Another night where we went 1-1.

We had the Bruins, who have been playing some amazing hockey this year, to beat the Stars.  The Stars took a 2-0 lead only to have the Bruins answer with two of their own forcing OT.  In overtime it was former Bruin Tyler Seguin scoring a beauty to win it for the Stars 3-2.

Our other tip was the Avalanche to beat the Ducks.  The Avs scored first and didn’t look back winning the game 3-1.

The Sharks beat the Kings 4-1.  Quicks former backup Martin Jones picked up the win for San Jose and he is now 9-3-2 against his former team.

The final game of the night saw the Islanders beat the Canadians 5-4 in OT.   The Habs outshot the Isles 56-24.  Tavares scored twice and Barzal scored and added an assist for the Isles.

A decent night of hockey with 6 games scheduled.

Flyers vs Rangers Betting Tips:

The Flyers are on a 4 game win streak.  They have scored 21 goals during this run.

The Rangers are stumbling at the moment. They have lost 3 straight.  But they now get to play two games at home where they have been good this season going 15-8-3.  They need to take advantage of home ice in this one.

The last 3 games between these teams have had goal totals of: 7, 5 and 7.

With the way the Flyers are rolling and the Rangers needing to snap out of their funk, I expect this to be a great game with lots of goals.

Devils vs Islanders Betting Tips:

Both teams come into this game on streaks.  The Devils have lost 6 in a row and the Isles have won 3.

They have both had some high scoring games lately.  The Devils last 3 games had totals of: 8, 9 and 7.  The Isles last 3: 9, 9 and 9.

They played each other last week and it was the Isles winning 5-4 in a shootout.

I like this game to go over.  The Devils need to snap their losing skid and the Isles have Tavares and Barzal flying at the moment.

Great night for me! After i lost with the bruins my other three pre-picks were wins: Avs, Sharks and the pick from my “over-project” (Habs/Isles over 5.5). Also my live pick was good: Bruins/Stars over 3.5

I’m not sure for tonight yet. Maybe the Stars hmmm. But I’ve got already two overs:

> Isles/Devils Over 5.5 & Rangers/Flyers Over 5.5 (Overs: 2/2)

SanDiegoBruinsD

way to go JH!

Syd

Love these stories:) Congrats JH!

Johnny Hockey

Can’t edit the post :/ I have:

> Isles ML: They’re hot right now. And they’re listed as underdogs – crazy! Also they won their last 12 at home vs NJ.

> Stars ML: I like them at the moment. I had a look at the matchup metrics: Dallas is better in 7 of 8 categories – shot attempts, goals for, goals against, power play, penalty kill, save percentage & points perventage. Detroit is only better in penalty differential. Also Bishop has tremendous career numbers against Detroit.

> Vegas ML: Preds coming off their bye week. I see good value here. Also Saros is likely for the Preds.

> Overs: Isles/Devils & Rangers/Flyers

> My local shop (Tipico) is offering “both teams to score 2” – i really like a double (@2.28) with Isles/Devils & Rangers/Flyers.

Syd

Thanks Scott.
Hard not to pick Over when you consider these stats:
Jersey 3.10 GF (8th) 3.00GA (20th)
Isles 3.44GF (2nd) 3.62GA (31st)
Schneider 2.74GA
Halak 3.19GA (not confirmed)

Surprised this is the 1st match up between these div rivals.
Think this one has the potential to go Over with these stats:
Phil 2.98 (12th) 2.84 (16th)
NYR 2.93 14th) 2.84 (17th)
Elliott 2.75 GA
Lundqvist 2.75
*both not confirmed

SJ/Ari 0n paper Sharks should win
and the’ve won both gms this season but in their last game (Jan 13th) Ari took SJ to OT, and scored 5 goals; Bishop was pulled after 3GA & Dell got the win with 2GA; Potential upset this time?
GL ?

Bad pick on early goal scorers yesterday, but saved myself on Byron and M. Pacioretty to score for Montreal 🙂 so happy with that. For today i write down my picks later.

Christopher Cherry

What bookmaker did u use for scorer bets

Geir Aage R Jensen

Norsk Tipping its called, they have good odds on goal scorers in NHL

magus1349

Rangers, Stars, Islanders and Predators with 1u;
Beauvillier, Marner, Spezza and Donskoi with 0.5u.

Oliver Trigg

This week Calgary and Avs have kept me above water, and Golden State -4.5 helped yesterday too. I have a shit load of uni work to do at the moment, so I have to be very brief.

Flyers ML (65%)- I’m not even going to look at the Rangers on principle, who have left me bruised lately winning just 3 of their last 10 games and looking shoddy. The Flyers were earlier listed as an underdog, but the price has come down to a pick’em but I would still rather take the Flyers who have won 5 of their last 6 (including an away win over Tampa).

