It was a good night of hockey action as the Blackhawks go 8 losses in a row.

Yet again they pepper the net with shots but come out on the losing side. Absolutely brutal. That was one where the Hawks actually looked the better side too.

The Wilds home form didn’t matter as the Capitals came to town and thrashed them 5-2. The Battle of New York was a dud as the Rangers lose yet another road game.

The highlight of the night was Phaneuf debuting for the Kings AND scoring which was cool to see. Quite a few salty Sens fans after that one ha. Must be gutted at that trade.

Quiet night tonight with just 4 games on the board.

Time got a bit away from me today so let’s make these quick:

Jets vs Avs Betting Tips:

Jets have been a team you can rely on in regulation this season. Not so much lately of course – they’re going the way of teams like the Stars when it comes to their home record. They’ve also lost that bounce back mentality.

But they’re the better team here and I’d like to think will log a win tonight at home. Avs are stumbling and their road performances have been quite weak lately. They can make a game of it but we like the Jets overall here.

Jets In Regulation

Unit/Confidence Betting Tips:

Jets in reg – 1u.
Flyers incl OT/SO – 0.5u. They haven’t won here since 2005 I believe but we think the odds are just right for it with the Flyers performances lately and with them being on the road. Lets hope they break that hoodoo.

(We are experimenting with adding unit/confidence to our betting tips. For more details see this post.)

OHL / WHL / AHL / KHL Betting Tips:

(All below systems are based mainly on mathematics and statistics with very little human input and are deemed experimental. )

WHL Betting Tips (25-21, +2.09u): Swift Current Broncos in reg at 1.70. 0.5u on Tri City Americans incl OT/SO at 1.62.

OHL, WHL & AHL & KHL Betting:

Canadians: Bodog and 888 Sports.
Americans: Bovada.
Everyone Else: 888 Sports.

Pretty good day for hockey yesterday, and I must saying an amusing one at that. I played Coyotes -1.5 and that came in. How bad can the Habs get? The Sabres almost gave me a sweep, but gave up a goal late, and as I said if it goes to OT the Sens will likely win it, which they did. NBA wasn’t so fantastic going 0-2, but I recovered that loss with a sharks Vegas parlay late in the night which made for a good morning surprise. On to today, let’s keep it rolling.

Flyers ML/Reg (70%/65%) – Sorry but I’m not convinced by the Jackets wins over the Isles and Devils. Both those teams have sucked lately. The Leafs shot them back down to earth, and I’m more than happy to play the flyers as a dog. The flyers won their last road game to the best team and home team in the league – the Knights. They’ve won 4 of their last 5, and despite the games between these two being historically tight I favour the flyers with a more consistent offense and as a dog.

POTD – Hurricanes Reg (70%)- The price isn’t cheap, but the Canes have shown what they do to sides that are struggling.. hammering the kings 7-3. The Isles beat the Rangers, and I liked them for that game, but the Canes aren’t in the funk the Rangers are and are desperately clinging on to the last playoff spot in the Met. I just don’t trust the Isles defense or goaltending to rack up win after win right now. Canes won 4-2 at home to the Isles earlier this season, and they should manage just fine today. Take the home side in better condition- fading the Isles is profitable.

Jets Reg- (65%) – I’m weary of taking this considering the Jets have had a bit of a dip in home form lately. The Avs want to stay in the playoff hunt, but at the end of the day I can’t discount the Jets success at home and success against the Avs here in particular. Jets have won the last 4 home meetings against the Avs, and as I’ve learnt , you fade the Avs on the road and tail at home (generally). I wouldn’t take this pick too heavily due to the chalk, and Avs potential but I think Jets get it done.

Like your Caro pick it’ll hit ?? forsure.

No read on others.

Oliver Trigg

You jinxed that one 😉

Mike Diioia

Why is Carolina -200 against the islanders? Seems a little steep may take the islanders as a value play.

Oliver Trigg

Because 1) The canes have already beaten the Isles here this season 2) The Isles can’t keep a beach ball out the net and 3) The Canes just handed a 7-3 smack down to the Kings who are one of the better defensive sides in the league. The Isles have no defence. #fadeisles

Oliver Trigg

Also isles are 1-5 playing on no rest.

LendoD

Good evening all.
A very interesting night last night. I didn’t place butprovided 4 options. It would’ve come in at 3-1 winning.

Tonight provides a less interesting evening of hockey.

On a personal level, I’m very interested in Philadelphia right now. I’m off to the US in a month (literally) to watch them at home vs Capitals. I feel Philly might be hit by the injury to Elliot (GK) (refer link: https://www.google.co.uk/amp/www.sportingnews.com/amp/nhl/news/nhl-flyers-brian-elliott-injury-philadelphia-core-surgery-arizona/fuuzk2oof1st1tbpavnwunm0b )

For me, there could be a few late bloomers this season
Toronto
Philadelphia
Anaheim

It’s these currently mid-places teams which offer some betting potential for me.

