Only the one tip yesterday and it was a good one.  We had the Penguins to win incl OT/SO and they did winning 1-0.  This was a close game which didn’t have any goals until the start of the 3rd period.  But the anxiety of having to watch and hope the Pens could hang on for the win in the remaining 15 minutes of the game was worth the payout.  With the win the Penguins passed the Capitals for 1st place in the East.

The Rangers beat the Sabres 6-3.  Zibanejad scored another hat trick which was his 3rd in his last 22 games.  With them winning and the Bruins losing, the Rangers are now only 4 points behind Boston for 4th in the East Divison.

The Flyers beat the Devils 4-3 in a shootout and the Lightning beat the Jackets by the same score in overtime.

The playoff picture is getting clearer each day.  There is only 3 teams officially eliminated, the Sabres, the Devils and the Blue Jackets, and only 3 who have locked up a spot the Knights, the Avs and the Wild.  But with each day teams are moving closer or further away.

For today we have a busy night with 8 games. And some of the games have huge playoff implications so it should be an interesting night.

Hurricanes vs Stars

These teams have played each other 6 times this season and the Canes are 5-1-0 against the Stars.

The Hurricanes are 15-7-2 on the road this season, including two wins in Dallas.

Both teams have been playing great in the month of April with the Stars going 7-1-2 over their last 10 and the Canes 6-1-3.

With a win the Hurricanes would clinch a playoff spot.  The Stars are 2 points behind the Preds who are in 4th in the Central Divison.

This is a huge game for both teams but with the Canes beating the Stars in 5 of 6 games so far I have to think that this trend will continue.

Canes win incl OT/SO

Canucks vs Senators

The Canucks have played the fewest games in the league.   They sit in 6th in the North Divison but have played in only 41 games.  They are only 8 points behind Montreal who is in 4th but have 5 games in hand.

Would seem like a game the Canucks should win but the Sens have stayed competitive despite being so far down in the standings.  Leaning Canucks win including OT/SO but not enough confidence in it.

Canadiens vs Flames

Another game with big playoff points in the line.

The Habs are sitting in 4th place with 49 points, the Flames are 5th with 45 points.   For the Flames this is a huge game with a  chance for them to beat and gain points on the team in front of them.

The Flames have gone 6-2 agaisnt the Habs this season.  The Habs have lost the last 4 games they have played in Calgary.

With Gallagher and Price still out this seems like a good spot to take the Flames.  I’m worried that the Habs come out flying in this game but the last two they have played in a row against the Flames were losses.

Flames win incl OT/SO

Avalanche vs Blues

They have played each other a bunch recently with the Avs winning 2 of 3.  The Avs should win this game and was leaning towards them but the Blues know they need to win against teams in front of them or the playoff window will close quickly.

No tip

Panthers vs Predators

A huge game for the Preds who hold the 4th playoff spot in the Central but have only a 2 point lead over the Stars.  Would say this should be a Panthers win but with the Preds having their back agaisnt the wall I’m going to avoid this game.

Oilers vs Jets

The Jets are in 2nd in the North with 57 points in 47 games,  the Oilers are 3rd with 56 points in 35 games.

The Oilers have won the last 4 games against the Jets.  The Jets have lost 3 in a row for the first time this season and need to get things back on track and fast.

With the Jets at home and in desperate need of a win they could snap their losing streak in this one but the Oilers have had success against them so I’ll avoid this game.

Ducks vs Kings

Would need to take Kings in regulation to get any value here and I don’t have any confidence in that with them on a 2 game losing skid and winning only 1 of their last 5.

Coyotes vs Sharks

Sharks on a rough skid going 1-8-1 losing their last 8 in a row but the Coyotes haven’t been much better going 3-7 over their last 10.  No confidence in either team so I’m skipping this one.

Western Rattlers

Full game UNDER 6.5: Oilers and Canucks games
To WIN: Colorado moneyline and Coyotes puckline
Reverse Puckline of +1.5: LA Kings
Lean to Win: Calgary moneyline and LA moneyline
Lean full game Over 5.5: Colorado/Blues

Lucky LA Kings: Just noticing LA’s place in the standings and their remaining games. Watch for LA to (maybe) go on a winning run. LA is only 7 points out of it right now, with three crappy and stalled teams ahead of them and can feast on Anaheim now. The two games against Colorado to finish the season will be when the Avs don’t care about the standings just days before the regular season is over, and will be coasting. Two wins quite possible there too! Clear sailing, and that’s a rare thing for any team to ever be presented with!
Tonight is the final Flames/Habs game this season and resolute Flames can send the Habs home with a huge “na na na na, hey hey hey, good bye!”. Flames are peaking just when Habs are not looking strong at anything.
Coyotes will likely win and the Sharks are so pathetic this season, the track record clearly indicates a Puckline loss for the fish.
