We had only the one tip yesterday and we won it.

We had the Blackhawks to win in regulation against the Wild and they did 4-1.  Kane scored twice for the Hawks and they were his 298th and 299th career goals which puts him in 5th place in team history ahead of Dennis Hull.

The Panthers were up 2-0 against the Knights but Vegas scored 5 unanswered for the 5-2 win.  The win moved the Knights back into 1st place in the Pacific division.

The Jets shutout the Blues 4-0 and the Flames beat the Canucks 6-1

Just wanted to share this post that Oliver made yesterday in the comments:

Guys 888sport right now are running a 100% profit boost in ice hockey winnings. It is running for the next month and is a perfect opportunity to make some more money. Essentially you have to place 5 separate bets of £10 (or currency equivalent) and the 6th bet you place will be 100% profit boosted. For those of you who stake above £50 a day this is well worth getting an account with them. I’ve placed 5 separate £10 bets on Vegas and will place a larger bet for my 6th bet to get it 100% boosted. Essentially at current odds you’ll get a +200 price win on it ! And considering this is on for the next month if you’re betting ice hockey jump on this.

Pretty sweet deal – sign up at 888 Sports.  They’re good for the best odds a lot of the time too.

Another night with a lower number of games but still some decent ones so let’s get to the tips.

Sharks vs Oilers Betting Tips:

The Sharks are going to be without their leading scorer in this one.  Logan Couture is going to miss this game and possibly more with a possible concussion.

The Oilers are starting a home stretch where they play their next 3 in Edmonton.

Talbot returned in their last game and the Oilers won.  I have a feeling that they will do what the Habs did and rally together with their starter back and go on a run.

With Couture out and Talbot back the Oilers should look like a strong team in this home contest. And I’m going to back them

Oilers win incl OT/SO

Canada: 1.76 Odds at 888 Sports
USA: -135 Odds at BetOnline.
Everyone Else: 1.76 Odds at 888 Sports

(Odds correct as of 2017/12/18 9:59:42 AM EST but are subject to change.)

Blue Jackets vs Bruins Betting Tips:

When these two teams play each other there is no shortage of goals.

The last 4 had goal totals of 7, 7, 7 and 9.  And over the last 10 meetings of these teams there is an average of 6.40 GPG.

Both teams are looking to get back into the win column after taking losses in their previous games so I expect a great game here.

Over 5.5 incl OT/SO

2-0 yesterday. The LVK gave me quite a scare yesterday. They spotted the Cats two goals before they got going but after that it was all Knights. Gallant gave his old team a deserved spanking. As I suspected the Flames got sick of losing and put the metal to the floor big time and left the Nucks in the dust. The night helped to defray what would have been a terrible week for me. On to today…

Slim pickings today hockey fans.

Hard to pick a side in the CBJ-Bs game. Bs are going to be very motivated after losses in two close games to Caps and Rangers. They are a proud team and will be bringing it on both sides of the ice. On the other hand CBJ is a pretty solid bounce back team. Not enough confidence in the Bs and the odds aren’t good enough to take CBJ. I will tail S&G and go with the over which has decent odds.

I really like the Devils over the Ducks who have had some terrible luck with injuries and are half-way through their very cold east coast trip, but the odds just aren’t that great for ML. Devils are supposed to get Hall and Palmieri back so I am taking Devils in reg for 1u.

Kings can’t be happy with the way things are going on this road trip and will see an opportunity to make up some ground in the West vs Flyers tonight. But the Flyers are on a serious heater so you can’t count them out. I’m sitting this one out.

Pens-Avs could be a goal fest but the O/U has not been very consistent lately for either team. I do see one interesting bet though: Avs have been very good in the first period shutting down their opponents while the Pens have been absolutely porous in the first period. If trends continue the Avs will win the first period and the odds aren’t bad. Small bet here for me.

If Couture wasn’t out I probably would have picked Sharks tonight, but he’s one of their key guys and his absence could mess things up.

GLTA SDB

Dmitry Fedotkin

Too risky to go against Penguins right now. They managed to show some decent hockey lately and low scoring ablility in 1st was just a matter of thighding it up defensively to get back on track. Once they are on hot run they can destroy teams and we just saw Chicago doing just the same. They are on a mission plus they’d love their points back from Colorado from a week ago.

