That….fun? regular bizarro season is now pretty much behind us, and it’s time to look forward to the NHL Playoffs.
If you’re a regular here you know how it works but as a note for all the new people; we both offer our own perspective on tips during the playoffs, with no collaboration. Sometimes we’ll have the same bets, sometimes it’s the polar opposite.
We just found this was the best way to deal with the playoffs as at times it resulted in no bets at all. With so few games – that’s not good.
We’ll also give our series predictions prior to Game 1s, then provide individual Game betting tips following that.

Alright let’s get into it – we’ll cover Bruins vs Capitals today just to get into the swing of things and then tomorrow we’ll cover the three Game 1s taking place on Sunday.
Bruins vs Capitals Series Betting Tips:

These teams played each other 8 times with the Bruins winning the season series 4-2-2.
This is going to be a fun series to watch. It features two of the biggest pains in the ass in the league in Tom Wilson and Brad Marchand. It will be interesting to see Chara taking on his old team in the first round too.
If the Capitals can stay healthy than they should win this series. If the Bruins defense shows up with Chara and Krug playing elsewhere then they could go deep in the postseason. The have the best line in the NHL and adding Hall has given them a huge boost with the added depth.
Tough to call but I like the Bruins to win this series with Hall playing a huge part. Bruins to win the series isn’t at bettable odds, but I think Bruins win in 6.

Graeme: Quick note I am doing purely advanced metrics picks over at Vin & Graeme’s Betting Tips but for writing on here I will be covering in other factors. I just use them to kinda give me a baseline for my picks.
Both sides of course were busy at the trade deadline with big goals for the playoffs. The Capitals have had a few issues with COVID going into this and won’t have Samsonov or Kuznetsov for Game 1.
We haven’t seen Ovi much lately although he says he is 100%. Marchand comes in hot.
By the advanced metrics – I think Capitals have value. Plus hey they finished up tied for 1st on points in the East, 4 ahead of the Bruins. To be such big underdogs is value.
Here’s my overall thoughts – I like the Bruins to win the series. I think the Capitals do deserve to be underdogs. But I think the value is too high to ignore. I’d price the Capitals at about 2.20 myself. maybe 2.30. THe results between the teams were close enough this season.
To me there is just enough value to place a bet on the Caps.
