No bets yesterday. It was a night of fun NHL action.

The Buffalo Sabres lost again. The Senators continue to be a solid home team with a nice 3-1 win over the Flames. Wild got the win but scraped it so glad we didn’t do the -1.5 there. Jets thrashed the Canucks.

Busy Thursday.

Let’s get right into each game. As always I may have more betting tips later in the comments. Speaking of the comments we may ditch Disqus as it is getting annoying and not sending e-mails with new comments. Very frustrating.:

Bruins vs Islanders:

Bruins have lost a bit of consistency but come into this with two road wins. The Islanders have had the Bruins number this season though winning all 4 matchups between them.

Bruins are a beast at home though and these two haven’t played in Boston yet. Looking at the advanced metrics it has gone either way. The big concern is the amount of HDCA Bruins concede against them against the Islanders. Bruins have very few HDCA games over 10 yet the Islanders have 3 against them (18, 16, 14).

Seeing the chances the Islanders generate against the Bruins, plus the Bruins having fans back tonight? I’m good with Over 5 incl OT/SO.

Penguins vs Sabres:

Back to back head to head. Won’t bother with. But I mean Pens -1.5 is probably the bet to make and you don’t need me to explain why I am sure.

Flyers vs Rangers:

Flyers really struggling at the moment. First game between the two since Rangers thrashed them 9-0. Flyers probably a tad motivated. Rangers are average on the road at 7-7-1. Think I’ll be staying away from this.

Senators vs Leafs:

Leafs but unbettable unless -1.5. With Sens on a B2B and Leafs super rested again gotta think Toronto do the business. Not enough to bet.

Blue Jackets vs Hurricanes:

I mean with result results you could say Blue Jackets maybe have value here. Nedeljkovic on fire right now though. Korp in net for Jackets. Probably nothing here I like.

Capitals vs Devils:

Caps coming in off a loss. Devils have been a tough game for the Caps this year. Caps have won all four but it has been close. Looking at the advanced metrics they have been slightly better to a lot better in terms of xG. Others are a bit all over the place. Caps would have to be in reg.

Avalanche vs Knights:

Knights are 2.60. Really? I mean I know Knights are likely without Pacioretty and Pietrangelo but I mean come on. Really?

Both teams had low scoring games in their four games this year. They were generally tight contests advanced metrics wise.

That seems like a very good price with value. Will be thinking about it a bit more.

Stars vs Lightning:

Probably nothing here. Last one was tight. Will look into more though.

Wild vs Blues:

Nice little price on the Wild. Excellent home team. In saying that they are on a back to back and Blues are lively away with a 12-4-2 record.

Predators vs Red Wings:

Preds got the 2-0 win last time out. This series has went a bit topsy turvy in terms of results. I lean Preds in reg here. I did like the Preds defensive performance in last game and looks to be going good. Another one I will explore more.

Blackhawks vs Panthers:

Don’t like either here are the odds.

The Bs have had this game circled on the calendar. First, because the Isles have owned the Bs thus far (0-3-1 all on the road) and they’re looking for payback. Second, the Bs are playing in front of their fans for the first time this season and will not want to drop this one. Finally, the Isles are in first place and the Bs need points badly (five games in hand).

Rask hasn’t seen action for nearly 3 weeks and he is bound to be rusty. Indeed, I like the Isles TT over 2.5. But the Bs top lines are healthy and motivated and they have the 9th best PP so I expect they’ll be good for 3.