SanDiegoBruinsD

Interesting thoughts. I’m not sure I see it the way you do. Pens are 2-4 in last 6, so I don’t see evidence of a hot run just yet. 66 goals have been scored against them on the road, 23 of those in the 1st period (35%). Avs have had 44 goals scored against them at home, only 8 in the 1st period (18%). It is certainly true that Pens are a very competitive team and would like to get revenge for their home loss to Avs, but they aren’t showing any consistency. On the other hand, Avs just gave the best team in the NHL a pretty good game. The Pens might win here, but I like the Avs to come out strong.

Dmitry Fedotkin

Their goals against stats are spoiled by the blowouts and poor record on the toughest b2b in nhl at the season start. hardly reflect the current state of the team. The difference here is even if Avs come out strong they will prevail if Pens do the same. I’m just saying it’s about time in the season Pens will start taking their points to grow in standings. And they won’t play dice games when they need these.

SanDiegoBruinsD

Good points, I’ll take that into consideration. As I have said before the stats only tell part of the story and your points about the human factor are very valid. good luck mate!

Oliver Trigg

I have a feeling about Pens today. Think we will see a fired up Pens side looking for blood.

SanDiegoBruinsD

what are you getting for odds? I like Devils a lot tonight, combining them with Atlanta Falcons -6.5 (NFL) for 2+ odds

Oliver Trigg

-130 ML on Devils.

soothsayer

When you are betting, do you always bet 2+ odds? Or sometimes also lower odds.

SanDiegoBruinsD

I rarely play anything over -130

Mojo

The UNDER is the play in the NFL game tonight. I kill the NFL, also lean Bucs …classic superbowl type game for Tampa at home in primetime after a disappointing season

SanDiegoBruinsD

Thank you mate

SanDiegoBruinsD

Mojo thanks buddy you saved my ass. I did another parlay with NFL under and made some change after losing the ATS parlay. Keep it up bro!

Mojo

Hey thanks buddy! What did you parlay the Under with?

Also do you live out in San Diego? That’s a place I really want to get out too

SanDiegoBruinsD

Devils ML + NFL under
NJ gave me a scare early on but they came through.

I live in San Diego but spent most of my adult life in Boston. SD Is a great place to visit and we have the Ducks AHL team

SanDiegoBruinsD

I ended up playing Kings ML so it turned out to be a good night. 4-0 including parlay. Good start to the week. Hopefully you guys followed the S&G tips, they were 2-0. They are killing it this season

magus1349

Went 4/4 yesterday, ending the night with a nice profit. Let’s continue that tonight:

Blue Jackets – Bruins Over 5,5
Devils ML
Pens ML
Oilers ML

I’m always open for changes, so please leave a comment if you disagree with some of my picks.

Good luck everyone!

Oliver Trigg

With you besides the Over pick- both Bob and Raask have the potential to put up blinders and keep the score low.

istaybricking

I see your point, I’ve changed my picks. Decided to play it ”safe” tonight with a triple.

Pedro Negrão

Oilers ML + New Jersey ML + Pens ML ?

istaybricking

Yup.

Oliver Trigg

You’ve been incredibly lucky thus far on your parlays. I’m more inclined betting singles these days- with the occasional double.

istaybricking

I put a lot of time and effort into my analysis of games (multiple hours). I read different forum picks, expert predictions, computer picks and so on. This isn’t just a case of luck, although luck is needed for everything in life. In the end this is hockey, everything can happen.

istaybricking

And as Henry Avery liked to say it: I’m a man of fortune, and I must seek my fortune..

Oliver Trigg

No I didn’t mean to assume you blindly picked your teams. I meant to say getting all 4 picks in one night is very lucky. Hockey can be so unpredictable and no matter how much you read things can just go upside down.

istaybricking

Oh okay, i think we misunderstood each other, but i completely agree with you. I’ve had many frustrating nights, when everything didn’t go to plan. Let’s hope the luck continues though.

Oliver Trigg

My small play on the Blues to win last night didn’t pan out, as the Jets rediscovered their offensive prowess, but my big plays on LVK and Flames both cashed me in. Got to say, when Panthers went 2-0 inside 5 minutes of the game I was ready to break something- thank god they turned it around. Its something pretty indicative of this Knights team, they just never give up and keep playing to the final whistle. On to today-