Islanders ML and over 5.5/6 (65%/80%/75%) – As bas as the islanders have been they’ve now won their last 3 games. Devils have lost their last 6. Isles have won all 5 meetings in New York, and all 5 overall. This pick is based solely on the fact that the Islanders are at a rather large underdog price, which I think is odd considering the Devils troubles. Before the Isles dip they were a fortress at home, and after some wins should be feeling good about their chances tonight. Over as always with Isles is a definite play. They put up goals and let them in.

Blues ML (60%) – Have I gone mad picking another dog? Maybe. But again considering how good the blues can be, this is worth a small shot. Toronto has lost 3 of the last 5 meetings against the Blues at home, and really don’t look that good for me to drink the juice. This is a pick I would only be comfortable playing small, but considering Toronto could barely best the Canucks, lost to the Sens, and lost to a super poor Jackets team I’m sure as hell not taking them.

Dallas ML/Reg (70%/65%) – Call me dumb, but after the Stars just beat one of the best teams in the league I’m fairly confident they can beat a Wings side that doesn’t really string wins together. Sure, the Wings were impressive versus the Hawks, but the Hawks didn’t really show up (again). I watched the Stars push the Bruins all night, and considering the Wings are dealing with injuries I’m more inclined to bet that the Wings don’t notch a second win in a row. Sorry, but I just don’t have THAT much faith in the Wings despite their wins and home performance.

POTD – Vegas ML (75%)- This is a risky pick of the day, but Vegas is the second best team in the NHL and beaten the Preds twice already this season. As I write this I am annoyed at myself for not taking this earlier. Vegas were sitting at +190 / 9/5 for a reg win earlier but have dropped off the cliff (with the announcement of Saros in goal) to +150 on reg. I really wanted that +190, but I will still settle for the +150- although I’ll go lower for some money line security. Preds are no pushovers, and Vegas has slowed down in its goalscoring, but I’m still inclined to take Vegas for the money.

Sharks ML (75%)- Not taking reg because we saw what happened the last time the Sharks played the Coyotes. Giving up lead after lead. I’m not concerned about the rest factor, as the Coyotes are just awful. Sharks should be feeling good after beating the Kings yet again, and won’t allow the Coyotes as many goals as last time. Sharks are better, end of.

Today I feel confident (surprisingly) after this bad run, and it’s going to end today. Lets get that money back.

SanDiegoBruinsD

what happened to taking a break 🙂 I’m pretty much on the same page today though I’m passing on the Blues Leafs game

Oliver Trigg

I am on a break- playing very small amounts.

Syd

Like the Stars too when you consider their stats:
7-3-0, FO%52.9%(1st)
Other stats are steady at
PP(15th) PK(16th)
Bishop is 1.85GA based on his last 4/6 gms including 1 shutout;
Wings shoutout Chi but can’t see them repeat that scenario; Their numbers are
average if not below:
2.65GF(26th) 3.02(21st) PP(24th) PK(17th)
Last matchup: Dal vs Wings 4-2. We all know stats are a guide and not a guarantee for a win so I think if the Stars take that positive energy and play with the same intensity after beating the Bruins, they’ll beat the
Wings. Leafs are my team so I hope they beat the Blues, but both are returning from a bye so decided to stay away from this one.

SanDiegoBruinsD

Can I say it? The Bruins stunk yesterday. They came out flat and paid the price to Seguin et al. I knew the Stars would be super motivated wanting to get their road trip off to a good start and with Seguin returning to the team that traded him for a bag of pucks (well not really), but I didn’t expect the Bruins to show up in their own barn in front of a holiday crowd with a 5 compete level. Unacceptable! I’m sure they’ll destroy their next opponent.

Stars ML – I was really impressed with the Stars yesterday. They played 60 mins of hockey and even when the Bs were applying pressure for an extended period they remain composed. They are fast, skilled and, I never thought I’d say this for team with Tyler Seguin, their forwards take responsibility in their own end. The Wings are talented, determined and have some great young players. Andreas Athanasiou is a really dynamic player and with Larkin and Mantha this team has a great young core. However, they don’t have the depth and skill of the Stars. If the Stars show up today, and it will be interesting to see if they take the Red Wings seriously, they should end up with a W over a Wings team that is still missing a couple of key guys. Sure the Wings thumped Chicago but if you watched that game it was like the Harlem Globetrotters playing the Washington Generals. The Blackhawks literally tried to lose. Tonight’s opponent is in a different class altogether. Add to that the Stars needing to hold onto that wildcard and you’ve got a motivated Dallas team.

