No tips yesterday.

The Oilers beat the Kings 4-3 in a shootout.   With the point the Kings gained in the loss they are still in 2nd in the Pacific with a 1 point lead over the Oilers.

The Rangers beat the Wings 5-4 in overtime and they are now 3 points behind the division leading Canes.  They have won 4 straight and are 8-2 over last 10.

The Jets beat the Sabres 3-2 in a shootout and are now only 2 points back of the Knights who also won yesterday when they beat the Kraken 3-0.

The Blues beat the Canucks 4-3 and moved into 3rd in the Central with 83 points and the Preds are now in the 1st wild card spot with 82.

A busy night with 9 games and the odds are pretty shitty for most of the games but let’s see.

Canadiens vs Hurricanes Betting Tips:

The Canes are the favorites here and the odds make it unplayable.   A Canes -1.5 is only 1.66.

The Canes aren’t playing the greatest for their standards going 4-3-3 over last 10, the Habs are 3-3-4 and are tied for last place in the league with the Coyotes.

Just nothing to bet on here unless we were to take the Canes -2.5 and that’s only 2.20.

Blackhawks vs Panthers Betting Tips:

Just like the Canes game, the Panthers are the favorites here and taking them -1.5 is only 1.68.  And a -2.5 is also just 2.20.

It’s not worth the risk if the payout is so low.  Betting on a team to win by 3 or more is something I’m not comfortable doing.

Devils vs Bruins Betting Tips:

They have played each other twice this season with the Bruins winning both.

The Devils are way out of the playoffs with 53 points which is 31 behind the Caps.

The Bruins are in the 1st wild card spot and are only 2 points behind the Leafs who are in 3rd in the Atlantic

The Bruins will be looking to get back on track after they had their 4 game win streak snapped.  The Devils have lost their last 8 road games and it won’t be easy to snap that here.

I do like the Bruins to win but it needs to be -1.5 and over their last 4 games they are 3-1 and would have covered only once so I have to skip.

Jackets vs Islanders Betting Tips:

The Jackets have lost 4 in a row and are now 15 points behind the wild card spots.

The Islanders are 2 points back of the Jackets.

They played each other on Tuesday and the Isles won 4-3 they also played on March 10th where the Isles also won that one 6-0.

With both teams basically eliminated its tough to bet on this game.

Jets vs Leafs Betting Tips:

The Jets are close to a playoff spot and need any and all points they can get for the rest of the season.  They have won 3 in a row.

The Leafs have won their last 2 games but they are now having to use Kallgren with Mrazek and Campbell both out.

The best way for the Leafs to help out their young goalie is to score a pile of goals.

They played once this season and the Jets won that one.  The Jets will be without their leading scorer Connor and defenseman Schmidt who will miss a couple more games with Covid.

With the Lightning not playing, the Leafs can move into 2nd in the Atlantic with a win here.  They have had only one game go to extra time this month so if they win it should be in regulation.

I’m going to do something I rarely do here and that’s bet on a game with the Jets involved.

Leafs in regulation

Penguins vs Wild Betting Tips:

A big game here.

The Pens are currently in 3rd in the Metro and the Wild are in 2nd in the Central.

The Pens have gone 6-3-1 over last 10,  the Wild have won 7 straight.  The is the 2nd and final meeting of these teams of the season with the Wild barely winning the first game 5-4 in a shootout.

It’s tough to bet on this game.   Both teams are great and the Wild should have the momentum and are at home but it’s the Pens and they are no easy game for any team.

Sharks vs Avalanche Betting Tips:

Another game where the odds are so heavily leaning to one side that it makes it almost unplayable.

I would say the Avs win this with ease but they are missing two of the best players with Landeskog and MacKinnon both out.

With the odds so lousy and the Avs missing some key players, I have to skip this game.

Kings vs Flames Betting Tips:

Another big game here.

The Kings are in 2nd and the Flames 1st in the Pacific.  6 points separate them.

The Flames are the favorite here and to get any value we would need to take them -1.5 and I’m not sure that’s a smart play with so much on the line for the Kings.

There’s a good chance they won but I’m not sure they will cover.  They played once this season with the Flames winning 3-2.

Stars vs Ducks Betting Tips:

The Stars are 1 point behind the Knights for the final wild card spot. The Ducks have lost 10 in a row.

The Stars should win this game but they have gone 5-5 and that doesn’t give me much confidence in them at the moment.   To get any value we would have to take them to win in regulation.  Sure it’s the Ducks and they are in a full on shitshow skid but the Stars have needed extra time for 3 of their wins this month.

Thanks Scott, as much as I’d like to bet on a side you’ve made some good arguments why not to today.

Do you see any totals or props that you’d put a sprinkle on?

Western RattlersD

To WIN moneyline: Dallas
Reverse Puckline: Montreal at +2.0
OVER 5.5: Jets/Leafs
UNDER 7.0: Habs/Canes
Lean: Flames game Under 7 (very risky)

After playing 9 strong teams in a row and coming off a back-to-back and playing Minnesota next, if Carolina does anything but take tonight off, emailing in their effort from a jacuzzi somewhere, I’ll be very surprised. That still doesn’t get me betting on the Habs to win, which they might and can, but the reverse puckline odds are looking nice. Goals should remain under 7. LA is very strong in Game 2’s of back-to-backs, so I’m worried LA is going to put up quite a fight tonight. Flames as the favorite makes sense, but this game I’m probably off. Winnipeg without Connor is pond hockey. I see Over 5.5 highly likely, vs Torawnee. Dallas is playing well and needs points, Anaheim really showing poorly recently, and having lost their last game against Dallas, they’ll put up an effort, but Dallas is the better team and needs the points right now (and it’s not a back-to-back).
