Hey everyone.

We had the Wings to beat the Sabres and they did 3-2 in overtime.  This was a tough one to watch as the Sabres were up 2-1 halfway through the 3rd.  Larkin tied it with around 6:30 left and also scored the OT winner.  The Wings swept the Sabres in the season series 4-0.

We had the Kings to win but after Kempe was announced out, we made an edit and posted a comment stating it was best not to take that one. If we ever back something and there’s a goalie change, COVID pullout etc please don’t hesitate to e-mail us or ask in the comments as to whether we still like that one or not.   It was the Timo Meier show as he scored a franchise record 5 goals for the Sharks when they won 6-2.

The Isles beat the Flyers 4-1 and this was the Flyers 8th straight loss.  The Avs beat the Wild 4-3 in a shootout, the Penguins stormed back scoring 5 unanswered to beat the Knights 5-3 and the Blues beat the Preds 5-3.

Jets vs Capitals Betting Tips:

The Caps have had a rough start to the new year going 1-3-2 and have been outscored 23-13.  They’re at home where they have lost their last 3.

The Jets are 3-1 this month but have some big injury problems as Wheeler, Stastny, Dillon and others are out.

With the Caps recent struggles in Washington I’ll skip this game.

Sabres vs Senators Betting Tips:

This is one of those games that are really hard to try and predict.

The Sens won both of their games in Alberta beating the the Flame and the Oilers and now begin a 3 game home stand.  But there will be no fans due to the Covid capacity restrictions in Ontario.

I was leaning towards a Sens win and they still may do that but without fans and this being their first home game since December 11th I’m passing on this one.

Islanders vs Flyers Betting Tips:

These teams played last night and for the Flyers it was their 8th loss in a row. The Flyers already have one 10 game losing skid this season and it cost Vigneault his job as coach of Philly.

The Isles have won 4 of their last 5 games but are still in last place in the Metro Divison.  They are tied with the Sens for the least amount of games played this season and the will need to have a strong go over the last 50 games to try and save this season.

Seems like a good spot to take the Isles but the Flyers are at home and can’t afford to lose anymore as having two 10 game skids won’t cut it.

Canes vs Bruins Betting Tips:

The Bruins will retire No. 22 of Hall of Fame wing Willie O’Ree who on this day 64 years ago broke the NHL’s color barrier.

This is going to be a great game.  The Canes have won 6 of their last 8 games, the Bruins have won 5 in a row and their last 3 at home.

I’m skipping this game as it’s tough when both teams have no real weaknesses and both are playing great.

Canucks vs Predators Betting Tips:

The Predators played last night and took the loss.  With the Avs winning and the Preds losing to the Blues they are now in 3rd place in the Central Divison.

The Canucks have gone 6-3-1 over their last 10 but have 9 players out and 5 of them have Covid. The Preds have lost their last 3.

To get any value on the Preds we would need to take them in regulation but given that they have lost 3 in a row and 2 of their last 4 games needed overtime I’m skipping this one.

Canadiens vs Stars Betting Tips:

The Habs have lost 6 in a row and the Stars have lost their last 2.

The Stars are heavy favorites and to get any value it would need to be a -1.5 pick but I have no confidence in that so I’m skipping this game.

Panthers vs Flames Betting Tips:

The Panthers have been amazing of late going 8-0-1 over their last 9 games and are in 1st place overall in the league.  They have scored at least 4 goals in 9 straight games.

The Flames have lost 4 in a row and have been outscored 20-7 over this skid.

The Panthers are the best team in the league and are having no trouble scoring so I see no reason not to take them here.  They beat the Flames 6-2 on January 4th.

Panthers in regulation

Everyone Else: 2.20 Odds at Bet365 (Americans: We recommend http://www.bovada.lv

(Odds correct as of 2022/01/18 9:29:59 AM EST but are subject to change.)

Lightning vs Kings Betting Tips:

Another game where the Lightning are favored and the odds reflect that.

They have won their last 3 games but the Kings have won their last 3 at home.

I like the Lightnings chances in this game but to get any value it has to be a regulation win and with the Kings playing well at home right now it’s tricky to make it a tip.

Thx… Now it works…

Graeme

No. We have a general loose schedule which is:

Tuesday: NBA
Wednesday: Golf
Thursday: NBA
Friday: Soccer
Weekend: NFL

That’s pretty much it – it’s more of a hobby site so we don’t push too hard with the work and break it up.

To WIN moneyline: Florida, NYI, Stars
Leans: to WIN: Preds, Senators

The only way Florida or Stars or Islanders lose is if they choose to take the day off. Looking at the schedule, I see no reason for them to avoid full effort tonight.

NY gets two days off then plays Arizona; an invitation to put in 100% tonight. Philly is ailing while Islanders are on a strong upswing. Considering the puckline.

Florida gets a day off next before playing the slumping Oilers and Canucks after that. Panthers have been staying and practicing in Banff, Alberta (in the mountains west of Calgary, 1000′ higher than Calgary too) so they’ve done all they could to be acclimatized for these two Alberta games, which means they want the points.

Canucks finish a 9-game road trip and must be thrashed, thrilled at beating Caps on a back-to-back, and ready for two days off at home. Nashville is 11-6-0 at home, and while on a back-to-back, will be pissed at losing to Boston and St. Louis (very good teams) and want this win. Nashville gets a day off before playing two crap teams next, at home, so should feel confident tonight.

Senators playing hot, off two great wins, rested at home, while Buffalo is on a back-to-back with travel and not playing well.

Habs on a back-to-back against the Stars rested at home.

Any thoughts on the over in the Bruins – Canes and Jets – Capitals games?
