It was a 1-0 night last night but it was a tight one as expected.

Red Wings put up a solid performance but the Bruins managed to sneak the game away from them.

I took overtime/shootout in the pick and I’m glad I did as we needed that one.

It’s Thursday, December 14th and there’s a ton of games today. I’m a tad hungover so I’ll be a bit short on the write-ups:

Hopefully you did the right thing and backed the Preds last night after I said they’d lose. Tonight I think they’re going to win.

Capitals vs Bruins Betting Tips:

The Capitals have a tremendous record over the Bruins and I like them to add to it as they head to Boston to take on the Bruins.

The Bruins showed a lot of fight against the Red Wings and they’re playing well and going to be up for this game. But the Capitals have a funny way of showing up in situations like this..

Capitals haven’t been too good on the road this season but I like them to pull off the upset win here. It’s a nice price and one I can’t ignore.

Capitals to win incl OT/SO

Sabres vs Flyers Betting Tips:

Despite the Sabres weak offense I like this one to go over.

Sabres are leaky when it comes to goals but after beating the Sens I like them to be out to fight in this one and really look at stringing a couple of wins together. The Flyers are starting to score goals in a nice way – a lot of players scoring and you can see confidence from them.

A lot of this is hoping the Sabres will be up for it and I’m going to back that they will.

Over 5.5 Goals

That’s it for tonight. I’m a bit swamped today so haven’t really been able to go over things as I’d like to. I think the Habs will win tonight but Devils are hard working and I think regulation is a risk.

Scott likes over in Caps/Bruins, over in Avs/Panthers and the Leafs and Penguins.

Agree. Greiss is even scarier than Halak

SanDiegoBruinsD

All I can say is, fuck the Rangers. Now onto today…

Isles ML +155 1u – Isles got spanked last night. As Oliver pointed out their defense sucks as does their goaltending. However, I do see something in the stats that offers an opportunity: After they get stomped they often come back with big games. Here are the stats:
5-1 after a loss by 2 goals or more in their previous game
8-4 after allowing 4 goals or more
It’s a risky bet, but let’s see if this team has some heart.

Isles-CBJ Over +105 1u – Isles are going to be pushing tonight to make up for that awful game last night. As I pointed out above, they often come back from a tough loss with a big game. When this team pushes they take a lot of chances and a fast, skilled team like CBJ will take advantage. I also see some softness in CBJ’s defense. In the last 5 games they are giving up an average of 3.6 goals. with both team soft on defense and motivated by recent losses I see a shootout here. I like the over in the 1st period as well.

Caps-Bs Over +100 1.5u – Tale of the Tape: In the last 10 games the Bs have scored fewer than 3 goals ONCE and the Caps have scored fewer than 3 goals TWICE. I’m confident there will be at least 6 goals scored tonight. Might also be a good place to play OT, both team are playing very well and will be motivated by standings. Good odds on Caps TT and over in 1st as well, in GF 1st per Caps are ranked 3rd and Bs are ranked 12. Of course, both teams are ranked near top in fewest goals allowed in 1st so be careful. I can’t pick the side but of course I hope that @Graeme is wrong

Ducks regulation +130 1u – The Ducks will be playing their 2nd game after getting Getzlaf and Silfverberg back, which is like having two of the best players in the league traded to your team. The added talent and emotional boost is going to carry them for a while and these two players get back their legs. Perry is out which hurts but I see the team still riding their boost, plus Blues are also banged up. There’s some good value here for the visiting dog even though St. Louis has been playing very well lately.

Preds ML +100 2u – I think this is a really good value for the Preds. I have been wary of backing them but they really seem to be a cohesive unit right now. Yes, they are coming off a B2B but it was hardly a tough game for them and they have to be feeling very confident and loose. On the other side Oilers are under pressure and have to be gripping their sticks hard. Preds have owned Oilers and I don’t see that changing tonight. Preds are 9-0 against EDM in last 9 GP. Press are 11-2-2 since Turris trade. I am also taking the over, last 5 games for both teams O/U 8-2.

that’s it for now.

GLTA SDB

Oliver Trigg

Agree with you on Preds- I doubt they’re very tired and probably feeling themselves right now with their lineup looking good. With Preds at plus money I can’t ignore them.

Oliver Trigg

“Can’t believe you’re backing Preds” lol

SanDiegoBruinsD

You made a believer out of me!

Oliver Trigg

Great call on ducks – they’re always a good to team to consider as I dog. I couldn’t pull the trigger because of Perry being out and although they beat the Canes it was close last game. But like I said the Ducks really are a team to bet at the moment!

