Hi all,

Well it was an unfortunate 0-3 bloodbath last night, with two of the favoured teams getting absolutely battered.

I think the toughest one had to be Canucks +1.5 though, as I know Scott liked that one a lot. I spent some time doing the math on an empty net goal, in the scenario that Tampa were up a goal and the Canucks pulled their goalie.

Based on the data, I felt it was an +EV play. And what happens? Canucks pull it back to one late, then concede to an empty netter. Frustrating.

Disappointing to have one in all night like that. January still a winning month though with an 11-8 record, thanks to that nice little run we went on over the past week.

That Hurricanes game – man, what the heck happened there. Quite the night of upsets.

I’ve got a bunch of NFL playoff tips to write over at Vin & Graemes Betting Tips so let’s get on with the games today:

Panthers vs Stars

When it comes to Dallas, I always look to back them on the road. Speaking of – how about that Blues bet over them last Sunday? My god that was a tight one eh?

Panthers come in on an excellent home streak. 5 games won in a row, lots of goals scored, 4 of them by 3 or more goals.

Stars without Holtby, Giranov and Radulov. Oettinger has been solid though.

Happy to back the Panthers here. -1.5 probably has merit with the way the Panthers are playing and scoring. But the Stars did to go toe to toe with the Panthers offensively last week, and won in overtime so there is that to consider.

With the way Panthers are performing at home, and the Stars weak road performances, I’m good with Panthers in Regulation.

Wild vs Ducks:

The schedule of the Minnesota Wild is honestly enough for me to say “Nah” to this game.

Off for the Christmas break with games on Dec 20th, then January 1st. Their next game was the 6th. Then they played the 8th and have been off since then.

Ducks aren’t playing well at all, but it’s not like the Wild have been rocking it these past few weeks either.

Minnesota do have Kaprizov back, so I don’t hate the in regulation bet here. But there are just too many risky factors with the schedule and team changes etc. This should be a real statement game for them though.

Avalanche vs Coyotes:

Avs insane heavy favourites. If we were backing them would have to be -2.5. In hockey I’d never bet that. They are frustrated as all hell after the way that Predators game ended and are expected to come out firing here. They’ll be without Helm Landeskog and Byram it appears.

Coyotes of course missing players too.

I do expect Avs to wipe the floor with them, but I can’t back -2.5.

Hi guys.
Tough one last night.
Let’s hope tonight’s better. I’m tailing the Panthers in regulation.
Cheers

Colorado: it’s a Division game, but otherwise nobody cares about beating Arizona except for the point chase. This is a 2-day Home-and-Home series between Colorado and Arizona, and I expect the Avs to win one of them, but could bail on one game if they already have important play-through injuries. Tonight is highly likely the Avs most winnable bet.
Ducks are without a top scorer tonight, while the Wild are getting back key players. Puckline is an option, but probably avoiding that. Best of luck everyone.

Malvicious NHL

Yeah, last night was rough. But those days are rare, so better ones lie ahead! Going with Wild in Regulation tonight, in addition to the Cats. Like WR already mentioned, the Ducks are without Troy Terry tonight. He is the Ducks best player by a mile. The Wild also rebounded very well after the Winter Classic with 2 solid wins over the Bruins and Caps. Another positive note is that backup goalie Kaapo Kahkonen has really found his game again, which we have seen last season from him before he got traumatized by the Avs. He won 4 of his last 5 starts with an impressive .940SV%, saving 158 of 168 shots over that stretch,.

Enjoy the games and good luck everyone!
