Sorry for the lateness of the tips today. I was hoping to get them up yesterday but just ran out of time.

Panthers vs Islanders starts at noon but we’ll have to skip that one. I’d probably go with Islanders although I haven’t looked into it at all.

Hell of a day yesterday. Look at those Jets go – I thought they would bounce back and they were able to do so. That was impressive stuff. Problem is I am pretty good at picking a team to pull out a win after an injury – but I can hever figure out how they follow up from that ha.

Blackhawks vs Oilers was quite the fun one. Hope that series continues like that.

Alright so we have – crap – five more qualifiers today. Plus that Panthers/Islanders game. You know as much as I do enjoy all day hockey it’s a right pain in the arse for doing tips ha.

I’m also feeling pretty exhausted due to a busy day yesterday, crap sleep and busy morning. So not putting as much thought into some of these as per usual. Actually I intended to but I got right into the Jackets vs Leafs game and spent like an hour on that game alone with no real conclusion and it wore me out.

Let’s see what we got:

Coyotes vs Predators Game 2 Tips:

These teams just put up 7 goals and the over/under is set at 5? Okay then. Yeah neither team are offensive juggernauts and the Coyotes in particular excel defensively. But there’s a very good chance of at least a push on this one and I’m happy to take Over 5 Goals.

Blue Jackets vs Leafs Game 2 Tips:

One thing I am trying not to do – especially at this stage – is overthink the betting tips. Like to keep it nice and simple. So the Leafs got shut out by the Jackets. How do they react when they get shut out?

Well unfortunately I really don’t know. They got shut out exactly once in the regular season against the Kings. They had a weak performance against the Ducks the next day on a B2B. Not very helpful.

What about 1 goal games? Well they don’t follow up too well. Lost 6-1 to the Flyers then lost 3-1 to the Avs. Although that was another B2B. Lost 2-1 to the Flames then lost 6-2 to the Blackhawks. Lost 2-1 to the Habs then beat Coyotes 3-2. And that’s about it.

There’s not any real consistency from the previous season either. Sometimes a shutout is followed by a weak offensive performance. Other times it’s good and they win while other times it’s good but they lose like 3-4.

I do think Leafs will be better here. They didn’t take advantage of the empty space the Jackets leave and they have to figure otu how to deal with the Jackets overload defending.

Honestly I really don’t know what to bet here. I think the Jackets are a great price but can’t bring myself to back them. I’ll take Andersen Over 29.5 Saves as thinking about the potential outcomes of this game I think we’ll see a lot of Jackets shots.

Flames vs Jets Game 3 Tips:

Big ask for the Jets who are missing two players on a back to back to muster that same energy.

Flames offense really had an off day I felt with no real great chances. Confidence could have been the bigger factor there and just too complacent. I can’t see if Laine is playing or not but I’ll go with Flames to Win incl OT/SO. They weren’t amazing on the bounce back during the season however you gotta think they will be motivated and fired up to avenge that loss.

Hurricanes vs Rangers Game 3 Tips:

Sadly it looks like the New York Rangers journey is coming to a close. The Hurricanes are just too damn good.

They’re dominating on the ice and in the advanced metrics. Lundqvist looked great in Game 1 but not as good in Game 2. I’ve got to think he will struggle if he plays here.

Honestly I hope I am wrong as I have liked the Rangers this season but I am going with Hurricanes incl OT/SO. You gotta think Canes would like to get that extra little break in.

Wild vs Canucks Game 2 Tips:

Well we were set up nice with my tip of the highest scoring period being the third period with 1 goal in the first two. Alas only the one goal in the third period as well.

I’ll go back to the well on that one. Highest Scoring Period = 3rd Period.