SanDiegoBruinsD

Thanks brother, night is far from over but looks good so far

Oliver Trigg

4-0 for Preds is far from the worst position to be in going into the 3rd. Tampa is also doing me nicely on my reg bet so far. 3:56 am here but got to see the end of Preds game. Might change my display namer to “Preds Praiser” lol Think I was the only one backing them yesterday. This forum is press shy as hell

Dam so accurate. I wonder why you picked hawks win agasnt jets?. I won my bet with caps but i lost on jets. Jets gave up before the game started how you know?. Jets so fk horrible today did i miss something?.

lion

Winnipeg is not playing good lately. They are not stable at all and do not believe they can make it to playoffs. Why I picked hawks because they are playing better last 3 games and I believed today and next 2 games they ll keep their strike.

Smoking Barrel

Hi guys. Any thoughts about Avalanche-Panthers going O5,5?

SanDiegoBruinsD

Yup

Mojo

I like the Under. Usually when two teams play a high scoring game the next game around is much lower scoring. Add that to the fact that the Panthers are an Under team on the road.

Adrian Žé Rosipal

Thoughts on Flyers to win?

SanDiegoBruinsD

Sabres are pesky

Adrian Žé Rosipal

EDM/NASH over 5,5, Bolts money line in my opinion

Adrian Žé Rosipal

However the odds on bolts ML are terrible, but if you make it double, it works

Oliver Trigg

I would rather bet one team to win in reg than a parlay. It gives you enough extra value without adding excessive risk.

Triple3Kill

Yea, will take bolts for sure, but I really dislike betting Over/under 😀

Oliver Trigg

I agree with Adrian. Preds I think are again a very nice pick for tonight on the ML- as they’re playing great at being offered at a plus price.

Philadelphia Flyers
San Antonio Rampage

So my Jedi powers regarding the Preds turned out nicely, and although I had plays on Rangers and Bruins already I ended up playing the Preds on reg with a large stake, along with a small stake bet on Stars. Rangers took me for a bit, but Preds won dominantly as I thought they would and it paid out. I can’t stress the importance of trying to get ahead of the market in certain circumstances regarding line-ups. The Preds had three major players back last night, and as was the case with the Ducks a few days back seeing signs of important players returning to the lineup can give you a serious edge. Preds were hiding in plain sight, and I think many of us here forget they’re a winning team simply because we’ve been burned a few times- sometimes it is best to leave your prejudices at the door. I got a solid +130 on the Preds in reg (for other Europeans thats 6/5) and really with the Canucks injuries I couldn’t pass up on it. Anyway enough of that-

Preds ML/Reg (90%/80%) – Wait what? Me backing the Preds on consecutive nights? I took a while to post tips today because I was trying to be sure on this pick in particular, and not just trying to like it more than I should. However, currently the Preds are at a dog price and I think thats flat out ridiculous. Yeah the Preds played last night, but they had 4 nights off prior to that, and are probably fairly pumped up with their 7-1 win and their lineup being healthy. The Oilers have been much better lately, but at the end of the day they still have Brossoit who has had some decent games but he is no Talbot. The Oilers even in their current form are not up there with the Preds who are a superb defensive team. If you look at the Oilers recent wins there is a distinct trend- a lack of wins against quality teams. The Jackets win was impressive, but it was not the first time the Jackets have just shutdown (Devils), and besides that they’ve beaten the Canadiens (who have been awful at times – don’t kid yourself), the Flames (where they almost lost), the Coyotes, A weakened Bruins side and the Red Wings. Now don’t get touchy, all those teams can play quality hockey but have had serious lulls this season. The Preds are not immune to not showing up, but considering you have to go back to 2014 to find a loss to the Oilers, and with the pressure of the Central I’m more than happy to play them as a dog. The Preds are going to be a serious playoff contender again this year, whilst I’d be surprised if the Oilers do much. Let me stress this again- the Oilers can win this and they certainly have the talent but the Preds are the superior team with A PLUS MONEY PRICE. *My senses are tingling*

Caps ML (70%)- Yes another dog pick here. The Caps haven’t been good on the road and the Bruins have been great lately. That being said a lot of that success for the Bruins has come down to Raask being superb in net. Khudobin is in net tonight, and with the heavy plus money on the Caps I’ll risk it. The Caps have still won 9 of their last 12 games and are a side that can beat the best of them. The Caps are kryptonite for the Bruins having won the last 8 contests against them, and 5 of the last 6 in Boston. Just back at the beginning of November the Caps were a road underdog here in Boston and pulled out a 3-2 win. In fact 4 of the last 5 wins the Caps have had in Boston they have been listed at an underdog price. The bookies seem to have a hard on for the Bruins at home, but have been bent over at almost every occasion in respect to the Caps coming to town. I’m not about to challenge trends when I know the Caps have what it takes to win this game- especially after seeing the Bruins struggle against the Wings last night in what should have been a routine win.

