Well if I wasn’t such a wuss yesterday we’d be celebrating a 1-0 or 2-0 night as both bets I liked a lot yesterday came in.

I was strongly leaning towards the Stars -1.5 and they won 4-1. It was a bit tight at times and a close enough game. It took until 3 minutes left and an empty netter for that one to be wrapped up by the Stars.

I also liked the over in the Canes/Capitals game. That one came in as well although it required a hefty 3rd period which had 5 goals as the Capitals edged them 4-3.

While it sucks that they weren’t official tips – I’m still happy as like I said it’s nice to see after December we’re on the right track. Just one of those things where confidence will slowly grow. Also both were relatively tight and man sometimes it’s nice to be watching hockey and not sweating it.

Yesterdays poll asked what was the best bet of the night and props to all of you. The top 3 results were “Capitals Win, Stars -1.5 and Over 6.5 in Caps/Hurricanes game” and all three of those game in which was nice to see. Props to you guys for that. On nights with 2-3 games we’ll have to do similar polls.

Actually I might do that poll on some nights even bigger nights as it seems like it got a good reaction and it’s a tough one to think about so let’s go with that again tonight.

We’ll feature these two games:

Penguins at Canadiens
Lightning at Senators

Here’s a random stat I saw prior to the Flyers vs Knights game – Flyers road games are 19-2 for there being a goal scored in the first 10 minutes. And that happened again against the Knights to make it 20-2. I haven’t had a chance to verify that yet – literally just remembering about it now – but they’re on the road against the Coyotes tonight. Something to think about. You can bet there to be a goal in the first 10 minutes at these sportsbooks:

USA: Bovada.
Everyone Else: 888 Sports.

Quick look at some games today. Panthers haven’t had an OT game in awhile but that game seems like it could be very close and I like it to go to OT. Usually high scoring games but the Sabres offense concerns me lately.

Bruins vs Oilers will be interesting. Oilers have had the Bruins number in the majority of matches in the McDavid era. I like the line changes the Oilers implemented. If Bruins didn’t have Krug, McAvoy and Krejci all back I’d back the Oilers here easily at this price honestly. However they’ve returned and had a game to get going again and I think that will spur them on.

Canucks vs Rangers seems like an obvious over. I just wonder if those two tough losses for the Rangers will wear on them. One of those “I’ll probably regret this obvious tip” bets but I just don’t feel comfortable backing it.

Let’s get on with the tips so I can get back to watching NJPW Wrestle Kingdom 14:

Knights vs Blues Betting Tips:

The Vegas Golden Knights are out to prove a point. They’re on an excellent run right now, and are 11-4-2 since Thanksgiving. Yet they’re being called out for struggling against playoff-calibre teams.

They had a big win against the Flyers however and I thought they looked very motivated there. They will want to continue that and be fired up against the St. Louis Blues, who are ahead of them by 6 points in the West.

This is a massive game for the Knights and an important spot for them and I think they can do it. The Blues are having a minor collapse at the moment so it’s a great time for the Knights if they can strike early. Their PK was non-existent against the Avs.

Blues have a solid record against the Knights with a 5-0-2. You obviously can’t count the Blues out as they are a quality team.

Actually this is a funny one as I was going to go with the Knights here incl OT/SO. However the more I look at it the more I feel we’ll see the goals. Blues will be desperate to get the win and get back to winning while the Knights want to make a statement.

Both are solid defensively this season but I think it’ll go out the window here.

Leafs vs Islanders Betting Tips:

These last couple of games have really won me over on the Leafs.

They’re just looking like a proper hockey team. I’m loving watching them right now and they’re giving me that sort of confidence that this is a team that can quite simply go out there and win games.

It’s a rare feeling to have this season but Leafs are a team I feel comfortable backing. Loving watching Nylander right now.

Islanders are no slouch of course. Lot of struggles at home lately but they have mostly did the business away.

The Leafs defensive issues are still there and obvious. Andersen has had to step up big time for them. Even though he let in 3 against the Jets it could have been worse. Islanders offensive stats are poor this season though and I can’t see their defense stopping the Leafs right now.

These two teams had a 9 goal thriller on the 14th of November. The over is an obvious play. However I just have a lot of confidence in the Leafs right now.

0.5u on Leafs in Regulation if Andersen plays

(Note: Andersen is not in net. I’d probably back the over 6.5 instead at 2.00 instead for 0.5u)

Canada: 1.93 Odds at 888 Sports.
USA: -115 Odds at Bovada.
Everyone Else: 1.93 Odds at 888 Sports.
