No tips yesterday.  Only 3 games and there was a pile of goals.

The Leafs beat the Capitals 5-3.  This was the Leafs 3rd straight win and it was the Caps 6th loss in a row at home.

The Devils beat the Canucks 7-2.  The Devils have scored 7 goals 3 times in their last 7 games and also had a game in there where they scored 6 times.  If they could only stay healthy it would be interesting to see what they could do.

The Bruins went to work against the Kings and beat them with ease 7-0.  DeBrusk scored a natural hat trick to open the scoring and the Bruins didn’t look back.  They have won 5 in a row which matches their longest win streak of the season.

A much busier night tonight with 9 games for us.

Devils vs Jackets Betting Tips:

With the Devils playing last night will they be able to keep the goals coming?  They don’t do very well on back to back games going 2-6-0-2 and after a win they have gone 2-4-0-1.

The Jackets come into this game in a 2 game losing skid but I’m sure they are glad to be done with the stretch of teams they just had to play.  They beat the Leafs and Panthers but lost to the Canes and Penguins.

They gave played 3 times this season with the Jackets winning twice but the first was done in a shootout.  It just shows you how tricky this game is to call.

Senators vs Lightning Betting Tips:

The odds are heavily on the Lightnings side here.  Even a Lightning -1.5 pick is only 1.76.

They have played 3 times this season with the Lightning winning 2 of them and one of them was by 1 goal.

I like the Lightning to win but it would have to be -1.5 and the odds are too low for that plus the Sens have been able to stay in the games against the Lightning so it’s a skip for me here.

Oilers vs Flyers Betting Tips:

The Oilers should win this game but it comes down to their goaltending which is a common question when talking about them.

The Flyers picked up a win in their last game which stopped their losing streak at 6 games.  They have had lengthy losing streaks this season.  They lost 10 in a row and then won 3 straight,  lost 12 in a row then won the next 2.

With the Oilers goaltending issues and the Flyers able to have some success after losing streaks its another tough game to call.

Hurricanes vs Red Wings Betting Tips:

These teams have played each other once this season and the Canes won it.

The Canes have won 5 in a row and currently lead the Metro Divison with 78 points.  They are in 1st place in the Eastern Conference.

The Wings are coming into this game after that shit show against the Leafs where they were down 7-2 but managed to make a game of it losing 10-7.

It’s hard to bet against the Canes as they have been amazing all season and I don’t see the Wings giving them too much trouble.

Canes win in regulation

Flames vs Wild Betting Tips:

This should be a good game.

The Flames are in 3rd place in the Western Conference with 68 points in 51 games, the Wild are in 4th in the West with 65 points in 50 games.

They have played once this season with the Flames winning 7-3 in both teams last game last week.

The Wild are slightly favored here and that’s because they are at home.  Both teams are in the top 10 in GPG but the Flames are ranked #2 in GAPG so a little worried about the over here.

They Wild are home for this one as I said so maybe a slight lean on them to win this game but it’s really too close to call for me.

Canadiens vs Jets Betting Tips:

The Jets should win this game but the Habs have won 5 straight.

We both hate betting on a game with the Jets involved so an easy skip for me here.

Islanders vs Avalanche Betting Tips:

The Islanders continue to struggle now going 4-4-2 over their last 10.  The Avalanche have won their last 3 games and are 7-2-1 over last 10.

Looking back at the Avs last 6 wins, all but one was won by 2 or more goals.  And to get any value on the Avs I need to take them -1.5 so that’s what I’m doing

Avalanche -1.5

Sharks vs Knights Betting Tips:

The Knights have won thee last 10 games between these teams going back to 2019.

The Sharks are having a rough time lately going 2-4-4 over last 10.  The Knights have lost their last 2 games and are 4-5-1 over last 10.

I do like the Knights here but not enough to take them with the handicap and a regulation win is just barely over our minimum so I have to skip this game.

Bruins vs Ducks Betting Tips:

These teams played each other on January 24th and it was the Ducks winning 5-3.

The Bruins are on a 5 game winning streak and the Ducks have lost their last 2.

I want to take the Bruins here but I have somehow talked myself out of it.  I do like them to win and it would need to be in regulation.  After they put on that offensive clinic last night I’m curious to see how much gas they have left in the tank.  I reluctantly have to skip this game.

Live dog alert!
To WIN against puckline: Montreal +1.5 (a gift 1.75!!!)
Lean to WIN moneyline: Montreal outright
Full game OVER 6.0: Columbus sails the seven seas
To WIN moneyline: Edmonton and Colorado
Lean: to WIN against puckline: Ottawa +2.0 (at ~1.75)

I think the Oilers click tonight. Colorado puckline is risky because it’s a non-conference game against a midling team they rarely see, but moneyline is highly likely. The Ottawa/Electricity matchup looks like a close call, not a wipeout. Montreal’s on a very strong streak and doing all the winning with 5 on 5. Their look-ahead is Calgary and Edmonton next, on the road, so they will have circled this matchup.

Great insightful tips everyone, as usual. Cheers!