Jets ML/Reg (95%/90%) – If you haven’t been backing the Jets at home this season you’ve been missing out. They have been nothing short of superb at home, and are up against a Hawks team who have been almost AHL level. The Jets have sustained just 3 losses all season at home, whilst the Hawks have managed just 1 away win in their last 5. Oh but the hawks are on a 3 game winning streak you say? Smoke and mirrors I say. The Hawks beat the bottom feeders of the NHL- Panthers, Coyotes and Sabres and barely managed wins against both the Panthers and Sabres. The Jets know they’re good at home, and know they need to make up for their road losses by being the dominant home force they are. Simply put, the Hawks are not even close to the calibre they need to be to face the Jets here. Just look at the Hawks abysmal power play- it is so painful to watch (especially when you’re betting on them), whilst the Jets are ruthless on the power play. There is plenty of value here, and I see Jets pounding the Hawks.

Tampa Bay Reg (95%) – If you’re going to play this (unless in a parlay) the only real value is in reg. I don’t want to over analyse this – looking at Tampas road form etc. Because quite frankly on any day this Bolts side is in a league of its own and the Coyotes are no match for them right now. The Bolts have scored 22 goals and conceded 9 goals in their last 5 games, and those games were up against some of the most high-powered offensive teams in the league. Arizona have managed 2 goals in their last 3 games and conceded 10… thats eye watering. I really would not be shocked to see a 7-1 score line here in favour of the lightning. I probably would even go as far to call this a 100% pick given the Bolts form. The only risk?- Tampa doesn’t take the Coyotes seriously and don’t show up. I don’t think thats likely.

I have other leans, but the above picks are my favourites. As the evening goes on I often like a few more games after going into greater depth into them, and if I do like any others I will update this post. For now I am looking at Jackets , and may add it as a play just down to the Islanders god awful defensive woes right now.

Lets raid the bookies boys.

Oliver Trigg

****UPDATE***** – Rinne is in net not Saros – this adds so much value to Preds as this represents a goalie mismatch.

SanDiegoBruinsD

where did you see this? I looked at twitter and couldn’t find it

Oliver Trigg

Seeing it on flash score on the lineups tab- they seem to somehow put the lineups up before they’re officially announced. Thus far I’ve found it to be accurate.

SanDiegoBruinsD

Interesting, I can’t see it posted anywhere else and the Preds beat writer says he expects Saros but it will be called in warm-ups.

Oliver Trigg

Loving this trend- Edmonton has lost 12 of its last 14 games following a victory. Lets hope I haven’t convinced you to join the Preds bandwagon at the wrong time lol

Oliver Trigg

Nvm see Saros on the ice

SanDiegoBruinsD

Preds – Value, value, value. That’s what I look for. And this is another one of those curious lines that makes a team that’s 9-1-2 in its last 12 games the underdog. The Predators dismantled the clearly weaker Canucks last night and have beaten the Oilers nine consecutive times. All three lines are contributing to their success. Edmonton is still an “in and out” type of team that hosts a very tough Preds squad. Take Nashville to win at a generous price.

Oliver Trigg

When on earth do you get Preds at this price? Usually if you’re betting them reg… what makes me nervous is the Oilers potential to blowup offensively, but that being said only 1 win of their current 5-3 streak has been at home, and it took OT…against the Yotes.

SanDiegoBruinsD

I’ve got +100 and +105 Preds ML, I have them +250 PL. I cannot get reg for Preds because my site has them as dog. what price are you getting?

Oliver Trigg

I did play on the overnight line – got +150 on ML and +200 reg last night. Now getting +100 on ML and +170 reg. Seeing +280 on Preds PL.

SanDiegoBruinsD

nice!

Mojo

Screw the Islanders and Rangers, the NHL is so frustrating to bet. The NFL needs to get here again for another week. Watching Halak last night was so damn painful. Thankfully I recovered that Islander Ranger bet plus another $100 with a Celtics ML, Bruins/Wings Under 5.5, Preds reg play.