Notes:
Jets/Avs – Winnipeg have had many strong performances this season. Likewise, Colorado have too (don’t write them off just yet) but Mackinnon getting injured at such a pivotal time of the season could be a huge issue for them. Local newspaper Denver Post report he is back in training but won’t make this Winnipeg game (https://www.denverpost.com/2018/02/15/avalanche-nathan-mackinnon-update/). There’s a few other bits and bobs about this matchup but I’m tailing a Jets win here.

Jackets/Flyers – as mentioned by Oliver, quite rightly the Jackets got absolutely SPANKED by Toronto. Kadri was on fire. Almost literally – the Leafs forwards play was shit hot and fully deserved the win. I’m on the fence on this one – CBJ aren’t a BAD team, but they’re not exactly Vegas and don’t fill me with confidence. Flyers inc OT looks a good value bet. Stretch my neck out – they might even close it in Regulation.

Syd

Hey Lendo, Love my Leafs and scoring 6 against the Jackets was great but IMO, the final score in any game is not necessarily indicative of the play. Korpisalo 2.97GA was in net; One goal was an empty netter, Leafs gave up 57SOG but luckily Andersen was hot. Like the Flyers too and even though they scored 4, they gave up 39SOG to Vegas and luckily for them Neuvirth was hot. Every game has its own story:) Look’n forward to tonight’s. Good luck!

Matthew

Main bets:
Jets reg, PL

Small bets:

Parlay: Canes reg&Jets reg

Syd

Thanks G.
Four divisional gms and Wild Card spots up for grabs. All gms are hard to call and possible draws in any of them. Jackets lost to the Leafs 6-3 but played well with 57SO. Beat Flyers 2-1SO in Dec.
If you don’t think the NYI will get backtoback shutouts then Carolina is up 1-0:) Both have exchanged wins: Isles 6-4 & Canes 4-2.
Blues beat the Stars 4-2 & 3-0@home. Stars beat the Blues 4-2@home. Stars were shutout in their last gm 4 days ago. Jets may have the edge but Avs beat Jets 3-2OT in Nov & 3-2OT in Jan. Jets beat Avs 3-0 in Feb. Enjoy the gms:) Good luck all!

magus1349

Flyers, Islanders and Stars with 1u;
Konecny, Barzal, Landeskog and Radulov with 0.5u.

Calle Medin

Jets and Stars will be my tips tonight – 2u.

Peter Jordan

Do you mind explaining your Stars pick?

Calle Medin

St Louis is:

2-5 in their last seven road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600

0-4 the last four games in this series

Dallas is:

10-2 in their last 12 home games vs. a team with a winning road record

6-1 in their last seven after scoring two goals or less in their previous game

Ben Bishop does not have great numbers against the Blues in his career, while Jake Allen has good numbers against the Stars. Still, I like the Stars in this game. Ben Bishop is off of a horrible showing against the Canucks and will be looking to get back on track in this one. He has gone a solid 17-9 with a 2.18 GAA here at home for the year and Jake Allen is just 9-10 with a 2.18 GAA on the road. Both of these teams are fighting to stay in the race for a division title and I feel that the Stars at home will be a bit more motivated for this one, especially after having to stew over a 6-0 loss to the Canucks at home for five days. Take the Stars in this one and the clincher is the fact that the Stars are 17-5 in their last 22 games following a home loss of three or more goals.

SanDiegoBruinsD

I’m concerned about the Stars coming off a long break. They are 1-4 coming off a long break. Blues are also coming off a break, albeit shorter, and they have fared better. They are also playing pretty well. The under could be a play here.

Mojo

Allen has been awful this year, only play here would be Dallas and I wouldn’t mind Dallas in reg even.

SanDiegoBruinsD

You’ve convinced me

Mojo

Good! Haha

Syd

Hey Calle,
Just wondering what source has the Blues at 0-4 in this series but the NHL site has the Blues at 2-1.
4-2 in Oct, 3-0 in Dec @home and Stars 4-2@home.

Calle Medin

Sorry, I meant that the home team is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings.

Syd

No worries:) Thanks?

Calle Medin

Right should be right!

What’s your thoughts about the matches tonight?

Syd

All gms could be draws but I give the edge to the Jackets, Canes and Stars.
Jackets 50+SOG past 3gms; Edge in the crease with Bobrovsky (2.45GA)
Canes have the edge in goal; Ward 2.60GA and Greiss 4.90 GA; Ward 9GA and Greiss 20GA last 5 gms; Canes last 10: 6-3-1.
Stars Home record, 20-9-1, Bishop 2.50GA vs Allen 2.74GA; Motivated based on shutout in last gm;

Peter Jordan

a belated thank you.

LendoD

Stars have won 3 of their last 4 home games. Dallas have won 17/30 home games in regulation this year – thats not a bad record.

St Louis have won 11/28 away games in regulation, 4 in OT. The Blues have a few injuries (not really considered major players) but Dallas have had a massive 5 (FIVE) days rest.