POTD – Pens Reg (90%) – I didn’t bet the Pens versus the Coyotes because I said the Penguins form recently was distinctly underwhelming. Today, I think they’re worth the shot. The Avs put up a good fight against Tampa a day back, but I doubt their ability to do so again tonight. Key defenseman Erik Johnson is suspended, and that’s not going to help an already unstable Avs defence. Additionally, the Pens lost to the Avs on their home ice 2-1 in their last meeting a week ago and will be out for revenger here. Yes its true the Avs have generally been good on home ice, but right now they’re 2-5 in their last 7, with wins coming against a limping Panthers and a Jets side that struggles on the road. The Pens have not been great, going 2-3 in their last 5 and 3-2 in their last 5 on the road. That being said the Pens have won 5 of the last 6 meetings in Colorado and add in that the Avs are only 15-45 in their last 60 games on one days rest. The Pens lost to the Avs with Jarry in net, but should have greater success with Murray taking the crease tonight having only allowed one goal in his only start against the Avs (and that goal being a power play goal). Call this a revenge play, as I trust the potential of this side to come into this game and hunt for revenge.

Oilers ML (90%) – I cannot believe I just typed that and at that confidence but I did. I’ve watched the Oiler’s recent games, and they do look a lot better. They don’t have fantastic stats in winning back to back games, but San Jose are without Couture here who alone has bagged more goals this season than the entire second line the Sharks have tonight. Missing such a key player is bound to hurt the Sharks. The Oiler despite losing their last game at home, absolutely pounded the Preds goalie, and losing to the Preds is nothing to be ashamed of. Despite losing 4-0, the Oilers could have easily have won that game. The offence is awake for the Oilers, and Talbot is back and that has to start translating to a greater winning % for the Oilers if they’re going to have any chance of making the playoffs. Edmonton’s home form is underwhelming, but having Brossoit in net and winning games was not going to be easy. The Sharks away form in their last 5 considering they’ve had no really injuries has also be underwhelming and their loss to a battered and bruised Canucks illustrates enough to me that the Oilers can win this. This pick came extremely close to being my pick of the day, and I’m still tossing up whether to change it, so definitely consider taking this over Pens.

Kings ML/Reg (75%/70%)- This is a serious value play, and a bet that the Flyers winning streak has to end at some time. The Kings come into this game having lost their last 3 on the road and should be motivated not to end this trip on a bad note. The Kings are 5-1 in their last 6 in Philly, and 5-0 in their last 5 games playing on one days rest. The Kings showed serious heart not to give up against the Islanders and should be pissed after losing that game in OT. Don’t be swayed too much by the Flyers winning streak here- look deeper and its not all that impressive. Who have they beaten? 1) Dallas who have generally been weak on the road. 2) The Sabres- no explanation needed 3) A Toronto side going through a dip with no Matthews 4) The Canucks – the most injured and bruised side in the NHL who aren’t wonderful at home 5) The Oilers – who so often take the night off especially so at home 6) The Flames – who have also struggled with consistency. These are not world beater teams, and this LA side prior to their 3 losses had won their last 8- they’re a team who can roll with the best. Simply put I personally feel the Flyers have to drop the ball somewhere, and I wouldn’t be shocked if it came here.

Bruins ML (75%) – This pick is based on consistency. The Jackets have struggled with it lately, whilst the Bruins (despite losing their last 2 at home) have not. In my opinion the Bruins last two losses were forgivable, dropping the games to teams who can beat the best of them, and even then I watched them go down fighting. The Bruins are still 9-4 in their last 13 at home, and if the Jackets can lose to the Canes and get hammered by the Oilers I’m more inclined to trust the Bruins here. The Bruins like the Kings in my previous pick will be wanting out of the losing zone, and the Bruins have the added motivation that they lost in overtime to the Jackets at the end of October. The Jackets were 3-0 up before the Bruins fought back, tied the game and lost in a shootout. All the Jackets last 3 wins failed to impress me – allowing 4 goals from the Islanders and squandering a 3 goal lead at one point, only managing one goal against the Coyotes, and going down super early against the Devils before fighting back. The Jackets just look like a see-saw team right now, and the Bruins just look better in my eyes.

Leans- Devils – they have key players back, but the Ducks have shown they can bring the fight despite their injuries. Ducks have also had success in New Jersey so I don’t want to risk it

Oliver Trigg

Additional note- I may like Bruins and Kings, but I probably will bet these small if at all. I might just play small on kings. I feel its one of those days to concentrate my bank roll on what feels right rather than a wide range of plays.

istaybricking

Felt the exact same way, when the Knights went down two haha. Though I’m with you with Pens and Oilers for sure, a bit with Kings, but i’m definitely not touching the Blue Jackets – Bruins game, it can go either way in my opinion. The Devils playing with confidence and two days rest, coming off a 5-2 win at home over the Stars, while the Ducks only playing of one day rest, and blowing an 2-0 lead, to lose 3-2 in overtime over the Capitals. I got the Devils tonight.

