We move onto a Western Conference matchup with this article. Its the Canucks vs the Wild.

This may be the series I’m least looking forward to personally. The Canucks do have some young stars which should make this a good series. But as a Blackhawks fan I never look forward to or watch a game when the Canucks are involved.

Sorry to all Canucks fans, this year you were much better than us. But I still remember the days when the Hawks had to take on Bieksa, Kesler and Mitchell who were tough bastards and a pain to play against. So I’ll admit it, I hold grudges lol.

The average odds for this series are the Canucks to win the series for 1.80 odds. The Wild to win the series is 2.05.

Canucks vs Wild Series Betting Tips

These teams last met in the playoffs in 2003. Lots has changed for both teams in the 17 years since but there is a history between these two teams.

The Canucks went 36-27-6 for 78 points. The were in 4th in Pacific Division and 9th place in the Western Conference tied with the Predators who held the 8th and final wild card spot. The Wild went 35-27-7 for 77 points. The finished in 6th place in the Central Division and 10th in the wild card spot only 1 point back.

The played 3 times this season with the Wild winning 2 of 3.

January 12th(in Minnesota) Canucks 4 – Wild 1
February 6th(in Minnesota) Wild 4 – Canucks 2
February 19th(in Vancouver) Wild 4- Canucks 3 in a shootout

If the season had continued as normal these teams would have been battling it out for the wild card spot so it’s only fitting they meet in the play-in round.

The Canucks had 4 players score 20 goals and 3 others in double digits. The Wild had 2 players score 20 goals and 7 others with double digits.

On defense the Wild are the better squad. Suter is still a freak who is capable of playing 30+ minutes a game. They also have Dumba and Spurgeon to form a solid defense. The Canucks have Hughes who was putting together a Calder Trophy worthy season. They still have Edler and Myers as their top 3.

Where there is a difference, and one which may decide the series is goaltending. The Wild started the season with Dubnyk as their starter but eventually that roll was handed to Stalock as the two basically split duties throughout the season. The Canucks have Markstrom who was having an MVP season for the Canucks going 23-16-4 with a 2.75 GAA and a .918 save percentage.

Conclusion: The Canucks are the younger and more skilled team in my opinion. Boeser, Horvat and Pettersson and all young skilled forwards and are better than the Wilds aging core of Staal, Parise and Koivu. As I mentioned above I’m not a Canucks fan but I like their chances to win this series.

It’s the Canucks youth and the play of Markstrom that has be going with the Canucks to win the series for 1.80 odds
