So my tip of the Capitals to win in regulation against the Blue Jackets didn’t come through. The Jackets won 3-0 so they picked up the win and shutout one of the top offenses in the league. I had to go with the Caps there as they had been so successful on the road and I feel like I made the right call but the NHL is tricky to call at the moment.
The Panthers scored 5 times in the 2nd period and beat the Senators 6-1. Acciari scored a hat trick for Florida.
After dropping their previous 2 games, the Predators beat the Rangers 5-2. The Rangers outshot the Preds in each period but Saros was on his game making 39 saves in the win.
David Perron scored a hat trick, the 5th of his career, for the Blues and they beat the Avalanche 5-2.
The final game of the night was the Oilers vs the Stars and Edmonton won 2-1.
The New Jersey Devils traded Taylor Hall to the Coyotes for a couple draft picks and some prospects. This is a huge move with Hall winning the Hart Trophy 2 seasons ago. Hall joins Kessel, Keller and Schmaltz to form a decent offensive group. Will be interesting to see how this pans out for Arizona.
A busy Tuesday with 11 games. Even with all of the games I am still going to skip tips for today and just post a few thoughts. Be sure to chat in the comments and post your picks.
Game Thoughts:
Senators vs Lightning: The Lightning were preseason favorites to win the Cup but haven’t looked anything like that so far this season. This is normally a game where we would gladly take the Bolts at home but I feel better just avoiding it altogether.
Ducks vs Flyers: The Flyers have been a great home team going 10-2-4 but they are dealing with a bunch of injuries at the moment including Oskar Lindblom who was diagnosed with a form of bone cancer. The team may come together and rally around this devastating news but I’m not sure enough to make it a tip.
Coyotes vs Sharks: The Coyotes are in 1st place in the Pacific and just landed Taylor Hall. I think that adding such a weapon like Hall is definitely going to help the Coyotes but it may take some time for him and the team to adjust.
