Only one game went over 5 goals yesterday.  Overall it was a pretty uneventful night.

The Isles beat the Caps 3-1.  Tavares scored his 18th of the year in this one.  Getzlaf returned for the Ducks and they won 3-2.  Like I said earlier, there wasn’t much to talk about from last night.

We got our first real snowfall here today.  Everything is covered so makes for a hectic day if you have anywhere to go.  Of course my kids bus was late.  Santa had better get me some new winter boots this year.

A nice busy night of games for us with 9.

Hurricanes vs Knights  Betting Tips:

The Knights have been amazing this year when they are playing In Las Vegas going 11-2.  Things are looking better for them now with Fleury being activated from the injured reserve after missing 25 games.

The Canes have lost 6 straight road games.

With the Canes struggling on the road and the Knights playing so well at home there is only one way for me to go with this game.

Knights win incl OT/SO

Oilers vs Blue Jackets  Betting Tips:

The Oilers are still without Talbot so Brossoit is expected to get the start.

The Jackets are on a 2 game win streak and have also won 10 of their last 13 games to stay in first place in the Metro.  They have also won the last 3 games against the Oilers and 6 of the last 7.

The Oilers struggles should continue in this game against a team that has owned them recently.

Jackets win in regulation

The overs let me down last night. I took a beating but it could have been worse had it not been for the Mighty Ducks who got a W for their captain on his return. Some solids options today:

LAK ML -120 1u – Not only are the Kings playing their best hockey of the season but they are a great road team. They are 8-0 in last 8 and 10-5 on the road. Devils are basically a .500 team and haven’t done well against teams better than them (5-6). Kings might take a period to get the rust off but I look for them to get their east coast swing started with a W.

TML -110 1u – This sounds familiar. Leafs are playing great hockey and have a terrific away record. They are 4-1 in last 5 and 10-6 on the road. Flyers have put together a mini-win streak of 3 games but look for them to come back to earth tonight against a more talented and faster TML team. Not that it’s a huge factor, but they are 1-5 on Tuesdays.

Oilers/CBJ over -105 1u – O/U is 4-1 in past 5 for Oilers and 3-2 for CBJ. With Talbot still out the Oiler net is a weak spot and Goalie Bob has been pretty mortal lately. These are two fast, dynamic teams and I expect a shootout.

Bolts/Blues over -120 1u – Two of the league’s best teams face off tonight and I expect that there will be a few goals scored. O/U is 4-1 in last 5 for Bolts and Blues have scored 17 goals in last 5. Their D is tight but I don’t see them completely shutting down the Bolts who have scored 23 in their last 5.

LVK regulation ev 1u – Canes are in a real slump right now and I don’t see them pulling out tonight against a team with one of the NHL’s best home records. Canes are 2-8 in last 10 and are at back-end of grueling west coast swing AND on a B2B. Can’t see them having the legs to keep up with a well-rested Knights team who love playing at home (11-2). On top of all that, Fleury is projected to return and the team will be grateful to have their starter back in the net. He might be a bit rusty but he gets a good matchup tonight against a low scoring, exhausted Canes team.

Ducks are going to be on my play card often in their coming games. They’re a team to watch now, needing to catch up and getting back to winning.

I’m with you brother

Kris- -na

No Matthews tonight…
BUT Leafs are 5-0 without Matthews so far this season

Rasmus Hyttel

Im from Europe and have been following this site with some sucess.. so thank you.
Can you explain What over -110 -115 and so on means?

InkedFive0

Over and under is what total points the game will end in. -110 or -115 is what it cost to win $100.. the 10 or 15 is called the juice.

Oliver Trigg

I went almost all in on the Jets in reg last night, and I will say that was probably a very bad idea and don’t suggest following my example; I just had an extremely strong feeling on it and it paid of nicely. As I said sometimes just heavily playing your favourite instead of a wide selection occasionally is a better choice. Other days, its worth playing a variety of picks to avoid putting all your eggs in one basket- so pick your moments. I also played Ducks, but due to my uni workload yesterday didn’t get round to updating it. Seeing Getzlaf and Silferbeg back was more than enough to pull the trigger on a very generous price. The Ducks have managed to stay about 0.500 despite all their injuries, and with such important players back in the roster their a team to watch these next few weeks.

Completely with you @Scott on the tips today. In fact I think the Knights game is probably one of the most badly mispriced games of the seasons so far, and I am all over the Knights. I am less keen on Jackets in reg (simply because reg can be unkind to the wallet) but do suspect they’ll win in reg. I will follow in suit of SDB and from now on place a ‘Pick of the Day’

POTD (90% Confidence) – Knights ML- Please don’t be tempted by reg here, the money line is more than generous enough. Carolina has taken 2 of their last 5 games to overtime and Vegas has taken 3 of their last 4 to OT. Carolina are getting swept away in hurricane of losses and know they need to fight now and that may result in a tightly contested match. That being said, the Knights have fought the full 60mins of almost every game this season, and I don’t see them stopping now. Fleury is almost certainly in net, and with Perron back too this team can deal some serious damage. Even with their injuries the Knights have lost only 2 home games all season, and I don’t see a loss coming now when their almost back to full strength. Carolina comes into this having won just 3 of their last 13 on the road, and beating the best home team in the league is just too much for them right now in my opinion. Carolina will get a win at some point but I’d look for them to get a win at the earliest against Buffalo later this week, but not here not today. How the odds are this good on the best home team in the league against the fledgling canes is beyond me- I’ll happily lighten the bookies bank account though.