Knights ML – It’s crowded at the top of the Western Conference and the Preds are looking for points. They are tough in their own barn and will be seeking revenge from the last two games against the Knights so they should have plenty of motivation. But, I believe in the Knights and they have shown they are not a flash in the pan. Vegas begins a four-game road trip in Nashville and has won five of six away from home, starting with the last visit to Bridgestone Arena. The Golden Knights are coming off a 3-2 overtime loss to the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday following their bye week and were sent off on their trip with a Fan Fest on Sunday that should motivate them to continue their winning ways during one of the toughest parts of their schedule. Like the Stars yesterday in Boston, they’re going to be looking to get things off on the right skate. Great value here for the Knights to sweep the Preds for the season. Las Vegas is 10-2 in its last 12 games and is 5-1 in its last six games on the road. I like the under in this game as well. The total has gone under in four of Nashville’s last five games and for the Knights the under is 4-1 in their past five and 7-2 in their previous nine.

Isles ML – Another team that has caught fire are the Isles. With a mini-streak of 3 Ws they come home to face their rivals from over the bridge. It was an early night home last night so they should be rested enough to strap them on again today. Greiss was insane last night stopping 56 shots!!!! but Havlak is the better goalie and he’ll be between the pipes tonight. I think they’ll be a few goals tonight but I won’t touch a 6 1/2 over. I think the Isles get it done again against a Devils team that can’t seem to find their way right now. It could be a spot for the Isles to take the night off after a lot of success and for the Devils to be seeking a turnaround game and revenge over their loss to the Isles recently, but I think the Isles are just too skilled and have too much chemistry for the Devils to keep up.

Other thoughts:
Flyers-Rangers – I think the Rangers troubles continue and the Flyers take home the W. I’m not so sure of the over, Rangers are in a serious scoring slump and Hank is in net tonight. Even though they need a W badly, I just don’t think they have what it takes to get it done and they know it.

Blues-TML – I don’t see any sharp bets around this game with two teams coming off long rests. Everyone needs points so they should be motivated but that doesn’t always translate into a good game. I’m staying away and suggest you do the same.

Sharks-Yotes – The Sharks are playing really well right now and with a packed Western every game makes a difference so I expect them to be up for tonight’s tilt vs the Yotes. The Yotes have plenty of motivation too. While their playoff picture seems dim they don’t give up as was seen in their OT loss to the Sharks on Saturday. They haven’t played since then and they’ll be looking for some revenge in front of their home crowd. They could steal one from the Sharks who beat the Kings last night and could have a let down, but I think I like the over in this game. It doesn’t qualify as a tip, but I’m putting a small bet down on the over.

GLTA SDB

Oliver Trigg

Ditto everything.

Johnny Hockey

The Isles won ALL of their last 12 games at home vs the Devils! :O And theyre listet at underdogs – WOW

lion

Winning all of their home games do not mean they will keep doing that. Islanders not stable team since 3 years. And same goes for this year as well. They lose and win unexpected games. Devils have much better performance than them and they seem for stable. I think that is why isles are barking dogs today.

Johnny Hockey

Just a nice stat 😉 Like Sharks yesterday.

IanG

……AND Devils have lost 6 of their last 6 games!

Oliver Trigg

Like Isles and Vegas quite a bit. The rust factor of coming off the bye week seems to be quite real. 20-9 if you bet against the team coming off the bye, going back to last season. Vegas not lost back to back since beginning of December.

LendoD

Yes you can say it. Boston were awful. Fact.

lion

I do not really have much time to analyse the tonight games but I have 3 games and I think these teams have better chance to win.

Rangers win
Toronto win
Predators win

Btw it was nice to be able to watch nhl games live yesterday. Usually I watch repeats on setanta because of timezone.

Anyway guys, good luck!

Oliver Trigg

Typical. Exact opposite again. Lmfao. And this time none of those teams are dogs lol. Do you see what I post and just decide to fade it lol?

lion

Ahaha I should have listened your advises yesterday to not give up on my dogs. So you were right 🙂

Btw I do not think that ll be difficult for Rangers to score against Flyers.

Toronto is one of the best team this year but somehow they lost their stability and thing did not go well but I think today may be the day to bounce forward.

Nashville game is tough one and open to any result. Winner is unpredictable. Saying that one ll win is not right but we all have to do our decision. I use my decision on nashville because of the quality. I think they are still one of the best team.

magus1349

Try to wake up early at 5.00 if you want to watch more games! Like me.:))

lion

I was doing that before but nahh. Prefer to watch the repeatings 🙂

Arto Reinikainen

Agree with others here with Dallas.

They’ve been dynamite in these games following bounce backs lately (6-0 Sharks, 5-1 Oilers) and just in general playing good hockey for a while now. They’re the better team and Bishop’s dominated Detroit in his career.

