An 0-1 night yesterday in very disappointing fashion. The Oilers got absolutely creamed by the LA Kings.

Really feels like they have messed with the lines so much on that team that they have just completely lost their chemistry. They looked absolutely lost out there.

My friend took his 5 year old to her first Oilers game yesterday. Nice of him to introduce her to life as an Oilers fan so early in life.

The Blackhawks got the win. I did feel there was value there but that ended up being a tight one. Jets got that random step up win that they often do. Jackets showed a lot of fire in their B2B, and Flyers just look completely lost right now.

6 games today. Let’s get at it:

Flyers vs Avalanche:

With the injuries on both sides, I’m fine with skipping this game. I will be monitoring the injury reports though and if the Avs have some players back, then they may be a play in regulation. Just have to wait and see.

Capitals vs Ducks:

Capitals very heavy favourites here. These two teams played earlier in the season, with the Ducks winning 3-2 in OT. They’re on the road here though and they have struggled on the road all season long so can’t back them here.

However they are a feisty team and with the Capitals lot of close results lately and some losses in there – don’t have the confidence to back them either.

The over certainly has potential. But with the Ducks looking like Henrique is out as well as Getzlaf – can’t back that.

Devils vs Senators:

Devils strong favourites here. They come in off the back of three losses and would like to bounce back after that 8-4 loss to the Jets. They’re okay this season at home.

Sens coming in on a two game win streak and it’s wins over the messed up Hurricanes, and the depleted Avs.

Concerning how many shots the Devils seem to be letting on net in games. They’re a top 10 worst team in the defensive metrics, although only 10th on SA/60 in 5 vs 5. If we go by home metrics though – it’s a lot better with the SA/60 only having them at 17th.

I wish the odds were slightly better and I’d take the Devils. Their home form certainly suggests they are a good bet. But looking back at that Sens vs Avs game and the big performance from Tkachuk – that’s the type of thing a team really builds on.

Stars vs Coyotes:

Dallas on a run and are fiendishly good at home – especially defensively. Have to like them over the Coyotes here.

Odds wise, can’t take in regulation so would have to be -1.5. In their last 7 home games, Stars have covered that in every single one except the most recent against the Jackets.

Coyotes playing with an empty net have a 50% failure rate. Stars have a 50% success rate scoring against an empty net (and conceded twice).

Feels like an okay spot to bet the handicap.

Stars -1.5

Kraken vs Penguins:

Soon as I saw this one on the card, my thoughts were “insta no bet”. Pens you just can’t trust. Kraken – I mean they are getting the results right now. Big wins over the Canes, Caps, Panthers, Oilers. Freaking impressive.

Slight underdogs here – do they add Penguins to the list?

As an underdog, they are certainly tempting. Grubauer is stepping up for them at the moment.

I expect Jarry will be in net and I can’t quite back against him. But we’ll do conditional:

Kraken to win incl OT/SO if Jarry is NOT in net

Canucks vs Kings:

Nice little price on the Kings but on a B2B, with the Canucks ringing in the changes up top – happy to skip this one.

Kings aren’t a bad play or anything – I think they are probably +EV at 2.10 and above – but not something I feel confident in backing.

Cadri and Makar play, but Justus Annunen in net. Do you think Over is a good option here?
