It was a disappointing performance from the Caps last night, as they looked sloppy against the Preds and were lacking the killer instinct. Unlike the previous Preds game, Nashville deserved that win.

Red Wings/Panthers was a tight one as expected. Jets got the nice win. What a disappointing game Coyotes vs Blackhawks was. I was hoping there’d at least be a good amount of goals in that one. Flames got the solid win as the Isles offense slump continues, and Ducks vs Sharks was a banger.

A slightly more reasonable Saturday with 9 games on the slate. I’m getting to these late so I won’t have any official tip in Devils vs Rangers. The mailing list unfortunately takes forever to send out with so many subscribers. It can take about 4 hours these days.

Let’s get to it:

Devils vs Rangers:

Devils had that tough loss to the Blues on the B2B. Not tipping this due to the time, but I think there is merit in taking the Rangers to win at 2.10 or above.

Blue Jackets vs Hurricanes:

Canes come in off that tough Preds loss. Jackets continue to generally be terrible. Canes massive favourites here.

By the metrics yeah they likely cover the -1.5 on the road but I’m not a fan of that 1.80ish price. Jackets offense should be performing better and the Canes have had a few issues with leaking goals lately. No bet here.

Maple Leafs vs Red Wings:

Fresh off that pitiful performace against the Kraken, Leafs are massive favourites as they host Detroit. The Wings are on a B2B, and Hellberg is likely in net. He’s been hot and cold. Did shut out the Pens.

Nothing overwhelming standing out here. I wouldn’t touch Leafs -1.5 with their results over the last 3 weeks. The over looks tempting but just not overwhelmingly so. If I was to do a play it’d be that. No goal related bets are even remotely worth it with the odds for the Leafs.

Sabres vs Wild:

This should be a really good game. Bookies have this as a flip really with the Wild slight favourites. Looking at the metrics that seems about right. Wild defensively are better but being on the road is tricky here but it’s not like Buffalo is a scary place to visit.

I’d give the slight edge to Minnesota too. Odds seem right on the money here.

Senators vs Kraken:

Ottawa coming in with a couple of strong wins over the Jackets and Sabres. Kraken on a three game winning streak. What a streaky freaking team. They make it so hard to back any games involving them.

Corsi & Fenwick for both teams is extremely close. Kraken overperforming offensively, goals against is about right. Sens offense underperforming offensively, goals agaisnt on point.

Sens seem to be righting the ship though offensively right now. These two haven’t played yet this season.

I think there’s enough here to go with Senators incl OT/SO and the odds make it fine based on both teams overtime stats to go with the overtime instead of regulation.

Canadiens vs Blues:

Habs come in on a string of brutal results. There isn’t much to enjoy as a Montreal fan right now.

Blues though – only a handful of regulation wins since November 23rd. By the metrics, Blues are pretty poor but the Habs are a lot worse. Even if both teams were performing as they should, Blues should come out on top based primarily on their offense. And Tarasenko and O’Reilly out.

It won’t surprise me if Blues win even with all the injuries. But cannot back them.

Oilers vs Avalanche:

Yeah I mean if Avs rise to the occasion, or Oilers be the Oilers then so be it.Avs are always concerning to back against because regardless of results, their advanced metrics are good. But it is what it is. One of those plays where I feel there’s enough value and feel confident enough in – but if it doesn’t come in, I won’t be surprised at all. Tis hockey.

Oilers incl OT/SO if Skinner in net

Knights vs Kings:

Knights performing better. Wish I was able to take them against the Pens on Thursday. Kings just had that tough loss at home to the Bruins.

Eichel being back is big for them too.

I’d like to take the Knights here but the incl OT/SO price is too short, and I just don’t feel super good about regulation. Very close, but no play.

Sharks vs Bruins:

Like the Bruins obviously but -1.5 on the road is not a play I am a big fan of. A quick glance at the metrics and yeah that is not a play.

ASLE MARTINSEN

Sabres v Wild I’d go with over 6.5 in regulation (Wild are without Zuccarello btw)
Canes and over 5.5 in regulation
Leafs and over 5.5 in regulation
Bruins -1.5
Blues in regulation
