Only 2 games yesterday.

The Blackhawks beat the Stars 4-2.  Alex Debrincat scored twice and it was the first time the United Center had fans in almost 14 months.

The Flames beat the Senators 6-1.  This was a crucial win for Calgary who still has a slim shot at the postseason.  To get in Calgary needs to win its remaining four games against the Canucks and the Canadiens needs to lose their remaining two games against Oilers in regulation.  It’s a lot for the Flames and it will be interesting.  But the Canucks are struggling winning only once in their last 8 games and the Canadiens have lost 3 in a row.

A bunch of games today.  I won’t have any tips for today’s games but will go over a few that have some big seeding implications.

Lightning vs Panthers

Big game here.  It’s the last game of the season for both teams. These teams will meet up in the first round of the playoffs. The winner of this game will have home ice for the first road, if you can call it that as both teams are from Florida.

To get home ice advantage in the 1st round the Panthers need to win or lose in overtime.   The Lightning need to win in regulation to secure home ice.

The played on Saturday and it was a heated game.  The teams combined for 31 penalties and 154 penalty minutes.

No idea who wins this game but it should be fun to watch.

Islanders vs Bruins

The Islanders are in 4th in the East with 70 points and this is their last game of the season.  The Bruins are in 3rd with 71 points with 1 game left after this one.

If the Isles win this game and the Bruins lose their last 2 in regulation then the Isles finish in 3rd.  Bruins need only a win or overtime loss to secure 3rd over their final 2.

Who ever finishes in 4th gets to play the Penguins in the 1st round,  whoever gets 3rd gets the Capitals.

Not sure I would want to play either team.  The Pens are offensively stacked and the Capitals have Ovechkin and Wilson who are both huge pains in the ass to have to face.

Oilers vs Canadiens

As mentioned above, the Canadiens need to gain only a single point over their last two games against the Oilers.

The Habs have gone 4-6-0 over their last 10 including dropping their last 3 in a row.   The Oilers have gone 7-3 over their last 10.

With the way these teams have been playing I would think that the Oilers win this game.

I want Montreal to make the playoffs but if they win tonight then the North Divison will be set and they rest of the season for all North teams will be about seeding.  It would be nice to see how the Flames and Canucks can finish of the year and fight for the final spot.

Hey guys, I went 1-2 yesterday but got away with some profit due to the Hawks reg pick.

I also think that Tampa vs Panthers will be interesting to watch and I believe the Panthers will win it again.

I also think that the under 5,5 in the Oilers vs Canadiens game looks pretty good. 7/10 Canadiens home games went under, so did the last 7/10 away games from the Oilers. Also the Oilers have nothing to play for, in theory they could win the division, but I don’t think the Leafs would let that happen with their games against the Sens and Jets.

So:
Panthers ML 1 Unit
Oilers vs Canadiens under 5,5 0,5 Unit.

Good Luck everyone!

Western Rattlers

To WIN?????????????????????????: Jets
To TIE in regulation: Dallas game (and maybe Philly too)
Full game OVER 4.5: Philly game

Winnipeg surely doesn’t want to meet Toronto in Round One, so tonight is the ideal situation to assure that doesn’t happen. Not tomorrow, trying in a back-to-back with fatigue. Both teams are 2-8 right now, they both suck, so I may not bet this.

Winning Round One is far more important than “home ice”, which means so little with no/few fans attending, as we’ve seen in other sports for 18+months, such as soccer. Therefore, some teams like Boston and Carolina may be choosing to rest certain players, or take the night off, far more concerned with being at peak performance during the playoffs.