SanDiegoBruinsD

I have a 3-unit bet tonight on CBJ SOG over 29 1/2. In their previous three games their shots on goals exceeded 50+. I also like them to win in regulation tonight. Goalie Bob is is 9-2-0 with a 1.79 GAA and .939 save percentage against his previous team and is 6-0-0 with a 1.29 GAA and .954 save percentage in six games at home vs the Flyers. CBJ has had a bumpy road lately but has shown signs of picking things up recently. They had dominant wins over the Isles and Devils and kept things close with some decent teams. The over might be a play here too, but with Goalie Bob’s record vs the Flyers there’s a bit of hesitancy.

CBJ SOG over 29 1/2

SDB

Which outlet offers you a shots on goal market?

SanDiegoBruinsD

I’m in US so I can only use Bovada for hockey props. The line moved since I placed my initial bet from 29 1/2 -115 to 30 -120. I added some with the new line. I’m very confident about this

Juri Safoshin

Hi to all,

Have been thinking what to take a while, and only one i have decided, based on a few games i have seen online from Europe is a Hurricanes to win in a regulation. 2 units.

I also took 1 unit for Carolina -1.5, weekend time, lets enjoy the match.

Glta.

ArreD

Guys can i trust on st louis win? Or will stars win? I was thinking to combine with jets win and flyers. All in reg

Oliver Trigg

If I were to take anyone it would be Dallas. That being said, the games today are very variable. I wouldn’t take a 3 team accumulator all in reg.

Mojo

I think the Jackets and Jets are great plays to not only win but do it relatively easily. The Jackets in particular have been playing extremely hungry and are skating again, Wennberg back is huge and they have a huge advantage in net as well. The Jets/Avs game features two teams that have massive home/road dichotomies and the team that is strong at home is indeed at home tonight while the team that is average at best on the road is in fact…on the road. Add to the fact Mackinnon is out… JETS.

Also like Isles/Canes Under 6.5!!

Oliver Trigg

I saw the under 6.5 , and I’m always keen to jump on the under on a total that high. I took it last night for the Vegas game. However, with Griess in net and both teams potentials to leak and score I won’t take it this time.

Mojo

Carolina is the type of team to play low scoring close to the vest type games. They don’t take penalties and when they do kill them off. They are also a team that skates well and pressures the puck which leads to tighter games. The Islanders have also started to change how they play and aren’t as careless in their own end. The only thing I don’t like is Greiss in net however regression to the mean is inevitable and he CAN’T continue to be this BAD.

Oliver Trigg

I disagree with Jackets being an easy win, just because they’ve not shown enough for me to believe that. Beating the Isles and Devils convincingly isn’t the most impressive thing.

Mojo

They are playing desperate hockey and look motivated once again. Key guys back in the lineup will help their ailing offense and again they hold a huge advantage where it matters most…in net. This is also a game where the line tells you everything you need to know, at first glance CBJ shouldn’t be this big of a fave but they are one for a reason. Flyers on the road are also a bad bet

Juri Safoshin

A would not take any of these.

Lean Dallas and Jets, without looking into stats, but taking both at a parlay, regulation, – nope.

Besides, have a feeling there might be a draw here.

Good Luck.

Syd

Hey Arre, I favour the Stars like most on this site do but no one can tell you who’s going to win and if they do, a red flag should go up because anything can happen. I would feel awful if I told someone what team to bet on and they lost. We’re all here to help each other make money. Providing information and their opinions based on research from reputable sources and offering tips is probably where one should draw the line and leave it up to the bettor to decide the bet:) GL

ArreD

thank you man for taking your time to help me

Juri Safoshin

Jets were great.

Oliver Trigg

Adding – Stars Reg (65%) – The blues haven’t had much success in Dallas, and aren’t anything special on the road. Dallas got ruined by the Canucks, to the point of embarrasment. After that performance, I would be shocked if we didn’t see a strong Dallas response right off the start. A humiliated team is a a dangerous team. Dallas has been great at home, and should be motivated after that loss. With Allen confirmed in net, I like this pick a lot. Allen has not been NHL quality this season whilst Bishop has largely been superb. I expect a big game from the Stars who will be out to prove a point.

Calle Medin

Couldn’t agree more.

Oliver Trigg

Let’s get it bro!

Calle Medin

Hell yeah! Cheers mate :-).

Oliver Trigg

Stars 17-5 last 22 after a loss of 2 or more goals. Hope it’s 18-5 tonight.

Going to pull the trigger on a crazy parlay that returns ×6 your money.

Jackets win Reg

Mark

Jackets or Flyers? :/

Matthew

I bet small money on Jackets, because they have shown a good effort in last games, and it is going to pay off eventually, however, I see the game as kind of 50/50, so if you do not want to risk your money, just stay away from that game, because Flyers are pretty good team as well.

Mark

yeah.. will see but i will try both to score in first period 🙂 GL

Philly is 0 for 11 in Columbus.

Jackets PL +195
If I lose so this game in OT so be it. I’ll watch for live wager if it stays close on a OT play.

Jackets win this game but I’ll risk the PL hoping for empty netter

Add Jackets ML, live wager if at any point they fall behind by 1 goal. Amazing odds. I have full faith in Jackets win. But I’ve been wrong before lol
