Graeme here – sorry guys absolutely swamped today just getting these up now.
Scott already wrote his up so just going to post them – these are from Scott.
Islanders vs Lightning
For the teams taking a 1-0 lead in the conference finals or semifinals, they have an all-time series record of 127-55 so things look good for the Isles.
But we can’t write off the Lightning. They have basically the same team they had last year when the won the Cup.
The Isles seem like a different team then the one we saw during the regular season where now they are scoring goals but a lot of that had to do with the goalies they had faced up until this point. Jarry was bad for the Pens and Rask was playing through a torn labrum in his hip which hurt his play. Vasilevskiy will give them problems.
The Lightning will find a way to bounce back and win game 2. They are far to good to lose both home games in the semi-finals. They are heavy favorites for game 2 so I’ll take them to win in regulation
Lightning in regulation
This should be a great game. The Isles have made me a believer with their depth, discipline, defense and now offense. Varly has been better than solid and so far they have stayed healthy. I don’t think you can count them out of any game, never mind the series. Bolts are a great team but this could easily be Isles in 6. No bet but I do like a small stake on Isles SC winner at +400
