Hi everyone,

No tips yesterday which was for the best as the couple of potential underdog plays I liked didn’t pan out.

We went 2-0 on Saturday on an excellent night.

The Predators got absolutely crushed by the Blues in an amazing 2nd period where St. Louis scored 7 freaking goals. Insane.

Sabres got another big win over the Flyers which was impressive. And glad the Jackets one didn’t appeal to me. They were competitive but lost 6-4 to the Ducks.

Let’s look at todays games:

Blackhawks vs Flames:

If I were to make a play here it would be on the Flames but it would have to be -1.5 and I’ve said I won’t usually back that on the road. Their last couple of road games against the Kraken, Sharks and Ducks they covered that. Buuuut the Sharks & Ducks ones were empty netters and the price isn’t there to risk the gamble on that.

Blackhawks aren’t great with an empty net so if it’s a 1 goal game with a couple of minutes left, keep an eye on the odds for live betting Flames -1.5. There may be enough value there to risk it. I’d probably put it at 2.25 or above to bet it.

Avalanche vs Capitals:

The Avs come in on a tear, having just beat the Hurricanes 7-4. The Capitals come in off a nice 8-4 win over the Habs.

Goals seem on tap for these two. They last played October 19th and the Capitals win 6-3 there.

Avs have a lot of guys playing hot and the Capitals look motivated. Ovi is aiming for a 50 goal season.

The odds are a tad low, but I think there is enough to back this one. Two motivated teams and I thought the Avs / Canes game may be a defensive one but it wasn’t at all – so have to expect a similar type game here.

Over 6.5 goals incl OT/SO

Coyotes vs Hurricanes:

Freddie out for this one. Canes are a team I normally love but a lot of concerns on them at this point of the season. -2.5 seems ludicrous. Less so of course when you look at their opponents results. No bet on this one.

Knights vs Devils:

Still not sure how to feel about these Knights right now. If you were to back them it would have to be -1.5. Not the worst as when they win in regulation, they have covered that 7 times in a row. Devils are pretty bleh.

Knights are still chasing the playoffs. Showing a lot of fight for the most part and will look to bounce back strong after that Oilers loss.

Empty net stats Devils are actually pretty solid playing with an empty net. Like the 8th best in the NHL.

But I like to look at it this way; if the Knights are a playoff team then they win games like this. Convincingly. No backdoor shootout BS. Devils are horrible on the road.

If they’re a playoff team then they win here with no last minute sweat, so I’ll back Knights -1.5. If they’re not a playoff team then we learn that here.

Kraken vs Senators:

I mean at coinflip odds the Senators are probably not the worst bet but uh yeah I have nothing here.

Canucks vs Stars:

Both teams come in playing well. Could be a good game. 50/50 odds the bookies lay seems about right.

To WIN Puckline: Calgary
Third Period Moneyline: Calgary
Lean: Full game OVER 6.0: Caps/Avs (*)

There are some bets the public will be on today I don’t like. Not going for the Canes or Knights or Canucks today. The Canucks should realize they’re out of the playoffs with a loss tonight, it may be harder to catch Vegas or Nashville, and a Dallas win puts them 9 points up on the Canucks, and the season’s over. Dallas is currently 6-2-2, so no pushover. Can’t see betting a Dallas win though. Tie in regulation? Maybe spring for OVER 5.0

Knights haven’t shown the ability to win on demand this season, and I’m not granting them any faith. New Jersey’s last three away games were westward and they won two of them on the Puckline. They probably love warm dry air and a party town.

Flames want all lines scoring, and face Nashville tomorrow. Two points tonight would be very helpful in the playoff positioning race, taking away much pressure, and technically the easiest challenge of all remaining games for the Flames. They need this win as leverage.

asterisk means I don’t bet on any Caps games and can’t see breaking that rule here. It may be a very tight, low-scoring affair, as easy as going to “Over”. Too risky.