Oliver Trigg

I’ll follow you small on Devils.

SanDiegoBruinsD

Plus the Devils are getting Palmieri and Hall back. That’s huge!

SanDiegoBruinsD

Like you I was about ready to throw things when the Cats jumped out in front last night. I don’t know if I mentioned it here or not, but I think I commented that the Jets should not be counted out. I guess they made a point!

You may be right about Pens but until they show me a few games where they are playing up to their talent I can’t back them, especially at these odds. Avs are definitely handicapped by loss of Johnson, but they showed a lot of fight vs the Bolts. I like the over better here, but we’ll see.

I agree with you on Oilers though I can’t say I have the same level of confidence that you do. At the end of the day, they just don’t have a great deal of depth and I’m not convinced that they can sustain any offence when McDavid isn’t producing.

I like your pick of the Bs, well, for obvious reasons. I don’t love the odds but I think the over has a real chance here. 5.5 seems very attainable with two fast, skilled teams. I really like the way the Bs have been playing, even while losing to Rangers and Caps. This is a team with a lot of heart and they’ll be up for this game. Look at them to dominate in the first period.

I think the Kings get it done today and I have a small bet on that, but Flyers have a great streak on the line so you can’t count them out.

My POTD is Devils. They get Palmieri and Hall back today which is like a huge trade for superstar talent. With the addition of those snipers and the Ducks are missing Perry so they’ll be struggling for offence.

GL mate

Oliver Trigg

Thanks for the comment. I’ll place a little bit more on Devils now out of your respect for them. I see what you’re saying about Pens and I’ve avoided them because odds on them haven’t been what they should be. However, that being said par the Avs game v the Panthers in Florida and their game versus the Lightning they’ve barely managed to get score. In fact in 6 of their last 8 at home they’ve managed just two goals a game. My faith in the Pens here is based of the fact that they know the game with the Coyotes was far too close, and they know they need to get into gear if they want to stand any chance in the playoffs. You may well be very right, and I’ll admit that this is very much a gut pick, but I’m happy to go with my gut now and then. Oilers may well also choose to not turn up, but they too need to wake up to make it to the playoffs and in every game I’ve watched them recently they’ve put up a fight- Talbot surely has to help them to start notching the wins.

SanDiegoBruinsD

Good points! I’ll be watching all the games tonight closely. Despite a short board there are some interesting matchups for sure. good luck mate!

Oliver Trigg

Good luck to you too! Hopefully it will be another winning night.

Kris- -na

Pens just cant score lately… They have good oppurtunities but for some reason they cant score.
Magical puck line cover in the last game

I was on Pens in their previous game so I will skip tonight. I dont like anything toniht – no palys for me 😉

Oliver Trigg

Jesus Christ this devils game has been a Vegas- Panters rerun.

SanDiegoBruinsD

PHEW!!!

Oliver Trigg

You were right on Pens man, I shouldn’t have trust my gut on this. Versus the Coyotes I was stating every reason why the Pens suck this season, and ignored it today against a better team. I will freely admit that was a mistake. Still got Bruins, Oilers, Devils (convinced by you) and Kings though so 4-1 night. Thank you again for challenging me on that pick, it stopped me from staking more on it and I’m sure swayed a few other people. I think I was looking through rose coloured glasses on this one. I went methodically with my other picks and for some reason didn’t with the Pens Fml.

SanDiegoBruinsD

Great night for you! Same here. I think it’s good to challenge one another. It’s the point of doing this, makes everyone better.

Pedro Couto

Pens or Oilers to do big bet?

Oliver Trigg

Its a toss up even despite me placing Pens Reg – With your money I would be more comfortable betting Oilers ML.

SanDiegoBruinsD

Devils, but the game will be started by the time you read this. 🙂

Oliver Trigg

…. 1-0 Ducks so far…. this is what scared me about this game, the ducks ability to get it down even with their issues.

SanDiegoBruinsD

I’m not worried, there’s another 45 mins to go

Oliver Trigg

even at 2-0 off of 4 shots?

SanDiegoBruinsD

I told you I wasn’t worried (like hell I wasn’t!)

Oliver Trigg

2-0 Ducks… off of 4 shots…Jesus

SanDiegoBruinsD

that’s not good

Juri Safoshin

Devils in regulation.
Like Bruins, Pens and Leafs.

Iceman

Good Day ?

Christian Gee