(90% Confidence) Kings ML- Again, the odds are good enough on reg so I would avoid being greedy. The Devils come into this game with 2 wins from their last 5, with one of those wins coming against a struggling Avs side and one of those loses coming in the form of a thumping by the awful Coyotes. The Devils have 4 wins in their last 10 games and home, and will struggle mightily against a Kings side who have won 8 games in a row. The Kings are the second best defensive team in the league, with the best PK in the league. Things on the offensive end haven’t been too bad for the kings either, scoring three goals or more in 6 of their last 8 games. This is a battle between a wildly inconsistent Devils side against (who are not the best at home) against an in form and recently very consistent Kings side (who have won 8 of their last 11 on the road)- I know who I would rather take.

Unfortunately, due to time constraints again today I cannot post detail analysis for my other picks but here they are-

Jackets ML/Reg (70%/65%)- The odds aren’t great here, so any value is in reg. I don’t like this pick as much as I normally would, simply because the Oilers have been the best they’ve been all season. That isn’t saying much, but after also seeing the Devils shell the Jackets 4-1 not long back, if the Jackets don’t take this seriously it could end badly. That being said I have made a small ML parlay of jackets with Vegas, and a separate parlay with Kings. Jackets have won the last 5 meetings here against the Oilers and should manage a win.

Sabres ML (65%)- The Sabres have looked much better in their last 2 games narrowly losing to the hawks and blues in OT. Meanwhile the Pens have been shutout 3 times in their last 4 games, and really don’t look even close to an improving side. Sabres have won 4 of the last 5 meetings, and should be feeling fairly confident after sticking it to two sides they were written off to be torn apart by.

Leafs ML/Reg (65%) – The flyers are an improved side lately, and Leafs are without Matthews, however, Matthews has not been that prolific in front of goal lately and with Andersen’s superb form Toronto has more than enough to beat a Flyers side that has still lost its last 6 on home ice.

Avalanche ML (50%)- This is a dog pick, but holds a lot of value so for a small play this could be worth a shot. Avs have been bad on the road, but managed to control the Pens and limit them to only one goal and shelled the Panthers for 7 in the game prior. The Capitals have been a force at home, and probably will win this, but the Avs did beat the Caps 6-2 in Denver and should be feeling in the spirit to kill a giant tonight. — Play with caution.

SanDiegoBruinsD

Again, we mostly agree. What are you getting for Knights ML? My site has it at -160 which is too much chalk for me to pull the trigger. I’m OK with regulation here (1u) because LVK only have one OT game this season and I feel as you do they are the superior team and the circumstances support them.

Oliver Trigg

I got it on the overnight line of -130. Now its sitting at around -162. Either way I still think -162 is pretty good value all things considered. I’m not sure about only one OT game this season – they’ve had 5 this season and 2 in their last 2 games at home? Carolina really needs to fight for this one, and have gone to OT twice in their last 3, so this may be tighter than expected. Remember the Canes v Preds game? Canes should not have managed that but they did….

Dmitry Fedotkin

Not sure about Hurricanes. Even though they are on 6 game road loosing streak and wrapping up their east coast trip they played strong games recently. One goal games. I’ve seen last two and they could have W in both. You can see they are digging our of this slump. Just be aware. If they get their legs early and roll all lines quickly in this one you can see them fighting hard. They can skate with any team on a good day, even with Vegas.

Oliver Trigg

Can they skate with Vegas in Vegas though? I just feel the canes might already be looking ahead to the Sabres game for the win. Its hard to mentally come to a place where you know the home team have only lost twice. Vegas have also had 2 days off whilst this is a back to back spot for the Canes.

SanDiegoBruinsD

This will be Canes 5th road game in 8 days. They have lost previous 4 including two OT games and last night’s tight game vs Ducks. It’s a pretty good bet that they are tired LOL

Senators, Avalanche and Wild with one.

Western RattlersD

To WIN: Columbus, Vegas,
UNDER: St. Louis
Going UNDER with St. Louis because both teams are so rich in talent that they can skate like the wind and shut each other down. They can both score, but are not offensive phenomenons, they are just very good teams and good on defense. Other matchups are confusing or conflicting: no bets. Edmonton is playing their third game in four nights, while Columbus is showing good performance and on two days rest, and two of Columbus’ two recent losses show the schedule and travel working very much against them; I think they did OK. Columbus rested, composed and at home could really take unreliable, one-trick Edmonton to the cleaners tonight, and I hope they get a 9-1 result. Colorado, Florida and Carolina are not only on back-to-back games, they’re playing their third game in four nights and are on the road. Washington is also on a back-to-back. No leans on that game.

Pat

Morning everyone,

TB vs STL: TB ml @1.83

How come nobody is backing on Lightning? I mean Schwartz, Pietrangelo, Bouwmeester, Fabbri (indeed) are out. Simply put, #1 defenseman out and top line forward is out. Nobody is actually and surprinsingly giving any thoughts onto this game. Vasilevski is way on top compared to Allen.

CAR vs LVK: CAR @2.38

I do like Hurricanes visiting LVK, Even if they are on a back to back. Even if they play against a team who is simply dominating at home. CAR is ranks #2 on shots per game, #1 in faceoffs, Carolina Hurricanes also ranks 1st on SOG Allowed per game, Carolina Hurricanes ranks 1st also as the nhl’s team with the less penalties per game. At these odds? 100% value. For those whom are afraid of betting against Golden Knights especially because of a (3-1-0, 2.48, 0.925) rusty Fleury, the over is tempting as usual standar for a LVK game.

Good luck to all
