Oh come on!!!  Both teams I had to win in regulation and both lost in regulation.

I had the Wild to win in regulation against the Senators and the Sens won 4-3.  Forsberg made 40 saves for the Sens but I still can’t believe they won.  This was the first win for the Sens against the Wild in the last 10 meetings.

I also had the Panthers, at HOME, to beat the Predators but the Preds won 6-4.  The Panthers were up 3-1 halfway through the 2nd but the Preds stayed in it outscoring Florida 5-1 in the 2nd half of the game.  This was only the 4th loss for the Panthers on home ice.  To make matters worse, the Preds had Rittich in goal and still beat one of the best teams in the league.
Looking back at those games I don’t think I made the wrong call but these things happen and it sucks so much more that it happened to me twice in one night.

The Jackets beat the Leafs 4-3 in overtime, the Ducks beat the Sharks 4-3 in overtime and the Isles beat the Kraken 5-2.

There is 5 games for us today but I couldn’t come up with a tip I felt confident enough in to make it official.   No tips today guys sorry.  Below I’ll go over each game.

Jets vs Stars Betting Tips:

Any game involving the Jets is tough to bet on.

These teams have played each other twice this season with both picking up one win in extra time by the same score 4-3.

The Stars are in 5th in the Central and the Jets are in 6th.

The Stars do have a good home record and the Jets have a bad road record so it seems as though the Stars should win this game but the Jets have games where they look incredible and with no consistency its hard to back a game with them involved.

Oilers vs Lightning Betting Tips:

The Lightning heavily favored here.

The Oilers are coming into this game after getting pounded by the Wild 7-3.  Before that loss the Oilers had won 5 straight with new coach Woodcroft.

The Lightning have won 2 in a row and 9 of their last 12 games.

I want to take the Lightning in this game but I want to see how the Oilers respond to taking their first loss under their new coach.  They looked great before that Wild game but seemed like a different team where Smith allowed 4 goals on 7 shots.

Sabres vs Canadiens Betting Tips:

I have no idea who wins this game and I feel like its not worth diving into the stats here as both teams have had bad seasons.

Avalanche vs Red Wings Betting Tips:

Ya I like the Avalanche to win this game.  They are the top team in the league and have gone 7-2-1 over their last 10.

The Wings have had almost a week off to rest, heal and try to get ready for a playoff push with only 31 games left.  They currently sit 10 points back of the Bruins for the final playoff spot in the East.  The have won 3 of their last 4 games.

I do like the Lightning to win here but to get any value we need to take them with the handicap and even that is only around 1.86 which seems too low to be worth it.

Kings vs Coyotes Betting Tips:

Another game where the odds make it unplayable.

The Kings have gone 6-2-2 over last 10 and the Coyotes have gone 3-7.

They have played twice this season with the Kings winning the most recent on Saturday 5-3 and the Coyotes winning the first game on November 21st 2-1 in overtime.

A regulation win for the Kings is just above our minimum and 4 of their last 8 games needed extra time.  The Coyotes have only 3 wins this month but a couple huge upsets in there with wins against the Stars and the Avalanche.

I just don’t have enough confidence in the Kings to cover here.  Yes they did in their last meeting against the Coyotes but can they do it two games in a row.

I like Habs too. If there is anytime you should bet on them this season, it should be now.
(but they will probably get smashed now just for this..)

Dumb question: Are there odds where you bet on a team no matter how bad they look? For example, Coyotes vs Panthers, Coyotes have a mono outbreak and the odds for them winning are 8.6.

Good question. There probably is some sort of threshold but I am not sure what it would be. I know I have passed on teams who are 4.25. Maaaybe above 5 you take the gamble? Would depend a lot on the circumstances I think.