Red Wings had that emotional game against the Hawks and often it can be difficult to follow up a game like that with another good game. You can think back to Carolina beating Pittsburgh (in a similar spot, after 2 losses after playing great) then getting stomped by the Bruins 7-1 next game.

As always complacency is a concern when going up against these mediocre-at best teams, but Dallas has great respect for Chicago and im sure they’re aware of that blowout so you’d expect them stay sharp. The players also talked about the importance of this 4-game road trip and when teams really focus on getting things done these road trips can be very profitable for bettors. (although watch out for the next one in Columbus, Stars haven’t been able to win 3 in a row lately and they’ve lost 3 straight to the Jackets, already smells like a loss lol)

I’ve no problem taking them in reg. tonight

Oliver Trigg

Lets not forget, Colorado and San Jose have both played less games than Dallas. They could both feasibly take Dallas’s playoff spot if they don’t keep up. Plenty of motivation.

Syd

For some reason, can’t edit my post. Completely agree with your take on the Stars/Wings gm. If the Stars play with the same intensity they did with the Bruins, they should win. Bishop is 1.87GA in his last 4/6gms with 1 shutout. Wings are 2.65GF (26th) 3.02GA (21st)
Stars FO%52.9(1st) vs Wings 48.6%(24th)
*Last meeting: Stars beat Wings 4-2. Go Stars!
Leafs are my team so hope they beat the Blues. As far as betting,
both are returning from a bye so
I’m staying away from this one.
Go Leafs!

jmskippy

Got a free bet so need to parlay or accumulate it to get any value… Thinking

GOOD LUCK ALL!!!

LendoD

After Boston deciding to turn up for the early face off yesterday and going home early too,get a little luckless the last few plays.

Time to step it up again.

I’m stuck what to lay on tonight. I see the tips, I see the comments. I said a few nights back that I’d jump on the Knights bandwagon – but I like the Preds.

Philly were on a roll, but I don’t have faith in them beating a Rangers team who seemingly turn up some nights and flake on other nights.

Dallas won last night (no shit, Sherlock…) and actually looked like they handled Boston pretty damn well. In consideration of the wings being a seemingly “weaker” team, this looks an option.

Most nights, I can makeup my own mind. I really just need a little guidance on this one.

SanDiegoBruinsD

Preds are without Forsberg and Arvidsson, that’s a lot of their offence sitting out. Rangers are in complete disarray and I wouldn’t do anything but fade them. Flyers are a good value. Wings are not a bad team and will give Stars a game but I think Stars win tonight.

Juri Safoshin

Hello friends.

I will try a bigger bet on Predators vs Knights over 5.5 tonight. Bet done.

Lean Devils win (no OT), Sharks and Stars (with OT win).
Special thanks to all posting here within the years, thanks mates.

I can be totally wrong, any comments are welcomed – there will be some surprises even for gurus as well tonight. Probably 2 games
will go to OT.

Good Luck to All !!!

SanDiegoBruinsD

Preds are without two of their top scorers Forsberg and Arvidsson tonight, you might want to dial back that bet on the over. Also, the total has gone under in four of Nashville’s last five games and for the Knights the under is 4-1 in their past five and 7-2 in their previous nine.

Juri Safoshin

Thanks, will think about

jmskippy

Good night from London. Lekker slaap. Good luck to all.

Oliver Trigg

South African?

jmskippy

Born and bred in Cape Town my bru.
You…Zimbo right? Gonna beat Sri Lanka?

Oliver Trigg

Yeah born and bred in Zimbabwe. Surprised we beat anyone these days lol. Got ripped to shreds by South Africa, lost by like 120 runs and an innings. Was just in Cape Town for Christmas!

jmskippy

Ahh, cricket is taken more seriously in SA than Zim and probably exponentially more people playing the game too.
Hope you enjoyed CT. We got to pray it rains soon for them. You do some serious analysis so I have no doubt your hockey tips will turn “your” way again soon. As I have read and learned, the bye week has affected the teams.

Oliver Trigg

I did! Yeah, water going to run out in March/April. Crazy, an entire city going to have no water.

Iceman

Good Day Gents

Iceman

Even tho NJD coming from bye week they look just great against Islanders team that played yesterday !!

Iceman

I posted this picks almost 4 hours ago and were detected as spam ?

Dallas Stars -130
Vegas Golden Knights +105
New York Rangers -1.5 (+250)

SanDiegoBruinsD

Preds are without top scorers Arvidsson and Forsberg tonight, under TT 2.5 is worth consideration. Conversely, Knights over TT 2.5 is also worth consideration if there’s any value there.

Syd

Thanks for the update. Preds still have some balanced scoring but Forsberg (tied for 1st with 15 goals) and Arvidsson (13 goals) is a big hit to their offence. Returning from a bye makes their game unpredictable.

Iceman

Ranger will bounce back tonight PL looks great !!
