00
  8. Florida Panthers 51.00

Best Bet To Win The Atlantic Division

This was actually tougher to predict then it should of been thanks to the Red Wings coming East. But the Bruins lost an incredibly close Stanley Cup finals to the Blackhawks and made some huge roster moves to address their problems.

Out goes Tyler Seguin, the promising young superstar who was destined to be a third line center for the Bruins for the foreseeable future due to their depth down the middle. But for Seguin the Bruins got back Loui Eriksson who will jump right into the first line right winger job. They also went out and grabbed the ageless wonder Jarome Iginla. Iginla was supposed to sign with the Bruins at last years trade deadline but instead signed with the Pittsburgh Penguins at the last minute and the Penguins were then swept by the Bruins in the Eastern Conference Finals.

With these moves this Boston team is strong at every position and will not only win the Atlantic Division but may also win the Eastern Conference. And with this being a strong division we are getting some great odds at 3.20. This is an amazingly strong and valuable bet to make.

Good Bet At Winning The Atlantic Division

The Detroit Red Wings have been the model for consistency for a very long time. They leave the stronger Western Conference and come to the East and are instantly considered one of the favorites to win not only the Atlantic Division but also the Eastern Conference.

This team may be getting older but as they have shown year after year, they know how to win. Detroit was the only team in last years playoffs to really give the eventual Stanley Cup Champos the Chicago Blackhawks any real challenge. They went out and made the biggest splash during the offseason by acquiring lifelong Ottawa Senator Daniel Alfredsson who will fit in perfectly on this team. They also grabbed another big fish in the free agency pond in center Stephen Weiss who will take some of the burden off of Datsyuk and Zetterberg and is expected to put up some big points this year.

The Atlantic Division will come down to the Bruins and the Wings and with 4.50 betting odds for the Red Wings to win the division this is a good bet to make. I give the Bruins the slight edge due to the style of play, the Red Wings are a little more fragile then the Bruins and with an injury or 2 the Wings may find themselves in trouble.

Long Shot To Win The Atlantic Division

Major players in the offseason, the Toronto Maple Leafs may have finally grabbed the pieces to complete the puzzle and have them challenging for home ice advantage in the playoffs. After they monumental collapse they suffered during the first round of the playoffs last year the Leafs are looking for a second chance.

They went out a grabbed Jonathan Bernier from the Los Angeles Kings and he will immediately challenge James Reimer for the number one goalie job. They also went out
And grabbed 2 players with lots of playoffs experience. The BIG move came with the signing of power forward David Clarkson. Not only does he bring experience he also can score and can drop the mitts with anyone in the league. The Leafs already led the league in hits and fights so he will fit in here perfectly. The other big move they made was signing center David Bolland. While he may not light up the score sheet he does some many other things important to success. He can kill penalty’s, win faceoffs and can get under the skin of the opposing team, just ask the Sedins.

But as always with the Maple Leafs since Mats Sundin left town they need a true number one center. Sure Tyler Bozak may be able to fake it for another year but he IS NOT a number one center and I think that this will be their downfall yet again.

But we are getting good odds for the Leafs to win the Atlantic Division 5.50 and they for sure have a great shot at actually winning it thanks to the Bruins short offseason and the Red Wings having to adjust to the new conference
