For this article, we will be going over the Pacific Division and who we think stands the best shot at winning it.

This is going to be a fun division to watch this year with the continued improvement of the Oilers and the arrival of the Knights.

The Pacific Division consists of 8 teams: Anaheim Ducks, Arizona Coyotes,  Calgary Flames, Edmonton Oilers, Los Angeles Kings, San Jose Sharks, Vancouver Canucks and the brand new Las Vegas Golden Knights.

It was close last year but it was the Ducks coming out in first place at the end of the season 2 points ahead of the Oilers.

Pacific Division Winners Betting Tips

After the year they had last year and the continued improvement of their young stars, my pick to win the Pacific Division are the
Edmonton Oilers

As we saw last year that McDavid is the best player in the league not named Crosby.  He makes everyone around him better and he is only going to get better.  And Draisaitl showed in the playoffs that he is a superstar.

They have a solid defense and Talbot showed us last year that he’s capable of carrying the load as a starter.

Pacific Division Betting Analysis

Anaheim Ducks

They also have a good shot at winning the division but it’s their age that is holding me back from picking them to win the Pacific.

Getzlaf is a great player and team captain and a bounce back year from Corey Perry will go a long way to the teams success.  Eaves was great after the picked him up at the trade deadline but can he repeat that for a full season with the Ducks?

The brought in Ryan Miller to back up Gibson so they’re set in goal and their defense is a strong young group.

Los Angeles Kings

It seems as though their best days are behind them.  They have a few regrettable contracts which have and will hurt them until they come off the books (Dustin Brown).

They have some super talented players with Jeff Carter, Anze Kopitar and Drew Doughty but after that their depth will come into question.

A healthy Quick will help their chances but I think their best days with this squad are behind them.

San Jose Sharks

Another team whos aging stars are going to hurt them.  They still have Joe Thornton as their top line center but they lost Marleau who moved onto the Maple Leafs after playing his entire career in San Jose.

But the Sharks always seem to surprise us.  Pavelski and Couture are in their primes and Brent Burns is a beast and won the Norris Trophy last year.

But just too many questions surrounding this team for me to pick them to win the division.

Calgary Flames

The Flames are a good young team who went and grabbed some help in the off-season.

Travis Hamonic is a good defensemen and with him, Hamilton, Giordano and Brodie the Flames have one of the best top 4 in the league.

They added Eddie Lack and Mike Smith in goal.  Smith has a history of injuries and he’s 35 years old.  Lack has never been a starter caliber goalie in my opinion.

I think they are still a few years and players away from winning the division

Vegas Golden Knights

Seeing them not as the lowest ranked team to win the division is a huge surprise to me.

They are an expansion team so I don’t expect them to win very often this year.  They do have some valuable pieces but I see them moving them at some point this year to better their team in the future.  I’ll be rooting for them to succeed but I can’t see it happening this year.

Vancouver Canucks

As its been for a while now, the Canucks are the Sedin twins team.  But they’re now 37 years old and past their prime.  If Vancouver were to trade the Canucks it would have to be to a team willing to take both players which is going to make a move very difficult.  The added some players but no game changers.

I can see the Canucks fighting to stay out of last place this season ahead of maybe only the Knights

Arizona Coyotes

This is a team that will surprise people this year and will have more success this season than they did last.

The added a new starter in Antti Raanta, a new number one center with Derek Stepan and one of the most under rated players in the league in Niklas Hjalmarsson.

They won’t win the division this year but they have some impressive young players that will make them a force in the future.