As for today…

Jets ML- Winnipeg is THE most explosive team in the Western Conference and is great at home. The Blackhawks barely got buy the trio of Buffalo, Arizona, and Florida going to OT in 2/3 of those games and needed late goals to tie both of those up. The Blackhawks have minimal forward depth, Seabrook has slowed down, and the only way for them to stay in this game is if Crawford absolutely stands on his head. Chicago is simply not a quality team. Winnipeg 4 Chicago 2

Bolts Reg- Vasilevskiy is getting the start and the Bolts offense has been on absolute fire. There should be lots of goals in this game as 8 out of the last 10 meetings have gone over the total. That means that a regulation bet on TB should be less risky because the game isn’t likely to be tight. Tampa Bay 5 Arizona 2

Avs/Panthers UNDER 6- Despite the fact the Panthers are a large Over team when in Sunrise they completely flip the script when on the road and play much lower scoring games away from home. These teams also played last Saturday when the total flew way over with a 7-3 Colorado final. Historically games tend to go the opposite way in rematches and Barkov is still not 100%. Not many teams rely on a single player more than Florida relies on Barkov. Outside of the Mackinnon line who the hell is a threat on that Avalanche roster. UNDER ALL DAY

Preds ML- The Predators OWN the Oilers and have been smashing teams on the road as of late. Yes Saros is likely to get the start but don’t forget Brossoit will be on the opposite side well. The Preds at home tend to play down to their competition but on the road I find they are much more consistent in terms of taking it to teams.

NFL- Game goes UNDER 41. First half UNDER 20

Oliver Trigg

With you on Preds, Jets, Bolts but I would be weary of the under on Avs/Panthers- both sides can let in a hell of a lot of goals and neither side struggle to score them against each other. 7-3 the other day is enough proof for me to stay away from that. I did warn you of the Isles defensive issues, and I am not obviously always going to be right and I do make mistakes. That being said, it becomes so easy when you’re losing money to play picks that you really shouldn’t because you are so desperate to claw back money. Emotion can very easily cloud your judgement and make you take chances you shouldn’t. I was going to play quite heavily on a Bruins reg bet yesterday until I saw a few people here tipping Wings, and that made me look over it once more. I wish you the best of luck tonight man, and hope we can all help you to get your account up again.

Mojo

I might not play that Under. If I do it would be small. I do also like Under 6 in Pens/Vegas…should be an intense well played game which leads to the Under..

Good luck everyone!

Big bet on bolts regulation win . Man I truly hope this isn’t an upset lol. Too many recently to count . #prayforme

Oliver Trigg

Personally I’m doing the same, but I feel confident in it. The Coyotes have managed just 2 goals in their last 3 games, whilst the bolts have managed 11…. Bolts have restricted opponents to only 2 goals in three of their last five games…. This is a mismatch.

Dave Goodman

Everything on paper suggests this is a blow out. I’ll ride with your confidence too . GL man!

Oliver Trigg

Its worst v best, I like our chances. It’s also worth noting that Tampa have only gone into OT once on the road this season and 5 times total all season.

Dave Goodman

Yeah just checked that out too , best of luck tonight !

SanDiegoBruinsD

Yeah , so far so good! Lets hope they don’t let up now.

Dave Goodman

Clutch win for sure . Thanks for the support !

Pat

Morning everyone,

Yesterday (1/3) : NYI didn’t show up to play against DAL, BOS had a rough time managing to win against Red Wings just to win in overtime and Smashville strikes big time against injured VAN,

Looking forward onto:

» MTL’s Drouin to get on scoresheet @1.70. He registered four points out of the last five games.

» FLO vs COL O5.5 @1.75 since Reimer (6-7-4, 3.56, 0.894) and Varlamov (9-8-1, 3.19, 0.903) are between the pipes. Also a reminder that FLO Goals allowed per game ranks 30th (3.42) and COL is slightly better (still shitty stats) ranking 26th for 3.30.
3.42 + 3.3 = O5.5? Yep, especially considering FLO’s 3rd leading SOG/game and COL ranking 7th on Shooting %.
***Avs rank very last in FO%, which is alarming…

SanDiegoBruinsD

Isles are continuing where they left off last night. Good thing I played the over on this game.

Oliver Trigg

Islanders have been a fade team for me lately- everything indicates bad slide. Offence has tapered off somewhat whilst their D and goaltending has got even worse.

H20

Anyone else lost bet with Jets?. The firste 6 min of the game and i knew it was lost. Jets not even trying……

Oliver Trigg

Yes, I lost some with Jets. Caps, Jackets have come through and looks like Tampa and Preds will come through so should be fine.

SanDiegoBruinsD

Preds baby!!

Oliver Trigg

SDB “Preds baby!!” 2017 – things no one thought would be said this year

SanDiegoBruinsD

Stopped the bleeding tonight, tomorrow is another day. Glad you had an equally good night.

Dave Goodman

Good night tonight for sure ! Nice job man

Juri Safoshin

Did not bet, but Jets has also been my pick, if they played half of their offensive strength it would have been -1.5 regulation win for them.
